Chapter 178: Chapter 178

I don’t know what’s happening around me. All I can see is red. The voices in my head keep telling me to kill—and so I did.

I killed and killed until every muscle in my limbs ached painfully. But I didn’t care. I was having fun, like a child playing in their own playground, gleefully tearing apart the monsters that dared to stand in my way.

With each one I killed, I would playfully declare, "Wake up my pretty dolls," and the dead would rise, although they were already twisted and broken, like discarded toys.

Slash!

Slash!

Slash!

The sound of my daggers slicing through flesh became a symphony, and with every enemy that fell, I felt a heady rush. I continued this relentless assault until there was nothing left standing.

"Awww, my dolls are already broken~" I pouted, surveying the battlefield littered with carcasses, before ordering the undead around me to rest. They all collapsed simultaneously, their lifeless forms hitting the ground with a dull thud. "They’re useless to play with anyway."

But even as I sat in the aftermath of the carnage, my senses tingled—the remnants of adrenaline whispering that there was still a doll left for me to play with. I eagerly followed the sensation until I spotted a man in the distance.

My mind was hazy, but I remembered his name—it was Levi!

"I think you would make a perfect doll to play with~" I cooed, excitement bubbling within me.

But upon seeing his terrified expression, my smile faltered. Why was he afraid? I hadn’t done anything to him yet. As he turned to run, I felt a flash of irritation and threw a dagger at his ankle. The blade struck true, pinning him to the ground.

"Aargh!" he shouted, panic flaring in his voice as he attempted to wrench the dagger free, but it was firmly stuck in the earth.

I plopped down beside him, gazing at him with a mix of curiosity and glee. "Since you’re my last doll, I’ll specially take care of you," I giggled, the sound almost gleeful despite the chaos surrounding us.

His look of horror deepened as he shouted. "Y-you’re fucking crazy! Witch! Psycho!"

I covered my ears like a child, disappointment coloring my features. "Awww, don’t cuss at me like that! As a punishment for your words, should I pull your teeth one by one, cut your tongue off, or sew your lips instead?"

He went pale at my suggestions, staring into my eyes as if they would reveal a reprieve from the madness.

"Choose one!" I exclaimed, my joy bubbling over. "Or should we just do it all?"

And just as I was about to launch into my delightfully twisted plans, he suddenly lunged, managing to free from the dagger and stab it into my right shoulder. "You do that to yourself, crazy bitch!" he hissed.

I glanced down at the blade embedded in my flesh and simply yanked it free, crimson spilling from the wound as blood gushed forth. A strange numbness washed over me, and in that moment, something inside me clicked into place—it snapped the last threads of my frayed sanity.

The voices demanding more violence fell silent, and I finally regained control of my mind. "Deactivate Bloodthirst," I muttered softly, the weight of my madness lifting just enough for clarity to seep back in.

"Y-you’re really crazy! Get away from me!" Levi cried, scrambling backward in a panic.

I approached him slowly, intentionally stepping on his injured ankle.

"Aaah!" he screamed in agony, the sound echoing around us.

"After all the work you’ve put in," I said, pulling my foot away slightly, "only to be trampled like this."

"Y-you won’t get away with this! Just you wait! My lackeys will be here and they will kill you!" Levi shouted, desperation leaking into his voice.

"Oh?" I chuckled, a smirk playing on my lips as I leaned closer. "But they’re already here, though. Go on, scream and beg for help," I pointed behind him.

Cypher and the others stood there, their expressions a mixture of shock and incredulity. Even Levi’s own lackeys seemed to regard him with complicated looks, their loyalty wavering in the face of my power.

"...." Levi looked around with a blank stare, finally grasping the reality of his situation. It was over. He had wasted his time and energy trying to defeat this witch.

"Any last words?" I asked cheerfully.

"Fuck—" I cut him off, knocking him down using my dagger’s hilt with a swift motion.

Kneeling beside him, I searched his body for the remaining mirror shards.

A short silence descended over the battlefield.

Cypher, Edge, Whitney, Angela, and Christian stood rooted in place, their eyes glued to the scene unfolding before them.

Amidst a desolate landscape littered with the remains of countless defeated monsters, Remillia stood alone, an eerie grin stretching across her face. The air was thick with the metallic scent of blood, and the once vibrant terrain now resembled a macabre painting of death.

The stillness shattered as Remillia’s cheerful voice echoed across the crimson-stained ground. "Welcome back, guys~!"

The group turned to her, eyes widening in shock. Remillia was smiling brightly, waving her bloody hand at them as if she had just come back from a pleasant stroll in the park. Even her black hair was dyed by the blood of the monsters.

Cypher stepped forward first, concern mingling with a sense of trust in his eyes. He moved closer to her, instinctively reaching out to wipe some of the blood from her face. "I’m glad you’re fine."

Remillia smiled brightly at him, oblivious to the shock etched across the faces of the others. "Of course! How about you and the rest? Did your mission go well?"

"Ah-huh," Cypher replied, focused more on her well-being than the nightmare around them, still attempting to clear the dried blood from her cheeks.

The others remained silent, their eyes round with shock as they took in the carnage. Edge’s jaw clenched tightly, while Whitney and Angela exchanged glances filled with uncertainty. Christian’s expression mirrored the others, shock locking him in place.

"...W-What?" Remillia blinked, initially puzzled by the unexpected silence and the expressions on their faces. But as realization dawned, she turned to see the mountain of corpses piled high behind her.

"Oh... this?" She waved her free hand nonchalantly, as though the scene wasn’t a horrific display to her power. "T-These will disappear soon, don’t worry, hehe," A note of nervous laughter creeping into her voice as she attempted to put them at ease.

However, the onlookers’ shocked expressions didn’t disappear for a while.

I didn’t bother asking Cypher how he managed to convince the people of this world here. Whatever his methods, I was too drained to care at this point.

Leaning against him, I finally allowed the exhaustion and dizziness to wash over me like a heavy blanket. My mind felt foggy, struggling to process the chaos that had just unfolded.

A series of notifications blinked to life on my system screen, capturing my attention as I tried to focus through the haze.

[Congratulations for defeating Levi: The Ghost of the Past! Reward: 10,000 Popularity Points, 5,000 XP Points]

[You massacred a large number of demonic beasts! You received a huge mana boost in using Spectral Seal!]

[You accurately hit the vital points of countless enemies! The ability "Serenade of Daggers" will last for 20 minutes!]

[By killing thousands of abyss (dark) attribute beasts, the ability "Bloodthirst" has upgraded and will fully heal your wounds while using it!]

It had been a while since I’d received new updates, and my pulse quickened at the impressive gains, particularly the upgraded Bloodthirst. The thought of being able to completely heal while engaging in combat was incredibly enticing.

I quickly shook my head. I just promised myself a while ago that I’m never gonna use this ability. frёewebηovel.cѳm

"What?" I mumbled, trying to make sense of my surroundings as Edge, Whitney, Christian, and Angela continued to give me suspicious looks.

"I mean, it doesn’t make sense," Edge said, his brow furrowing in confusion as he processed everything.

"What doesn’t make sense?" I replied, shrugging nonchalantly while barely managing to keep my head upright.

"...Stop kidding around," he shot back, his seriousness cutting through my exhaustion like a knife.

"Just admit that I’m stronger than you," I mumbled, not intending for him to hear, but of course he did.

He glared at me, irritation evident in his eyes, but before he could respond, I couldn’t help but grin and pull out my Obsidiarite daggers. "It’s thanks to this that I managed to defeat them."

"It still doesn’t make sense," Christian interjected, suspicion evident in his voice. "There are at least three thousand demonic beasts, and yet you managed to kill them all?"

I bit my tongue, holding back the correction—there were actually five thousand of them—but I chose silence over potential confrontation.

"Is that the one I bought for you?" Whitney asked, her eyes shining with curiosity as she examined my dagger.

"Yep," I confirmed, holding it up proudly. "Researchers don’t know it yet, but Obsidiarite materials have a light substance that can counter any dark attribute monsters."

"How come you know that while the researchers still haven’t figured it out?" Angela questioned, suspicion lacing her tone.

"I just happened to know it when I fought against the demonic beasts; they were so easy to kill," I said, feigning innocence to dodge further scrutiny.

My friends opened their mouths, clearly wanting to interrogate me more, but Cypher stepped in just in time. He hoisted me up effortlessly, cradling me in his arms. "Let her rest for now," he said firmly, cutting off their questions.
