I’ll Be the Male Leads Sister-in-Law-Chapter 416
This pair of earrings was given to her by Xie Xuanji. Jiang Mingwei had always regarded them as a sign of being a dignified wife, so other people were usually not allowed to touch them as she usually wore them by herself. She put on one earring and turned to put on the other earring while asking, “Where is the Prince?”
Since Jiang Mingwei didn’t specifically mention the title, the Prince she was talking about was Xie Xuanji. The servants serving her on both sides held their breath unconsciously and the servant with the largest frame raised her head and said cautiously, “His Highness stayed in Concubine Yan’s courtyard yesterday. Today, someone sent a message stating that the Concubine will come to pay her respects later. If Your Highness waits too long, then I think it would be better to have the meal first.”
After speaking, everyone fell silent as Jiang Mingwei snorted coldly. Looking at herself carefully dressed in the mirror, she suddenly felt less interested in her appearance.
What’s the use? Today was the glorious 15th day and she had purposely dressed elegantly for a few reasons. One, to put the other women in place, and secondly, to look like a woman who pleases herself by taking care of her appearance. However, her plans were foiled when Xie Xuanji specifically sent someone over to speak for Wan Yanduo.
The reason for the Concubine arriving late was something that every woman in this palace knew.
Jiang Mingwei’s face turned obviously pale. The servants didn’t dare to push their luck,so they were all tensed up to do their jobs. At this time, a servant girl reported from outside that Concubine Lian had come to pay her respects.
The 1st and the 15th day of the Lunar New Year was a big occasion. Xie Xuanji had to stay in the main palace and these two mornings were considered the main day as all the concubines had to come to pay their greetings to Jiang Mingwei. Jiang Mingwei was fair enough most of the time as she let the other concubines set for themselves their own rules when it came to greeting her, but she was undoubtedly the strictest on the 1st and 15th.
On these two days, no one dared to ask for a leave.
Jiang Mingwei nodded condescendingly and the servant led Lianhan in. Lianhan was still an arrogant concubine last year, but she fell out of favour this year. When Lianhan was at her peak, she had dared to look down on Jiang Mingwei, not to mention competing for favour with her and even wanting to share housekeeping rights. Now that the feng shui took turns, the imperial favour was directed at the concubine of a foreign country. Since Lianhan was now at the bottom, she naturally wanted to try and win Jiang Minwei over.
Jiang Mingwei was undoubtedly very contemptuous of this, but after the initial joy of the woman getting her just desserts, there was also a subtle sense of sadness.
Lianhan was so favoured in the past and she ended up like this, so what was going to happen to her in a few years?
Jiang Mingwei sighed inexplicably as it was rare to see Lianhan without being too difficult. Not long after, the well-known concubines in the mansion arrived one after another. Lianhan looked around and asked, “Why is Concubine Wanyan late today?”
Lianhan said this sentence specially for Jiang Mingwei. Of course, Lianhan knew that the Princess was gritting her teeth towards the favour that was shown towards the foreign concubine. Lianhan wanted to please Jiang Mingwei, so the moment she deemed that the Princess was unable to voice her opinions, she was going to rant on her behalf.
