Chapter 157: Already Here

Of course, the situation was different here. No matter how bitter Felix was about Nathan’s words, he still had to admit it.

He and Jared were from the same pack. In terms of status... No matter how Felix had been treated, as the son of the former leader, he and Jared were evenly matched. There weren’t many young Omegas who could compare to him in terms of his background, even if his mother had been looked down upon. But when it came to Ashley and some random Beta from the Darkmane Pack... fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm

The Moonhill Pack and the Darkmane Pack weren’t on friendly terms to begin with. Rather, they were extremely hostile. While they weren’t exactly at war, the conflicts at the border were frequent. Even the tiniest issue could be blown out of proportion by either side, and used against the other as an excuse to start a fight. Thus, the Moonhill Pack wouldn’t want to send even the most insignificant Omega there to be one of the Darkmane Pack’s members’ mate...

And Ashley wasn’t just any Omega. While she had yet to make any contributions herself - she was still young, only nineteen - she came from great bloodlines, both from her father’s, as well as her mother’s side. Her grandfather was an Elder of the pack, her father led the fighters, her mother was in charge of a large portion of the pack’s supplies... And on top of that, her aunt, Freya, was the former Luna of the pack. She probably still carried on all of Luna’s duties, unless Jared had appointed anyone else in the last year. She had been Luna for almost two decades, appointed by Felix’s father, Wilder Embermane, after Felix had been born and Wilder had severed his bond with Felix’s mother... Freya didn’t have any children with Wilder, but she fulfilled all of her duties well, and had everyone’s respect.

With a background like that, there was no way that the Moonhill Pack could just abandon her and let her be taken away, even if the fated bond between her and that Beta from the Darkmane Pack was real...

Which probably wasn’t even true.

"Jared? You’re not going to ignore it, are you?" On the other end of the line, Nathan sounded more and more anxious.

Well, no wonder he was concerned. Aside from the pack politics, he had his own personal reasons as to why he didn’t want Ashley to be taken away... He had a long-time crush on the young Omega, after all.

Even though his feelings were clearly unrequited, as Ashley had her eyes on Jared.

Not quite knowing how to respond, Remi just commanded Jared to say, "I understand. We’ll talk about it later."

"What do you mean? Are you coming back now or-" Nathan wanted to ask more, but Felix had already ended the call.

Remi didn’t know quite what to say, and Felix’s phone started ringing again, so how could they continue this conversation?

Nathan didn’t try calling again. He just messaged, [When will you be back?]

Felix thought for a moment, before eventually responding, [As soon as I can.]

The road from Silverfall to the Moonhill Pack was long. Although he still didn’t know what to do, it could at least buy him some time...

"Knock him out for now," he then turned to Remi, giving Jared a cold, disgusted glance. Before he made any decision, he should take the other call first... And he couldn’t have the Alpha listening to it. They could later erase it from his memories, of course, but why waste a spell when they could just make sure that he wouldn’t overhear anything in the first place?

Remi did as he had asked, and Jared’s head dropped limply. Felix punched him in the stomach, just to confirm that he was truly unconscious (or, well, perhaps that was just an excuse. He trusted Remi’s abilities, he just wanted to hit the man, that’s all), and only then did he finally go back to the bedroom to grab his phone.

As expected, it was Kade. There were plenty of missed calls, both from him, as well as Fen... They had been calling him since last night. Felix took a deep breath, and picked up the phone.

There was a moment of silence, as if Kade didn’t realize that the call connected. Felix was the one who spoke first. Just a short, "Yes?"

The less he said, the easier it was to hide the slight shaking in his voice. Although he was much calmer than last night, he was still feeling uneasy... How could he not, when Jared was just a few steps away, and the bond was pulling on him so much it was almost unbearable? It didn’t make it easier that his wolf was also agitated...

But Kade didn’t pick up on it, at least not immediately. He just exhaled with relief at the sound of Felix’s voice. "Felix? Are you alright?"

Felix thought for a minute, before responding, "Why wouldn’t I be?"

"I’m not too late then? Thank Goddess!" Kade sighed. It’s been a while since Felix had heard him sound so uneasy... Even when they had that argument over Eden, he seemed much calmer than now. "I’m on my way now, but you should be careful. Ugh... Stick with the witch all the time, alright?" he advised, albeit unwillingly. Asking his ’future mate’ to rely on anyone else didn’t feel good, but it was better than Felix getting hurt. "Jared Thorne is on the way to Silverfall..."

As expected, Kade already knew. Felix had a feeling that was what the calls were about... Although he hadn’t expected Kade to sound THIS worried about him. Either way,

"I know," he said simply. "He’s already here."

There was a loud screeching of tires on the other end of the line. It sounded dangerous, but thankfully, it wasn’t followed by a crash, just by one short, "What?"

"He’s here," Felix repeated. "He arrived last night... But don’t worry, he’s currently unconscious and tied up."

Kade was speechless for a while. Then, all of a sudden, he let out a chuckle. "As expected of my cute little mate!"

...Now, it was Felix’s turn to be speechless.

Who was Kade’s mate? Not to mention, it wasn’t he who had knocked Jared off, but the witch!
