I’ll Be The Warrior’s Mother-Chapter 166
A foul odor assaulted Yelena’s senses. It was the same exact odor she had smelled from Incan. The only difference was that the stench was much stronger from the person in front of her. Yelena couldn’t bear it at all.
A discomfort enveloped her entire body. Her five senses sent her a warning in the form of shivers.
Yelena backed up and activated the magic that was on her ring artifact.
“Wind!”
A mighty whirlwind roared around Yelena.
Whoosh! Bang!
Although she had used the word “wind” to activate the magic, what appeared before her could very much be called a typhoon. Items inside the dressing room shattered and crashed against each other, carried by the strong wind. The door to the dressing room was completely torn away after being hit by a small whirlwind.
“Yelena!”
“Madam! What is going on?!”
Liliana and the three knights dashed into the dressing room as if alarmed by the commotion.
“What do we do now…”
“Madam! What in the world…”
“A-are you okay, Madam?”
The room was a mess; the door was ripped apart and debris was everywhere. Liliana and the three knights looked flustered.
“Ahh!”
The employees who arrived a beat late covered their mouths in shock. It was only after the room was in total shambles that Yelena let out a sigh of relief.
Perhaps it was thanks to the wind that the smell was now gone. Yelena’s complexion looked better. She stared at the intruder who was shoved to the side.
The intruder was frozen as if they had fainted. At that moment, Yelena wondered if she had gone overboard, after already having committed the act.
‘A wig?’
There was something different about the intruder whose appearance was in disarray after being pushed to the side. They definitely had short, brown hair. But now, they had blonde hair that reached their waist. Their hair wasn’t a vivid shade of blonde, as if the color had been drained.
‘…I feel like I’ve seen that hair color before.’
It was then that the intruder’s finger twitched while their head was down.
“…lievable.”
The intruder’s mumbles turned into a shout.
“Impossible!”
And the moment the intruder lifted their head–
Shing–
Their necklace beamed a crimson red light again. The odor returned.
Yelena grimaced at the revolting smell and widened her eyes. The people who had been bustling about, worried about Yelena, suddenly stopped moving.
“…Older Sister?”
“…”
“Sir Colin? Sir Max?”
“…”
“…Sir Thomas…”
It was strange. No one responded to Yelena. It wasn’t only those four; everybody except Yelena looked like they were in a trance.
While Yelena was flustered, Liliana slowly walked towards the intruder.
“Older Sister!”
A startled Yelena took off running. The moment she did, the intruder held a blade to Liliana’s neck.
“…!”
Yelena was stuck in place. The intruder looked into Yelena’s eyes and scoffed as if they were dumbfounded.
“…Wow, it really doesn’t work on you.”
“…”
“But why? Why the hell not? Who are you, really?”
That’s what Yelena wanted to ask.
The blade that the intruder held to Liliana’s neck was small, but sharp with a pointed end. It wouldn’t take much for the blade to dig into the soft skin of her neck and lead to a horrific outcome.
Yelena’s insides churned. She could barely open her mouth to ask, “…What do you want from me?”
Instead of answering Yelena, the intruder stared straight at her. Yelena couldn’t see, but under the mask, the intruder’s expression was filled with wariness.
‘Why doesn’t the necklace’s power work on her?’
The intruder, Rebecca, stared at Yelena with hardened eyes.
Rebecca had never encountered this issue before. She couldn’t believe that the power, filled with the creature’s blood, didn’t work.
‘I had assumed that only Duke Mayhard would be able to go against my power…’
Rebecca had thought that there was a small possibility that the creature’s blood would have no effect on Duke Mayhard because of the rumor that he had been cursed by the devil.
Since the devil and monstrous creatures seemed to be of the same species.
Thus, she had thought that the easy solution, in case brainwashing did not work on the duke, was to take the duchess as hostage and lead the duke into her trap.
But to think that it was the duchess who was giving her trouble, not even the duke.
‘I thought I was mistaken or that I did something wrong.’
The necklace was still shining the light, but the duchess didn’t appear to be possessed by it at all.
Rebecca’s lips formed a hard line. Then, she relaxed the muscle.
She was a bit flustered, but it was okay. After all, the duchess was the only one who was unaffected by the necklace. This was only a slight inconvenience to her plan. There were no other issues.
