I'll Be Villain to Everyone! Except for my Cat...-Chapter 71: Paint It Red
"6"
"Mr. Nobody?" asked Paymax.
"Hmm?" With a smile fading from his face, he listened to his assistant.
"I think the time has come to learn the method by which you can win."
"5"
"Oh, so what’s the trick?"
"It’s similar to what you did during your fight with Dirty Ball. But this time, simply ’handing control over to me’ would be too risky. They might notice."
"4"
"I’m listening."
"Your right, metal palm is connected to your nervous system. By analyzing your opponents’ movements, I’ll send signals through it. To you, it will feel like tingling urges."
"3"
"And..."
"You just need to follow those signals. Essentially, it’ll be indistinguishable from following your instincts."
"So basically... auto-combat."
"2"
"Do you agree?"
"The idea isn’t bad..." Mr. Nobody glanced at his opponent. Right now, the Dream Chaser was looking at him with a satisfied smile, rubbing his blades together. "...But you’re too pedantic, Paymax."
"1"
"Let’s save that tactic for other matches. I want to figure this one out myself... in my own style."
There were about 30 meters between them. He stepped his right foot back, rocking on his heel, and extended the scythe in front of his face, as if holding a two-handed sword.
"Well then, good luck to you, Mr. Nobody. And have fun."
"0"
"GO!!!" The commentators and spectators in the arena shouted in unison.
*Thud!* At that very moment, he took his first step and began his run-up.
The distance began to shrink rapidly. He ran with the scythe in front of his face, like a battering ram.
Dream Chaser was taken aback by his actions. It looked like he could be wielding a spear, not a scythe...
But there was no time to think.
"All right then!" exclaimed the Dream Chaser. He crossed his swords and charged at him as well.
"..." Mr. Nobody’s steps became long and heavy, resembling small leaps.
’Just a little more...’ he thought, watching his opponent approach from beneath the scythe’s blade.
There were now fewer than ten meters between them.
"Aaaah!" Dream Chaser raised both swords, preparing to lunge, and at that moment...
’Now.’ The scythe’s blade shot downward sharply.
"Agh?" Dream Chaser thought it was an attack on his legs and crossed his blades from below.
But the scythe’s blade merely dug into the ground at his feet.
Before he could comprehend what was happening, the scythe’s shaft bent in the middle under the pressure, and Mr. Nobody leaped upward.
Then, like a coiled spring, the scythe began to straighten, launching his body into the air.
"..." Mr. Nobody smiled, suspended above the stunned opponent’s head.
’Highest point...’
Then, using his entire body, his own momentum, and the momentum of the jump, he pulled the scythe toward him with all his might.
The long, dark-red blade began to rise into the air, following the same arc as he did.
Soon it overtook him and began to trace a reverse semicircle beneath him.
"..." Dream Chaser realized something was wrong.
Following his instincts, he spun around sharply, shielding his head with the blades.
But it was already too late.
Turning back, he saw a smiling man in black, hanging upside down in the air, and then...
*Squelch!* He felt the scythe’s blade begin to slice him right between his legs.
The scythe cut the most intimate part of a man’s body in half, like cutting through butter.
Next, the blade continued, passing through his intestines, kidneys, stomach, heart, throat, tongue, and finally his brain.
*Schlik!* A slick sound rang out as the scythe’s blade emerged from the top of his head.
"Hupp...!" With a breath, Mr. Nobody landed, barely managing to hold his own body and the scythe above his head.
*Drip-drip-drip...* Streams of blood slowly began to flow.
Dream Chaser now resembled a sandwich with juicy jam in the middle.
Simply put, he had been cut in half. Literally.
"..." As if not even realizing it, he stared at Mr. Nobody with a look of frozen surprise on his face.
Judging by the general silence, most of the audience probably had a hard time grasping what was happening.
He let the scythe fall aside and walked over to the body, which was still standing.
"...Why aren’t you laughing?" he whispered, looking him in the eyes.
Then Mr. Nobody grabbed the hair on either side of his head.
"HEY!!!" he shouted toward the stands. "You thought this was funny, didn’t you! So why are you silent! Laugh!!!"
*SPLRRT!* Under the pressure of his hands, the body began to split into two halves.
As if from a huge barrel, a monstrous amount of blood began to pour onto the floor. With a gushing sound, halved pieces of organs rained down.
"Laugh with us!!!" He smiled and tilted his face between the two halves of Dream Chaser’s face.
The halves of the brain and the insides of the head hung off his face.
In the complete silence of the stands...
"Ugh..." The sound of suppressed retching could be heard through the commentator’s microphone.
As if in a chain reaction, many spectators began to feel similar urges.
"Hahahaha!"
Holding the two halves of Dream Chaser close to him, Mr. Nobody began to laugh and charged toward the stands.
The entire bright arena began to fill with red. It was as if a small child had only one color and decided to use it to paint the entire white canvas.
"Why aren’t you laughing?! You thought this was funny, didn’t you?!"
Red droplets appeared on the faces of many people in the front rows. Pieces of organs splattered onto some faces... And the sickening smell of blood reached even the back rows.
"What... what is that smell?" Kuronuma asked, wrinkling her nose, her face pressed against Tashi’s chest.
"Just... just don’t open your eyes," she whispered, her face pale.
Soon, thousands of people were vomiting at their feet or into their own popcorn without holding back.
"Hey, sir!!!" He ran up to the VIP box.
The two halves of the Dream Pursuer were already light and almost completely emptied. All of his organs were already scattered across the arena.
So it didn’t take much strength to throw them far.
There were six people in the VIP section. Of them, he knew only Marie, who, judging by her appearance, was currently somewhere else, her boyfriend or husband, Simon, and the person Paymax had told him about.
They watched his arrival without their usual smiles on their faces.
"Sir, shouldn’t you help Dream Chaser show off his worthy qualities?! He’s all yours!"
With those words, he tossed both halves into the third row.
All their snow-white outfits and faces should have been covered in red... But that only happened to the first and second rows.
"..." Simon raised his hand, stopping both halves of the body, as well as every drop of blood in the air.
It didn’t seem like Mr. Nobody was particularly upset by this. His message was clear enough anyway.
"...Thank you," said the man with blue eyes, forcing himself to stay calm.
"You’re welcome," replied Mr. Nobody, giving a formal bow, causing blood to pour from his cloak like rain from an umbrella.
Of course, the thanks were hardly meant for him specifically, but he didn’t seem to mind.
Then the real magic started. The two halves of the Dream Chaser, shrouded in streams of blue energy, moved to the center of the arena and began to fuse.
At that moment, the male lead commentator finally spoke up. Apparently, the female co-commentator still hadn’t recovered.
"N-knockdown! A-and what a sudden one at that!" A projection appeared in the center of the arena, replaying Mr. Nobody’s trick of cutting his opponent in half. "W-will Dream Chaser be able to recover from this, or will he give up?!"
These words broke the suffocating silence in the stands.
"D-don’t give up, Dream Chaser!" someone dared to shout as his body recovered.
"Yes, don’t give up!"
"P-punish that villain!"
"Don’t give up!"
"Dream Chaser!"
"Dream Chaser!"
"Dream Chaser!"
As if a single mechanism, the stands began chanting that name.
Tears were already forming on some faces. Some faces flushed with rage. Others shouted only between bouts of vomiting, as chunks of organs had flown into their mouths and stuck there. But none of them understood yet...
"..." Amid these cries, Mr. Nobody smiled and looked toward the archway from which he had emerged. There stood that singer—Lilia—staring wide-eyed in shock. He met her gaze and winked. "This is only the beginning. The most interesting part is yet to come, because they still don’t know that..."
He smiled and pressed a finger to his lips.
"Evil always triumphs." She read those words only on his lips. She realized that her heart was pounding wildly in her chest
But...
The truth was that even Mr. Nobody himself didn’t realize what those words truly meant.
