Chapter 138: Chapter 138

Just then, Cypher slid into the seat next to me, a faint smile on his face. "Hey, here, have some snacks first." He interrupted my concentration, handing me a piece of chocolate.

"Here, have some snack first." He interrupted me and handed me a piece of chocolate.

"Oh, thanks," I smiled, having gotten used to him offering snacks. Without thinking, I opened my mouth in expectation just like in the past, where he would also hand feed me the same.

He paused, clearly surprised but amused, before unwrapping the chocolate. Just as he was about to pop it into my mouth, out of nowhere, Angela squeezed in between us, snatching the chocolate and swallowing it whole.

Little did they know, Angela was watching them the whole time so when she saw that the were getting a little romantic, she felt a surge of jealousy as she quickly interrupted them.

I blinked in shock. "What the—?" I quickly look to who it was and it was Angela angrily munching on the chocolate.

Angela looked amused, the remnants of chocolate already smeared on her lips. "Sorry! I suddenly craved for chocolate, and I couldn’t help myself!" She flashed a peace sign, as if that made it okay.

"But that was mine..." I muttered, feeling the hunger to eat something sweet to keep me energize.

Cypher quietly unwrapped another chocolate, "Here-" and was about to give it to me when Angela snatched it again.

"Hey!" I protested, glaring at her as she giggled.

"Hehe," she laughed, oblivious to my annoyance. "Like I said, I was craving chocolates."

Sighing, I turned to Cypher. "Do you have more?"

He pulled out a pouch of chocolates, about to hand it to me, when Angela tried to snatch them again. But this time, Cypher deftly evaded her grasp.

"This is for Remi," he declared, defeating her with a calm but firm tone.

Angela pouted, trying to look innocent. "But I want more!"

"If only you didn’t snatch the chocolates that were supposed to go to Remi in the first place, then I would have given you also," Cypher said, sticking to his guns.

Angela crossed her arms, still trying to pull off her best puppy-dog eyes, but it was useless.

"Here Remi this is all yours," Cypher said and I felt a blossom of happiness at the sight. My eyes twinkled as he prepared to hand it to me—only for another hand to dart in and snatch it away.

"Okay, that’s it!" I shouted, spinning around to see Christian and Rex happily trading the chocolates back and forth, each taking bites as they passed the pouch.

In one swift motion, I grabbed two throw pillows from the couch and hurled them at them.

PAK!

PAK!

The pillows landed squarely on their face as they both fell down while grabbing their faces in pain.

"Damn! What did you throw at us?" Rex complained, rubbing his face.

"Did you put stones in the pillow?" Christian added, still wincing.

"Serves you right!" I retorted, snatching the pouch of chocolates that had landed on the floor.

I swiftly unwrapped one, ready to pop it into my mouth. But just as I was about to enjoy my victory, someone ate it right out of my hand.

"Cypher!" I looked to my side, astonished to find it was him, grinning as he munched on the chocolate I had intended for myself.

"Sweet," he said cheekily, and I instinctively felt the urge to chase him, but he pointed to my other hand.

I looked down and saw that the bag of chocolates had vanished again. Frantically, I scanned the room, finally spotting Whitney munching on a piece, her eyes wide with guilt about the theft she’d committed.

Annoyed, I shouted and chased her, but as swift as the wind, she passed it to Angela again, and before I knew it, the bag was zig-zagging around the room.

The room was filled into chaotic laughter, ducking and dodging as I tried to reclaim the chocolates. We momentarily forgot about the presentation tomorrow as we enjoyed the moment.

Then the pouch of chocolates landed on Edge who was silently scrolling through his phone but when he realized that the pouch of chocolates was on his lap, his attention snapped to me, and I could see the glimmer of coldness in his eyes.

"Don’t you dare," he warned, glaring at me with seriousness.

But I was beyond reason at this point. I launched myself at him, ready to reclaim the chocolates that had caused so much ruckus in our group. Just as I leaped, though, Cypher acted quickly, grabbing me by the waist and lifting me effortlessly.

I found myself hanging awkwardly in his arms, looking up at him with wide eyes. "Cypher! Let go!"

He held me possessively against him, his expression unexpectedly serious, but a playful glint in his eye. "You heard what Edge said," he said, a dash of jealousy lacing his tone.

Across from us, Whitney also took a step forward, glancing between me and Edge with an uncomfortable urgency. "Ahh yeah! It’s just chocolates," she protested, clearly feeling territorial.

"Okay, playtime’s over," Edge interjected, his voice cutting through the tension. With the pouch of chocolates still in his hand, he opened it and popped the last remaining piece of chocolate into his mouth.

"Noo!" I wailed dramatically, feeling my heart sink as I saw my precious chocolate being consumed right in front of me.

The sight seemed to amuse Edge even more, his lips curling into a smug grin. "Too late."

Whitney froze at the sight of Edge grinning. He only does that when he’s near Angela and now he’s showing it to Remillia? She looked back at Remillia who was pouting and saying childish things. A pang of jealousy prickled at her. What do they have that Edge doesn’t see in me?

Meanwhile, Cypher chuckled softly beside me, his grip on my waist loosening just enough for me to wiggle back onto my feet. "I’ll give you some of that later," he promised, a playful grin on his face that temporarily lifted my spirits.

"What? Why didn’t you tell me you still had some?" I exclaimed, frustration flooding my voice. "I kept chasing all of you!"

He shrugged sheepishly, a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Well, I just wanted us to relax a bit before the day of our presentation. Everyone was so tense!"

As I processed his words, I felt a strange mix of gratitude and annoyance. "You think letting me chase chocolate thieves while I’m already stressed is relaxing?" I raised an eyebrow, half-serious but unable to suppress the smile creeping onto my face.

Angela interrupted us again, deliberately pushing us specifically me away from Cypher as she clapped her hands. "Okay! Like Edge said, let’s get back to finishing our presentation!"

With that, we fell back into a rhythm—and despite the earlier chaos, I felt a renewed sense of purpose. I brought my attention back to my screen and resumed typing, appreciating the lively energy of my friends around me.

Friday. Conquering Dungeon Analysis Presentation Day.

Today was supposed to be a day of triumph, but Whitney was in a terrible mood. Her squad had been the first group to present and the result was worse—no, scratch that, it was a disaster. She could still hear the snickers from their classmates echoing in her ears, taunting her every time she tried to focus.

Gildark had insisted on presenting, just like Remillia predicted, and he had completely messed it up. He stood at the front, fumbling over his words and stumbling through the slides like a deer caught in headlights.

Whitney’s blood boiled as she watched him stutter through his part of the presentation while her teammates shot each other worried glances.

’Come on, just read the slide if you can’t explain it!’ she thought desperately, glaring at Gildark from her seat. She wanted nothing more than to rush up there and smack him in the head for his pathetic attempt at a presentation. But she clenched her fists instead, taking deep breaths to calm herself down.

"Ahh sorry, but I did well, right?" he said after it was all over, flashing a clueless grin that made her want to scream.

Her ears rang with disbelief. ’DID WELL? How the hell do you have the nerve to say you DID WELL ?!’ The inner voice of resentment raged on as she stared at him, imagining all the ways she could unleash her frustration. ’Oh I will surely say you DID WELL after I hear you scream in pain!’

As Professor Orion, their previous Professor in Domain Anomaly Analysis I, stepped forward to call the next squad, Whitney felt another wave of annoyance crash over her. It was supposed to be only one instructor judging the presentations, but here was Professor Orion, watching their fiasco unfold as he shook his head in their presentation.

’Urgh! I wish I could remove Gildark and exchange it into someone who has more sense!’ Whitney frustratedly sighed. ’At this point, I already know how many points we’ll be given!’
