Chapter 84: A Haunting Nightmare
***Author’s note: I’m sorry, I had family in town so I was away from my deck. I’m feeling a lot better, thank you readers for your patience***
~ODETTE’S POV~
The way he touched me sent me to places so high I didn’t know they existed. He was sleeping so peacefully I was scared to move, I didn’t want to disturb him. But I needed to clean myself up. If I hadn’t fed from him, I would’ve been so mad he left his mess on me to clean up. But I’ll let it pass, this time.
I slowly scoot to the edge and then stop and remember, I have my abilities again. I send my threads out and pick up his shirt from the ground and bring it to me. I clean his mess up. laying back and looking at the ceiling I couldn’t help but get lost in my thoughts again.
And one person consumed my thoughts.
Ambrose.
I rolled to my side and gazed upon his flawless face.
He was beautiful. His plump lips looked so kissable right now. His long lashes fluttered lightly in his sleep. His face was relaxed, he looked worry free and at peace with the world.
Our connection was growing. I could feel this tether between us. Something was drawing us together and I wondered if what I was feeling was the mate bond. I wanted answers. This felt real, but with how things started between us, I couldn’t help but be doubtful and cautious.
My powers were growing and during the sparring with Alpha Jaylin, I could feel something deep inside stirring, again. Desperate to break free. I was afraid of it. I think I need a witch.
Maybe when I get back, I can ask the witch he said would help with my ability training to do a reading on me.
I don’t know when I drifted off to sleep.
...
~ Stormy clouds covered the sky. The stench of rot and blood assaulted my senses. Lightning flashed across the sky, followed by thunder so loud it shook the ground.
I watched frozen in place. Swirling black wind formed a tornado. Purple statis lightning strobed within it. Suddenly, the tornado began to take the form of a man.
He was handsome. No doubt about it. His hair was so black, the night sky would have been jealous. His eyes, as black as hair. His aura felt dark and heavy, like it could command obedience from even the darkness of night. Malice exploded from him.
My heart was pounding against my ribs.
I was afraid. Dread filled every fiber of my being.
I knew this figure. But I couldn’t tell from where.
"This is what the Artemis sends to defeat me. Her secret weapon? A little girl? I feel almost insulted. I expected more from the Goddess of fucking Hunt."
And a voice that didn’t sound like mine spoke, "This is the best Cerberus has to offer, the son of darkness and death? A decaying monster? How saddening."
He growled a warning gorwl, flashing his long sharp fangs.
I wanted to turn and run, but I couldn’t control my body; it was like I was possessed.
"You look even weaker than your husband. A pathetic excuse for a divine deity. The worst apart loving a low born vampire, is how easy they are to break." The man laughed. It was corrupt and haunting. Sending shivers down my spine.
And then threads of darkness began whipping next him and a second figure appeared.
Chained at the neck, and shackled at his wrists and ankles, dark blue haired man sat on his knees. Hanging his head in defeat.
My heart stopped and horrible ached coursed through my bones. My heart felt like it was breaking looking at this man.
I felt this connection to him. This sense of undying devotion. I didn’t know this man and I’ve never seen him before. However, my heart recognized him.
He looked bloody, battered, and bruised.
"Kristian!" the voice that wasn’t mine shouted from me. Despair and pain laced the voice. "What did you do to him?"
"Just a little something to make him obedient." The man chuckled with a slick and sinister tone.
"He was easy to crack, only took a little beating. He told me your plan, if you want him back. Give me the stone."
A deep protective growl came from behind me. My body responded to the growl and I felt a presence slide into my mine.
"Omara, you can’t give him the stone. No matter how much you love your chosen mate, you can’t give him the stone."
Omara? Chosen mate?
"Onyx, I have too. I can’t let him die." I said into the presence in my mind.
Onyx?
My head looked back, I could feel the tears building in my eyes.
And there stood a massive black wolf with golden eyes.
It was really Onyx, Ambrose’s wolf. Standing proud and protective behind me. What the hell is he doing here?
"You would sacrifice the world? Just to save one man?"
"Tick tock, MoonChild. Your beloved is waiting for you." The man mocked.
I felt the pressure in my chest. The fear. The longing. The internal battle. Like the pain was my own.
The indecision was tearing me apart.
And then the man the voice inside me called Kristian looked up at me. His expression weighed down by sorrow and exhaustion. His eyes sunken in and bruised from sleepless nights of endless torture. His skin looked sickly pale, his muscles depleted.
The sight was horrifying and crushing.
He mouthed the words with a pleading face, "Destroy him."
"I’m sorry, I’m sorry I’m so weak. But you have let me go, save the world. You have a duty and a purpose. A prophecy to fulfill. Don’t let me down." A different voice pushed into my mind. His voice. Kristian’s.
My eyes shut and an aching sadness hit even harder. Tears welled, and slid down my cheeks uncontrollably.
My soul felt crushed.
But then I felt it. My power, the same power I’ve been feeling inside me, stirring restlessly.
My head jerked upward, and I felt this burning fire consume me. White flames devoured my body.
The dangerous man gave me a malicious grin and dug his long nails into Kristian’s skin. The man slowly drained of his life force, his face sunk in further.
"Nooo!!" The voice yelled, I lurched forward, throwing balls of white fire from my hands. Wailing uncontrollably.
My fire seeming to hit a force field. Stopping it from penetrating. ƒrēenovelkiss.com
Onyx hollowed.
I watched like a bystander held hostage in my own body as the life force drained from Kristian. His body turning grey and his skin sinking, tightening and thinning around his bones.
The green of his eyes fading to grey, hollowing out.
I felt the snap of our bond. My heart and soul shattered in an instant.
A rage ripped through me like furious hurricane. I unleashed my full wrath throwing everything I had into the force field while the monster behind it just laughed hysterically at my pain.
Magic like missiles began raining from the sky slamming into the shield. And howls erupted behind me.
"You’ll pay for this, Ezelreth, with everything I have I swear to you. I will destroy you."
"Let the fun begin." The monstrous man erupted in laughter and threw his hands up. Behind him what looked to be more than hundred’s of figures started rushing toward the shield. Once they got closer, I could see clearly the horrifying creatures running toward me. They had sickly grey skin with black veins. Fangs longer than the man Omara called Ezelreth. Black eyes with red iris’s glowing in the center.
They shrieked like a banshee. The sound of their scream was pitched so high it was ear piercing.

...
My body jerked upwards. A panic filled my racing heart. I was panting and drenched in sweat.
"Odette, wake up, hey, it’s okay, you’re okay. You’re safe." Said a deep voice that sounded panicked and concerned.
I couldn’t calm my heart, the ached of loss still raw. Warm tears fell down my cheeks.
"Odette, you’re crying tears of blood."
What?
I reached up and wiped under my eyes, pulling my hand back.
And sure enough, there was blood.
