Chapter 151: Chapter 151

Friday.

I received a text from Jessie.

{You can take a break for today since you already mastered the dance. But don’t forget to come back at the dance studio tomorrow to have a light practice.}

I texted back a quick "okay" and hit send, feeling a rush of relief wash over me. With the choreography settled, there was still one burning issue to tackle: our outfits for the upcoming dance competition.

After throwing on some fresh clothes, I headed over to the door next to mine, my excitement bubbling over as I knocked.

The door swung open to reveal Kairos yawning. "Let’s go shopping," I suggested, not bothering to meet his eyes as I scrolled through my phone, searching for outfit ideas. "We still don’t have any outfits."

"Let me change in a minute," he said, stepping back to let me in. "You can come in while you wait for me."

I smiled and walked into his room. "Make it fast. After we’re done shopping, we need to practice again," I reminded him, settling on the living room couch.

"What got you so motivated?" Kairos called from his room, his voice muffled by the door.

"I just wanna rub it in someone’s face that I’m good at dancing," I replied, glancing at my phone as I read through the group chat with my friends.

Since yesterday, Rex and Christian had taken a particular interest in teasing me about the competition, throwing lighthearted insults about how I would surely mess up.

Since yesterday, especially Rex and Christian, kept annoying and teasing me that I would surely mess up at the dance competition.

"Are you done yet?" I shouted, my patience wearing thin.

"Just wait!" he shouted back, his voice tinged with laughter.

I drummed my fingers on the couch, when finally, after what felt like an eternity, Kairos emerged from his room.

’Why is he suddenly shining?’ I squinted my eyes at him. I already knew he was handsome in his original appearance but this face of his is also handsome. No wonder girls in our Academy drools over him.

"Let’s go?" he said, and I nodded, trying to shake off my thoughts.

We headed out, making our way to the portal station. There were already students lined up as we waited for our turn.

Once we emerged from the portal in the nearby city, we immediately went to the first boutique we saw.

Inside the boutique, we browsed through an array of dresses and suits in every imaginable style. My fingers skimmed the various fabrics, each texture eliciting a different feeling.

After a few minutes of shuffling through dresses, suits, and accessories, we narrowed our choices down to a striking combination of black and blue.

I found a sleek, fitted dress that hugged my curves perfectly, shimmering just enough to catch the light as I moved. Meanwhile, Kairos picked out a sharp black suit with subtle blue accents that complimented my dress beautifully.

Once we completed our shopping spree and locked in our outfit choices, we made our way to a nearby café for brunch. The atmosphere buzzed with chatter, and the inviting aroma of fresh coffee filled the air as we settled in a corner booth.

Over plates of fluffy pancakes drizzled with syrup and savory omelets, we chatted about everything.

When we finished eating, we went back to the Academy and straight to the dance studio. We spent our rest of the day locked up, practicing.

Saturday arrived with a buzz of excitement filling the air.—First year Academy Festival day had finally come.

Before heading out to watch the competitions, Kairos and I went to practice at the dance studio one last time for James and Jessie to watch.

When we finished, Jessie and James erupted into joyous applause, tears of pride glistening in their eyes. "Our hard work hasn’t gone to waste!" Jessie cried, waving her hands in excitement.

"Luckily you’re both cadets training to be heroes, right?" James added with a grin. "If you two were ordinary people, learning the Tango would take at least months before you fully memorized it!"

"Honestly, I really had no hope for Remillia, but look at her! In just four days, I turned a walking stick into a pro dancer!" Jessie exclaimed, and I couldn’t tell if she was joking or praising me. Regardless, I smiled sheepishly, holding back a retort.

"Thank you for teaching us," I finally said, my voice sincere.

"No worries, my dear! Just remember, if you happen to get nervous out there, just trust in your partner," James advised, his tone encouraging.

"Ba-bye, guys! We still have somewhere else to go!" Jessie said as she waved cheerfully before they both quickly left us in the studio, their spirits still high from our performance.

"Let’s go catch some of the events," Kairos suggested, and I nodded, thrilled by their praise but also a little anxious for the competition ahead.

We walked side by side towards the main area where the competitions were taking place. The atmosphere was vibrant, with laughter and cheers echoing from different competitions around us.

We saw a lot of higher year students but they could only watch the competitions as this festival was for first year students only.

As we reached the basketball tournament, I spotted Cypher, Rex, and Edge on the court, gearing up for their match. However, this wasn’t an ordinary basketball match, players could use their abilities and the hoop constantly shifts between different heights and shapes, creating a challenging environment for the competitors.

For the rest of the day, I went to watch different competitions to watch my friends. The Shadow Fight Competition which I’ll be participating will be held tomorrow. fгeewebnovёl.com

As the sun began to set, the outdoor competitions wound down around 5 PM, and students began moving towards the auditorium for the singing and dancing competition.

The singing competition will be held first so I sat in the front row with friends to watch Christian perform.

The atmosphere in the auditorium was hyped up as each competitor took the stage, showcasing remarkable talent and captivating voices. I could feel the anticipation heightening among the audience with every performance. When it was finally Hannah and Christian’s turn, I positioned my camera, eager to capture Christian’s embarrassing moment.

As they stepped up to the microphone, I could see Christian’s confidence wavering. The first few notes came out shaky and just when it seemed like he was about to lose his momentum, Hannah nudged him with her elbow. It was a small but effective jolt that seemed to bring him back.

When he tried to sing through the lyrics, Rex, Cypher, Angela, Whitney, Edge, and I were trying to hold back our laugh. Despite his determination, he was out of tune. It turns out, he can’t really sing!

Christian’s face flushed, clearly flustered as panic-stricken notes escaped his lips. In the end, since we were on the front row, we tried teasing which distracted his attention and

Me, Rex, Cypher, Angela, Whitney and Edge were stifling a laugh. Christian tried to be serious but he can’t help but let out a chortle while seeing us stifle a laugh.

"W-What I meant to say was—" he started, then immediately tripped over his words again, leading to another bout of laughter from us.

"I-I’m sorry but our performance is a fail!" Christian declared, his tone exaggerated as he bowed repeatedly, clearly wanting to exit the stage as gracefully as possible amidst the laughter.

Hannah shook her head incredulously, smacking him on the arm as they stepped off the stage. "You should’ve just kept going! You embarrassed us!"

"It’s not my fault!" Christian protested loudly enough for everyone to hear.

"Why did you even laugh huh?" Hannah said.

"It’s because of them!" Christian shot back, pointing his finger dramatically in our direction. "They started it first!"

Their banter continued as they made their way backstage, as we kept laughing at Christian’s epic performance.

The emcee which is an instructor, quickly took control of the stage and cutting through our laughter with a sharp glare that sent us all shifting in our seats, looking anywhere but at him.

"Now, now," the instructor said as he cleared his throat. "Let’s give it up for our next competitor!" he announced, calling out the next performer’s name with enthusiasm.

As the singing competition is coming to its end, Christian plopped down next to us, still visibly flustered from his earlier mishap. "Seriously, you guys are the worst!" he pouted, crossing his arms over his chest.

"Come on, you nailed that! Who knew you could bring so much comedy to the stage?" Cypher teased, elbowing him gently.

Finally, just as the singing portion was coming to an end, the emcee made another announcement. "The next performance will be the ballroom dance competition. Let’s have a quick break while we wait for the next performers."

When they heard the announcement, they quickly looked for Remillia to tease her next but her seat was already empty.

"I didn’t even notice her leaving her seat," Christian, who was next to Remillia’s seat, said, scratching his head in confusion as he scanned the auditorium for Remillia.
