Williams Family’s Eldest Daughter, Alicia (Age: 16)

“This is a bear, right?”

Leon and Victor nodded next to me.

“It’s definitely a bear.”

“This is indeed a bear.”

We remained frozen, glued to the bear in front of us, which was well over two meters in height.

Bears could be this big…. I had never seen a real one before.

It didn’t appear even remotely as adorable as it did in the picture book. I had no idea it would be so fierce and dangerous.

Though I knew it wouldn’t be simple to find Maddie, I didn’t anticipate running into a wild bear so soon after entering the forest. I also had no idea how dangerous the situation would be.

As I spoke, a sense of urgency was building in the air.

“So, what are we going to do?”

The bear’s eyes were filled with killing intent, and it looked like it was about to attack us at any moment.

“We’d better get out of here before it eats us.”

Leon responded in agreement to Victor’s comment.

However, if we moved even a little bit, we could lose our lives in one shot. We would not want to get hit while we were trying to redirect the horses.

I was a little uncomfortable using magic from the beginning. You never know what could happen in the future, so I wanted to conserve my magical power just in case.

Because, in this forest, there seemed to be many more dangerous creatures than bears….

While we were stuck, the bear suddenly attacked us. Despite being large, it moved so quickly that our response was delayed.

It opened its mouth wide and showed us its sharp teeth. One bite could easily kill a human.

“Oh no!”

With Victor’s impatient muttering, I magically stopped the bear in its place. The bear couldn’t move a single step from that spot.

I used magic unconsciously, but there was nothing I could do about it. I wondered if this would happen again and again from now on.

The thought of this gave me goosebumps.

Would we be able to return safely?

“That was close.”

I looked at Leon and Victor who exhaled deeply, as if relieved that they had survived.

If I was not here, one of them would surely be dead by now.

“Magic is overwhelming, isn’t it?”

“It really is overwhelming. Isn’t it the strongest after all?”

Their tightened faces relaxed a little.

With a wry smile, I replied, “I can’t deny it”. To those who don’t have magical powers, those who do were probably hated and feared. Sometimes they may even be considered a hindrance.

…wasn’t that just a part of being a Villainess!

I was going to be a Villainess who would make a name for herself in this great country, wasn’t I?

“This bear is still alive, right?”

“I think it is alive because it seems to be breathing.”

“What are we going to do about this? …This kid isn’t listening to us at all.”

“I heard that people who are strange don’t listen to others. Maybe the Master is just a weirdo.”

“You and I agree with each other, huh?”

…What if there were other people who wanted to be Villainess? More people might think it was easier to be a Villainess in a country where there was no magic.

But even if you had magic, it would be meaningless if you didn’t work hard…. If rivals appeared, they should compete fair and square after all.

“Brat! Ria! Alicia!”

Victor’s loud voice brought me back to my senses.

“Wha, What?”

“What? It’s not “what”. Don’t go into your own world. Do something about this guy already!”

Victor’s abusive tone made me a bit annoyed.

“What do you mean, ‘do something about it’? I stopped this bear, so you do something about it now, prince.”

“You’re a really cocky dude. You want me to be friends with this bear?”

“I’m sure the prince will get along with you, since you have the same rough temperament.”

Victor’s face tightened at my words.

“Hey…maybe you could be friends with that guy. You have the same defiant look in your eyes!”

Leon whispered to Victor, who raised his voice, while letting out a sigh of exasperation.

“What, are we going to fight here… Besides, all of this is just a bunch of nonsense.”

…You were right. I never thought I would be so calmly confronted by someone so much younger than me.

It seemed as if the bear was also taken aback by our argument.
