If You Could Hear My Heart-Chapter 1768: Harmonious as Zither and Harp, All Is Peaceful (Part 6)
In the doctor’s office, the doctor adjusted his glasses and looked at the ultrasound sheet in his hand.
"How is my wife’s health?" Shen Chi asked nervously.
The doctor chuckled, "She’s doing well, Mrs. Shen is just pregnant, there’s nothing else wrong."
"Pregnant?" Shen Chi was taken aback; he hadn’t expected that answer.
Xu Chaomu let out a sigh of relief, giggling, indeed, she was pregnant, no wonder her reactions were the same as when she was expecting Xiaobao and Erbao.
"Yes, forty days pregnant," the doctor said with a smile and nodded.
Shen Chi looked surprised, and Xu Chaomu nudged him, "Honey, I told you not to worry, it’s just pregnancy."
"Mrs. Shen’s health is quite good; just continue with regular care," the doctor said.
"Thank you, doctor," Xu Chaomu replied with a smile.
Meanwhile, Shen Chi still hadn’t processed it.
Xu Chaomu really was pregnant?
"Honey, let’s go, we’re going home." Xu Chaomu took his arm.
It wasn’t until they walked outside the hospital, the evening breeze on his face, that Shen Chi happily picked up Xu Chaomu.
"Hey, put me down, put me down," Xu Chaomu was a bit bewildered.
This isn’t the first time being pregnant, is it necessary?
"No way, the surprise you gave me is far greater than the one I gave you," Shen Chi said.
"Hehe, Shen Big Boss, do you really like kids that much?"
"No, it’s that I like our kids."
"What if it’s another boy?" 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"A boy would be nice too."
Shen Chi didn’t care whether it was a boy or a girl, as long as it was their child, he would love them wholeheartedly.
Shen Chi continued to hold her, reluctant to put her down.
He carefully placed her in the back seat of the car, afraid she might bump into something.
"It’s okay, it’s not my first time giving birth, you don’t have to be so nervous," Xu Chaomu laughed at him.
"Mumu, thank you for your hard work," Shen Chi bent down and planted a kiss on her face, "I know giving birth is painful."
"It’s okay, you don’t know how happy I was when I saw the little one."
Xu Chaomu was very grateful for Shen Chi’s thoughtfulness; as long as he understood her, she was content.
"So... when did this child get conceived?" Shen Chi asked.
He clearly remembered that he only let down his guard when Xu Chaomu said it was a safe period.
"When you were on a business trip, you couldn’t remember my cycle, so I tricked you. I said it was a safe period when it was actually a risky one..." Xu Chaomu said with a mischievous smile.
"..."
"I know you want a baby, especially a little girl, so... I gave it a try." Xu Chaomu caressed his face.
"Why didn’t you tell me earlier?"
"If I told you, you might not have been willing," Xu Chaomu said.
He knew giving birth was hard and might not have wanted her to go through it again.
"Okay," Shen Chi nodded.
"But, honey, you have to be a vegetarian starting today," Xu Chaomu laughed.
"..." Shen Chi twitched.
Xu Chaomu was very happy; in such a good mood, she hummed a little tune all the way.
As she gently caressed her belly, her eyes were filled with infinite maternal love.
"Mumu, I’m really so pleasantly surprised..." Shen Chi still hadn’t come to his senses.
"Silly!" Xu Chaomu teased him.
This man was as surprised as when he first became a dad.
"This baby came at the right time," Xu Chaomu laughed, "I didn’t know it would happen so quickly either."
"So I was fooled by you like this?"
"Wasn’t it just to give you a surprise! You silly, I already said it was fine, yet you thought I ate something bad and insisted on taking me to the hospital," Xu Chaomu said playfully, "A rare bit of romance."
"I was just worried about you."
"Okay, I get it, you’re worried about me."
All the way, Shen Chi couldn’t hold back his happiness. In his excitement, he called Ruan Hang, asking him to cancel many of his appointments.
"It’s not necessary," Xu Chaomu couldn’t help but say, "It’s not my first pregnancy, just arrange for a family doctor and nutritionist to be with me, and you go on with your work."
"No, I have to be with you," Shen Chi insisted.
"Look at you, all nervous."
"How could a husband not accompany his wife through the hardship of childbirth?"
"Alright, kissed, hubby, you’re working hard."
Shen Chi was still very excited, feeling just like when he first became a dad.
"Honey, if I keep talking about a little girl every day, do you think it might really be a girl?" Xu Chaomu asked.
"A daughter would be the best, but if it’s a son... that’s great too."
"I think so too," Xu Chaomu said, "You see, Xiaobao and Erbao are quite well-behaved."
"That’s because I taught them well."
"That’s nonsense, remember when Xiaobao caused such a scene, almost making us break up?"
"For such mischief, a good spanking ensures he won’t dare do it again," Shen Chi said lightly, "But still, daughters are the best."
He thought of Xixi and Niannian again; if he had a daughter, she’d surely look a lot like Xu Chaomu.
That way, he could spoil them.
Xu Chaomu leaned on Shen Chi’s shoulder, closed her eyes peacefully and happily.
They didn’t go back to the Waterside Pavilion but went to the Shen Family’s house instead.
"Mom, you look so pretty today!"
As Xu Chaomu got out of the car, their two sons ran over, flattering her.
Xu Chaomu patted their heads, "Did you listen to the teacher today?"
"We behaved, we’re so good," the two little ones chorused, as if rehearsed.
Xu Chaomu was very pleased, her own sons, she loved everything about them.
"Fourth Young Mistress, the little masters are quite thoughtful, they made a gift for you," said the butler Ruan Hang as he approached.
"Really? Where is it?"
"Mom, come with me," Erbao quickly pulled Xu Chaomu’s hand and led her to the living room.
When she entered, Xu Chaomu saw a small cake.
The cake wasn’t big, but it was delicate, with childish writing on it: Mom, Happy Holiday.
Xiaobao ran over, inserted the candles, and handed the lighter to Shen Chi, "Dad, light the candles."
"Alright," Shen Chi walked over.
"Mom, we learned to make this cake with the butler," Erbao said.
"It’s beautiful, you are such smart kiddos!" Xu Chaomu praised.
Shen Chi lit the candles, and the flames danced softly.
Shen Chi was also pleasantly surprised; he hadn’t asked the kids to make the cake.
He had only told them not to bother Xu Chaomu at night, not expecting they’d make a cake.
The two little ones were growing up and becoming sensible.
"Mom, make a wish," Xiaobao looked at Xu Chaomu, "After you wish, we can eat the cake."
"Alright," Xu Chaomu went over and made a few wishes.
The thoughtfulness of her sons moved her deeply.
After Xu Chaomu made her wish and blew out the candles, Xiaobao thoughtfully cut the cake for Xu Chaomu, Shen Chi, and his brother.
The butler Ruan Hang smiled and said, "Fourth Young Mistress, the little masters put a lot of effort into this; they worked on that cake all evening."
Xu Chaomu thought, it was good that they came home, otherwise, they would have missed this heartfelt gesture from their sons.
