Chapter 207: Chapter 207

I gladly accepted the hot dog and took a bite. "Thanks."

Cypher watched me for a second, then smiled. After that, he was gone again. When I noticed him next, he was holding a matching bull cap. "Here, Remi! There are only two left!"

"Thanks," I said, allowing him to place the cap on my head. It felt a bit silly, but I couldn’t help but smile at his enthusiasm.

After that, he disappeared again. The moment he came back, he was carrying an ice cream cone and happily handed it to me. "Here!"

"Thanks?" I said, holding the ice cream, a bit bewildered by his sudden generosity. He smiled as he watched me take a lick of the ice cream.

"Umm, Cypher?" I asked hesitantly, glancing at him.

"Yeah?" he replied, still grinning.

"Your ice cream’s melting," I pointed out, noticing the drips starting to run down his hand.

"Huh? Oh right!" Cypher exclaimed, quickly bringing the cone to his mouth and taking a big bite.

’Why is he acting like this?’ I wondered, a mix of amusement and confusion swirling in my mind. I didn’t quite understand his sudden bursts of kindness.

Suddenly, he vanished from my side again. When he reappeared, he was already holding a scarf and carefully wrapped it around my neck. "It will get cold later," he said softly.

"Wait, where do you keep buying these things?" I asked, facing him as he finished adjusting the scarf.

"I can buy them anywhere," Cypher chuckled, a hint of mischief in his eyes. "Now, let’s get some mittens for you—"

Suddenly, I bolted away from him, feeling uncomfortable with how strange he’s acting. "Wait, Remi! Where are you going?" Cypher called after me, but I didn’t stop.

He’s acting really weird right now, and I don’t like what I’m feeling this moment.

I was exhausted. For the whole time, I had evaded Cypher as I joined up with my friends. I partnered with them to avoid any awkwardness that might arise if Cypher and I were alone.

"Our final course for the night is... the amusement park!" Zachary announced, his voice booming with excitement. "Now remember, we’ll be entering by pairs, and since it’s a festival, I’ll let you decide your partners!"

The members quickly began looking for their partners. I quickly hid behind the other members, hoping that Angela would make Cypher her partner.

I swiftly ducked down as Cypher’s eyes scanned the crowd, searching for me. ’That was close,’ I thought, relief washing over me. When I looked again, he was already approaching, and Angela was nowhere to be seen yet. I had no choice but to act quickly. Without thinking, I reached out and randomly grabbed a hand from the crowd, raising it upward.

"Let’s go!" I said hurriedly, pulling my new partner inside the amusement park before Cypher could get any closer.

As we entered, I glanced back to see Cypher looking around, clearly searching for me. I felt a pang of guilt but quickly pushed it aside. I need to give Angela and Cypher the time to progress their feelings.

We ran for a few more steps when suddenly my partner spoke up. "What are you doing?"

I quickly looked to my side to see that it was Edge. My heart skipped a beat, and instinctively, I let go of his hand and took a few steps back. "I’m sorry," I murmured, trying to steady my breathing.

Edge frowned, his eyes narrowing slightly. "I don’t need your sorry. I’m asking—what are you doing?" he pressed, stepping closer as his tone grew firmer.

I moved back, trying to create some distance between us. . "U-umm, well," I stammered, "I just pulled a random hand to be my partner. I didn’t know it was yours that I grabbed!"

’What happened to my luck?! Why did I end up being partnered with him?!’ I thought desperately as he cornered me against a wall, his gaze intense.

"Cypher was looking for you, so why didn’t you make him your partner instead?" Edge asked, his voice steady but edged with frustration. "Because of what you did, Angela chose him as her partner instead of me."

I chuckled nervously, unsure of how to respond. "That’s why I’m saying sorry?"

Edge glared at me again, his expression intense. "If you do this one more time, I’ll make sure to—"

"Hey guys!"

Someone suddenly interrupted us.

We turned to see Cypher glaring at Edge, with Angela paired beside him, and Christian and Whitney standing a little further back, Whitney looking at me with raised eyebrows.

"We almost thought you were a couple," Angela said, laughing as she took in our awkward position.

Edge and I quickly moved away from each other, the tension between us dissipating in an instant.

"Although we know better than that—you two hate each other’s guts," Christian added with a smirk.

"How did you end up paired together?" Whitney can’t contain her jealousy as she asked us.

"She forced me with her," Edge said, crossing his arms.

"He paired up with me," I countered, our responses overlapping and leaving our friends confused.

We answered simultaneously, leaving our friends confused.

"What?" All of them said in unison.

"What did you say?" Edge glared at me, his tone challenging.

I looked at him, feigning innocence. "Say what?"

He narrowed his eyes, clearly not amused by my playful deflection. "You know exactly what I mean."

I quickly leaned in and whispered in his ear, "I’ll help you by getting Angela to have a date with you! Just help me out this once!" I knew he couldn’t reject this offer.

Edge froze for a moment, then forced a smile onto his face and addressed our friends. "I was the one who requested Remillia to be my partner."

"You WHAT?!" Cypher and Whitney shouted in unison, their eyes wide with shock.

I simply smiled at their reactions, then swiftly pulled Edge away from them before they could ask more questions. "Have fun!" I shouted over my shoulder, smiling as I watched them scramble to process everything.

We made our way to the Ferris wheel before the others could catch up to us. I finally breathed a sigh of relief, but then I remembered that Edge was still with me. I looked ahead and noticed Edge staring at me, his expression unreadable. I quickly looked away, focusing on the view around us.

I thought the whole ride would be silent but Edge broke it. "Why is it that you don’t want to be paired up with Cypher?"

"Huh?" I replied, caught off guard. He noticed that I’ve been avoiding Cypher? I struggled to find an answer. Knowing how much he disliked Cypher, I could only imagine how he would use my response against him. Plus, we weren’t that close.

"Well, I wanted to be partnered up with you," I finally reasoned, trying to deflect the conversation.

Edge sneered at my response. "Don’t ever think that we’ll work out together. I only have one girl that I’ll live the rest of my life with."

I rolled my eyes at him, feeling a mix of annoyance. This spoiled brat. "Don’t worry. You’re not my type either."

Before Edge could retort, a huge explosion resounded, shaking the air around us.

I quickly looked outside the pod’s window. What is it this time? Did the author just throw in a new scene? I glanced back at Edge, but he was still staring at me with that unreadable expression. He seemed utterly unconcerned about the chaos erupting below.

"...What?" I asked, puzzled by his lack of reaction.

"How is it that I’m not your type?" Edge asked, a hint of curiosity—or was it challenge?—in his voice.

My mouth hung open in disbelief. Seriously, he cares about that right now?

"And?" I said, trying to understand why he suddenly brought this up.

"Well, you see, I’m handsome, rich, talented—" Edge began confidently but was cut off again by another thunderous explosion.

This time, the Ferris wheel shook violently, coming to an abrupt halt. Edge still didn’t react in the slightest, but I hurriedly looked back down at the ground.

My gaze settled on Angela, who seemed caught in the crossfire between two glaring figures.

One of them, a man with a cruel sneer, spat out, "It really is you. To think you’re having fun with a girl—just as I expected from a kid like you." His eyes burned with contempt as he stared at Cypher and Angela.

"You... How did you come here?" Cypher demanded, glaring at the man with a stiff face.

Cypher knows him? I stared at the man’s face, my mind racing. Wait a minute—I’ve seen that face before. That hair color... The character I only know from my own writing, the one with auburn hair. Damian Callisto.

Damian is the sworn enemy of Cypher back in their original world. Yes, you read that right. The three of us are transmigrators—Cypher and Damian came from the same universe and somehow ended up here, while I transmigrated into my own novel’s world.

But why the hell is he here?! Did the author mess up the plot again? Wait—if the ultimate villain is here, then does that mean someone else became the ultimate villain instead?

I watched the scene unfold below.

"Are you picking a fight with us?" Angela said, glaring at Damian.

"I’m not talking to you, bitch," Damian shot back, his tone dripping with disdain.

Angela widened her eyes, clearly offended. "What did you just call me?"

I felt a rush of anxiety. This was escalating quickly, and I couldn’t just sit back and watch. Damian was dangerous, and Angela was clearly not backing down.
