I Would Rather Be a Rogue [BL]-Chapter 132: Another Fox
Chapter 132: Another Fox
The hat wouldn’t budge. After Remi had pulled his spiky witch hat over Felix’s head, no matter how hard he pulled and tugged on it, Felix couldn’t push it back up, not even by half an inch. It was stuck deeply on his head, covering his eyes, as if it had been set with super glue.
Eventually, Felix gave up struggling. At least the hat was enchanted to make it transparent from the inside, so that it didn’t obstruct his view. Instead of continuing his pointless fight with the magical witch hat, he focused on what was going on around him.
There were two foxes in the room with him. One, of course, was Remi, who was standing in front of Felix in his human form, blocking most of his view with his tall, well-built frame. Felix had to tilt to the side to peek from behind his back and see the intruder.
The intruder was still in their fox form, but Felix was quite certain that they were not just a regular fox. Why? Because of the scent, of course! Not to mention, a normal fox wouldn’t have been able to break through Remi’s protective spells. It must have been either another fox shifter witch, or a witch’s familiar, although Felix bet on the former.
For a long while, they just stood there in silence, Remi all tense, Felix peeking out from behind him with the witch hat covering up his whole face, and the unknown fox staring at Remi intently. The moment seemed to last forever...
Then, all of a sudden, two things happened at once. Vivi, who had been sleeping in the cradle, woke up and started crying...
And the stranger fox transformed, a beautiful woman emerging in its place, shrouded in a cloud of vivid green smoke.
Naturally, with his daughter crying, Felix didn’t care much to give the woman so much as a passing glance. He rushed to his pup’s side...
Or rather, he attempted to. Because the moment he made the first step, Remi grabbed him by the arm, keeping him in place.
"Hey!" Felix protested, trying to tear his arm from Remi’s iron grip, but it was no use. Remi only tightened his grip, and muttered something under his nose. The purple smoke swirled in the air, wrapping around Vivi like tentacles, and pulled her out of the crib, bringing her straight to Remi’s arms.
"Just stay back," he then said to Felix, handing him the pup.
With his daughter safely delivered into his arms, Felix calmed down, and stayed obediently behind Remi. He checked on Vivi, and once he confirmed she was fine, just a little startled by the stranger’s appearance, he moved his eyes to the intruder.
She was a beautiful woman, older than Remi, although how old exactly, Felix couldn’t quite tell. Her ginger hair, almost exactly the same shade as Remi’s, was cascading on her shoulders and back in gentle, shiny waves. Her skin was pale, with freckles underneath her eyes. Overall, she looked quite similar to Remi, except for the color of her eyes - while Remi’s were piercing blue, hers were a vivid shade of green. Her fashion sense also seemed to be different. Although she was most certainly a witch, she didn’t stick to the witchy aesthetics, instead opting for a simple and comfy look - a pair of washed jeans, a green jumper, a brown jacket with fake fur around the hood, and a pair of old brown boots. However, despite her ordinary attire, she still looked beautiful and enchanting.
Although whether that was just because of her natural beauty, or the green smoke whirling around her, Felix didn’t know. Probably both.
After the commotion, her attention was now focused on Felix and Vivi. She stared at the pup cradled in the Omega’s arms...
"This is not your child," she said matter-of-factly.
"H-huh?" Felix flinched, confused. Only when Remi spoke up, did he realize that even though the woman was looking at him, the words weren’t meant for him.
"Maybe it is?" Remi responded, trying to sound calm, even though he was clearly still tense.
The woman shot him down right away, pointing out, "It’s a wolf."
"Looks like a fox to me," Remi shrugged his shoulders.
The two fox shifters stared at each other in silence for a while. It was a pointless argument, as the truth was obvious - Vivi might have been dressed in her fox onesie, but that didn’t change the fact that she didn’t have a single drop of fox blood in her veins. And as a purebred werewolf, she couldn’t possibly be Remi’s daughter, considering the man was a fox!
Well, at least not biological. But if the man wanted to claim her as his child, then no one could stop him.
Or at least the woman wouldn’t. As for Felix, he was still too stunned by this unexpected situation to join the discussion. It wasn’t the first time some stupid Alpha tried to claim his daughter as his... It seemed that he was starting to get used to it?
"Anyway, what are you doing here?" Remi was the first one to interrupt the silence. freēwēbnovel.com
"Why? Am I not welcome here?" the woman tilted her head. "Are you still angry about that thing?"
Remi didn’t respond. He just shifted around uncomfortably, throwing a glance back at Felix to make sure that the Omega was still behind him.
"So you are," the woman let out a sigh. "I thought you already understood. I tried to come back as soon as possible, but I was on a different continent, looking for-"
"That’s not it," Remi cut her off, not letting her finish. "I know that you would have some back if you could."
"Then why did you run away from home?"
’Hmm?’ Felix’s ears perked up. Run away from home? He had already suspected it, but it seemed that Remi and the woman were indeed related. He looked up at Remi, but the man was avoiding his gaze...
Not that it was hard to avoid it, considering that Felix’s eyes weren’t visible to the two foxes in the room, as they were covered by the enchanted hat.
"I was just tired, that’s all," Remi muttered.
"Tired? Tired of what?"
"...Never mind that. How did you find me here?"
"I didn’t know you were here," the woman admitted. "I just followed the traces of my spell... Were you the one who broke my curse?"
