Chapter 102: PEACEFUL FOR NOW

"THESE KIMCHI dumplings are so good, Hyung," Wonyoung said while munching on the kimchi dumplings that his Omega father-in-law packed for him. He was cradling the container on his lap as if it were a treasure. "From which brand are these? Let’s buy the same brand and stock up."

His parents-in-law invited them for dinner, but they had to decline because it was getting late already.

An Baekya was still waiting for them at the acting academy.

Sure, we could have just asked Uncle George to drive Baekya home. But we promised the kid that we’d pick him up personally. Plus, I saw how shaken he was earlier. I want to comfort Baekya and not make him feel like we’re neglecting him.

Hence, Wonyoung and Yun Dujun were on their way to the academy.

Yes, just the two of them.

Of course, the Alpha was the one driving the car.

I’m a passenger princess.

"Those kimchi dumplings were homemade."

"Oh, by your parents’ private chef?"

"No, I’m pretty sure Uncle Hyunjin made those kimchi dumplings. That’s his specialty, after all."

"Wow."

"I’ll call Uncle Hyunjin later and ask him to send us kimchi dumplings."

"Oh, I’ll do it, Hyung. I’ll thank Appa for these."

"But you already thanked him earlier."

"I didn’t know that Appa was the one who made these kimchi dumplings, though. I’ll call him and praise him to earn brownie points."

"Uncle Hyunjin already likes you, even if you don’t shower him with praises."

"Well, I want my in-laws to like me more."

"Are you trying to turn them into my rivals?"

"What the heck are you talking about now, Hyung?"

"Nobody in my family can like you more than I like you, Wonyoung-ah."

Pfft.

Wonyoung almost choked on his kimchi dumpling.

Yun Dujun quickly handed him his fancy tumbler while still driving with one hand. "Are you okay, baby?"

Wonyoung almost choked again.

Hence, he quickly took a sip of water from the tumbler that the Alpha handed to him.

And then he started complaining, even though he actually felt giddy inside.

"Hyung, when will you stop calling me ’baby?’ And stop saying cringey things. It doesn’t suit your aloof vibes."

Yun Dujun raised a brow. "Do you really want me to stop...?"

"Nope," Wonyoung answered quickly. "I’m just playing hard to get."

Yun Dujun broke into a wide smile, and then he put his hand on Wonyoung’s thigh and gave it a light squeeze. "Stop making me want to eat you up, Wonyoung-ah."

"Eat me up in a cannibalism way or sexually?"

This time, Yun Dujun burst out laughing.

Aigoo.

Of course, it was nice to see and hear the usually reserved Alpha laugh like that.

But he still felt like teasing his husband.

"Hyung, my jokes aren’t that funny for you to laugh like that," Wonyoung scolded the Alpha playfully. But the situation was so funny to him that he couldn’t help but laugh. Hence, his scolding didn’t sound convincing. "We’re being silly, aren’t we?"

"I don’t mind being silly with you, Wonyoung-ah," Yun Dujun said, rubbing Wonyoung’s knee this time before squeezing his thigh again. "And only you can make me laugh this way."

***

"APPA, these kimchi dumplings are good."

"I know, right?" Wonyoung agreed while looking at An Baekya from the rearview mirror as the child was sitting in the backseat (George drove by himself, as well as the other bodyguards who accompanied An Baekya all day). "Let’s call Appa later and thank him for the delicious kimchi dumplings. Your grandfather made those, after all."

"Oh, Grandfather is good at making homemade dishes?"

"Only kimchi dumplings," Yun Dujun said, his eyes glued to the road while driving. "But don’t tell Uncle Hyunjin said that."

Pfft.

Wonyoung held back his laughter while An Baekya nodded obediently.

"Yes, Abeoji."

Yun Dujun looked satisfied after revealing Han Hyunjin’s ’weakness’ to them.

This hyung can be cute sometimes.

"Baekya, should we go to the doctor tomorrow?" Wonyoung asked worriedly. "You must have been shocked by what happened earlier."

Even though An Baekya had the mental age of an adult, it didn’t mean his trauma would disappear easily.

Honestly, this kid needs therapy.

"I’m fine, Appa. I don’t need to go to the hospital," An Baekya said while shaking his head. "I was just startled, but I’m really okay now. I’ll incorporate that interesting experience in my acting later."

Aigoo.

"Baekya, you talk like an old man sometimes."

Wonyoung froze because of Yun Dujun’s comment.

He did his best not to make it obvious, but he was actually nervous.

Dujun Hyung is quick-witted, after all.

And An Baekya also knew that, that was why the kid also froze.

Wonyoung quickly tried to change the topic. "Hyung—"

"Am I weird, Abeoji?" An Baekya asked carefully, accidentally cutting off Wonyoung. "I’m smarter and more mature than kids my age. It’s creepy, isn’t it?"

Oh?

Wonyoung was confused.

I don’t know what An Baekya is aiming for here...

"No, you’re not weird for being smarter and more mature than your peers."

Whew.

Wonyoung was relieved by what An Baekya said.

"But if you want to be a child actor, then it will help if you act bright in front of directors and producers," Yun Dujun said carefully. "Most of them prefer bright kids over the gloomy ones. Yes, they should judge child actors through the kids’ talent and acting skills. Sadly, it doesn’t always work that way in this industry."

"Hyung, I’m not sure if I like the advice that you’re giving to Baekya," Wonyoung said, frowning a bit. "Are you telling our son to put up a front instead of being himself?"

"Yes," Yun Dujun said bluntly. "That’s how actors live."

Wonyoung wasn’t sure if he could agree with that.

I’ve been an actor in the ’other’ world, but I thrived by staying true to myself.

"You don’t have to be yourself in front of the camera or with the people working in this industry. If you do that, then you’ll have nothing left for your private life," Yun Dujun said, explaining properly this time. "It’s good to separate your working life from your personal life early, Baekya. I’ve seen several child actors who ended up lost when they stopped receiving acting projects. After all, they didn’t separate themselves from their actor persona."

"Ah. I think I get it now," Wonyoung said, nodding. "Hyung is telling Baekya not to make being a child actor his entire personality, right?"

Yun Dujun nodded. "Yeah. That’s why I wouldn’t recommend showing your real self while working in the industry. It’s enough to be kind and polite to the people you work with. You don’t have to treat them like your friends or family. It’s better to put a boundary this early. Since Baekya is smart, I’m sure he understands what I’m saying."

"Yes, Abeoji," An Baekya answered politely. "I’ll keep it in mind. Thank you for the advice."

Hmm.

Wonyoung was glad that Yun Dujun and An Baekya seemed to be getting along well.

However...

Why do I feel like I’m watching two businessmen close a deal? Where’s the warmth between them?

***

"HYUNG, which room should we use when we video call Yuhyun later?" Wonyoung asked while the two of them were lazing around in the living room. They were waiting for An Baekya to finish his bath. "Yours or mine?"

"Mine," Yun Dujun said, wrapping an arm around Wonyoung’s waist. "After the video call, I’ll tuck An Baekya in bed. Just stay in my room and sleep with me tonight."

Aigoo.

Thank goodness the household staff members aren’t around.

"Wonyoung-ah, isn’t it about time we stop using separate rooms?"

I knew this conversation would come soon.

"Now that we’ve confirmed our mutual feelings for each other, there’s no reason for us to sleep apart," Yun Dujun said firmly, obviously trying to appeal to Wonyoung hard. "And we’re married, so the kids won’t find it strange. Married couples sleep together anyway."

"Most, not all."

"Yes, but are we going to become a part of the minority?"

"I don’t think it’s a good idea if we start sleeping together, Hyung."

"Do you hate it?"

"No, it’s not that I hate it," Wonyoung denied while shaking his head. And then he just decided to be blunt. "I just think you’d get me pregnant again if we sleep in the same room."

"How would that happen when we use protection?" Yun Dujun asked, confused. "Plus, I’m going to be on contraceptive pills after I consult with my doctor."

"Hyung, you know that contraceptives don’t always work. Your libido is stronger than whatever contraceptives we’re using."

"What?"

"Pardon my language, but you fuck me like you want to breed me so badly every time."

Yun Dujun looked shocked by Wonyoung’s crass words, and then his face turned red.

At first, he thought the Alpha was just embarrassed.

But then...

"Hyung, your pheromones..."

Yun Dujun’s pheromones were ’embracing’ Wonyoung a little too tightly.

It wasn’t to the point that he was getting suffocated, but he could tell that the Alpha really, really wanted him so bad.

As Yun Dujun’s Omega, of course, his pheromones reacted to his Alpha’s pheromones.

Hence, the air was now filled with their mixed scents.

Oh, well.

I guess we’re still in our honeymoon phase.

At least, Yun Dujun had forgotten about the lie that Wonyoung made— the lie about having the dream that told him that he had now taken Kang Chunja’s previous role in the Yun Clan.

"Wonyoung-ah, should we just call Yuhyun tomorrow?"

Wonyoung was almost seduced by his Alpha, but he got distracted when he heard someone having a fit of coughs.

When he lifted his head, he saw An Baekya gasping for air.

Ah, right.

Baekya can smell pheromones!
