If You Could Hear My Heart-Chapter 1639: Phoenix Nirvana, Rebirth Through Death (8)
Since that day, the relationship between Xia Chuqing and Xiao Mo has taken a step up, and the two have been openly together.
Xiao Mo’s father and mother didn’t leave either; they stayed in Xiao Mo’s villa for a few days.
Xiao Mo didn’t want them to leave so soon, as this would give him more time to cultivate feelings with Xia Chuqing.
Xia Chuqing still lived in her own bedroom, but when the night was deep and quiet, Xiao Mo would quietly come over from his bedroom, without anyone knowing.
Early the next morning, they went to work at the group together.
This morning, Xiao Mo was still the first to get up at home.
Just as the sun was rising outside, he made breakfast and waited for Xia Chuqing to come down.
Xia Chuqing lazily crawled out of bed; now she could sleep a bit more every day because Xiao Mo personally made breakfast.
If she had known, she would have agreed to be his girlfriend earlier; it’s quite enjoyable.
"Smells so good, what did you make today?" Xia Chuqing sat down, eyeing the dining table.
"Do you like it?" Xiao Mo, busy as ever, washed his hands and sat down too.
There were sandwiches, cheesecake, cheese, bacon, ham omelet, and so much more that Xia Chuqing couldn’t help but grab her cutlery.
"Mr. Xiao, you’re so skilled; did you struggle through the breakfasts I used to make?" Xia Chuqing bashfully asked.
She had been lazy before. Although she got up early, the breakfast she made was simple, basically just plain porridge, occasionally adding a bit of oatmeal when in a good mood.
But Xiao Mo never complained.
Thinking back now, Xiao Mo was really good to her.
"What did you call me?" Xiao Mo raised an eyebrow.
"Xiao..." Xia Chuqing realized her mistake, smiled, and lowered her head, staying silent.
Xiao Mo was relentless and snorted coldly, "Call me properly."
Xia Chuqing pouted, "Mr. Xiao..."
"If you don’t call me right, you can’t eat."
"Hey, don’t be so petty!" Xia Chuqing hastily reached for the cake in his hand, "Husband!"
In a moment of urgency, she still called him that.
"Hmm." Xiao Mo was satisfied and then handed the breakfast to her, "Eat slowly, eat more."
Xia Chuqing lowered her head angrily, but for the sake of the food, she decided not to argue with him.
Seeing her wear the ring every day, although he didn’t say it, his heart was always filled with sweetness.
The events of a few days ago were now in the past; for Xiao Mo and Xia Chuqing, it was a mix of loss and recovery, which made them cherish each other more.
In a way, Xiao Mo was still grateful to Shen Chi. However, this time, it had made Xia Chuqing and his parents cry, so even though he was grateful, he didn’t verbally admit it.
After breakfast, Xia Chuqing hopped into the passenger seat of Xiao Mo’s car.
She no longer takes the bus, following Xiao Mo every day now.
"Mr. Xiao, why don’t you hire a driver? Isn’t driving in the morning tiring?" Xia Chuqing asked.
"I used to be single and was used to it; if you want to hire one, then go ahead, and maybe hire a few maids too."
"No, I didn’t mean that; let’s not waste money."
"I can afford a few people." Xiao Mo smirked, "Even if you have several more kids, I can still afford it."
Xia Chuqing turned her head away, oh dear, how did the topic twist around like this?
With Xia Chuqing accompanying him along the way, Xiao Mo’s mood was a lot better.
When they arrived at the group, he wouldn’t let go of her, insisting that she stick close to him.
However, hindered by authority, he wouldn’t hold her hand, but as soon as they were in the elevator or office, he became more unrestrained.
As soon as they got on the elevator, the little fangirls in the group had their hearts shattered.
"Even Vice President Xiao has a girlfriend now; what motivation do we have to work?" One girl lamented, leaning against the files.
"No motivation +1."
"No motivation +2."
"I saw Secretary Xia wearing a ring, and I heard they’ve already moved in together, progressing so fast."
"Yeah, how did things progress so quickly? Hasn’t it only been two or three months?"
"Exactly, after so many years, I’ve never seen Mr. Xiao interested in anyone, so why is he interested in a newcomer intern from the group now?"
"I don’t get it. I heard someone say Secretary Xia’s father used to be the mayor and was later caught for corruption."
"Oh my, so what does Mr. Xiao see in Secretary Xia then?"
"No idea."
"But have you noticed, Mr. Xiao treats Secretary Xia really well, often personally buying her afternoon tea, and holding an umbrella for her when it rains? I tell you, Mr. Xiao standing under the umbrella in the rain is just so handsome... ah, my heart!" a girl clutched her chest.
"Forget about it!"
The crowd laughed, pushing into the elevator together.
Sitting in the office, Xia Chuqing handled her tasks for a while, then stared at the computer, lost in thought.
Xiao Mo was very busy, but he noticed her.
"What are you daydreaming about again?"
"Mr. Xiao, I think we should still keep some distance... after all, this is the group..." Xia Chuqing suggested to him.
"The group doesn’t have a rule prohibiting dating."
"You’re the boss; this could set a bad example. If everyone starts imitating, who will do the work?"
"If they do their work well, they can follow whatever example. If not, nobody gets to slack around here." Xiao Mo stated, "If my girlfriend doesn’t do her work well, I won’t go easy on her."
Xia Chuqing pouted, lowering her head, refusing to talk to Xiao Mo.
With that, Xiao Mo knocked on the desk: "Come over here; what’s with this data? How come the copy and the original don’t match?"
"Which data?" Xia Chuqing walked over, looking at his computer.
"Calculate it yourself."
Xia Chuqing used the calculator to recalculate, and sure enough, she’d made a mistake.
"Mr. Xiao, I’ll correct it right away."
"What did I just say? If you don’t do your work properly, I won’t cut you any slack! This document is so important, how can you make such a big mistake? I noticed the mistake only after going through it once; what if I hadn’t checked with you? If this document was sent to clients, the loss to the group would be at least seven figures. Can you afford that?"
"Got it." Xia Chuqing lowered her head, timidly replied.
Xiao Mo was truly unrelenting when reprimanding people.
"Isn’t it almost evaluation time? As I said, I won’t open the back door for you; rely on your own ability."
"Okay..."
"Why are you pouting? Did anything I say make you feel wronged?"
"No..." Xia Chuqing pouted; she didn’t dare to show grievance.
Xiao Mo knew she was somewhat dissatisfied, but if he wasn’t strict with her, she’d become lazy.
He didn’t plan to let her become a full-time housewife because she’s very capable and talented. It would be such a waste if these talents were squandered.
Besides, he knew she had aspirations and dreams. He would help her and let her go further.
