'I'm the Villain, But the System Made Me OP'-Chapter 54: Tournament
Three days after the lactation discovery.
Draven stood in the academy arena. Massive coliseum. Thousands of seats. All filled. Students. Faculty. Nobles from the capital.
The Annual Combat Tournament.
"Nervous?" Seraphina asked beside him. She was competing too. B-Rank High now. Still dangerous.
"No." Truth. He wasn’t nervous. "You?"
"Please. I’m going to destroy everyone." She smirked. "Except maybe you. You’ve gotten scary strong."
"Maybe?"
"Fine. You’ll probably win. Happy?" 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
"Very."
They stood in the competitor section. Sixty-four students total. Academy’s best. Bracket system. Single elimination. Winner gets prize money, prestige, and bragging rights.
Draven scanned the crowd. Found his targets. Elise in the noble section. Wearing a formal dress. Blue. Beautiful. She caught his eye. Smiled. Subtle.
He smiled back.
Astrid was in the faculty area. Professor duties. She’d be watching. Judging. Probably taking notes on his technique.
Lyra was somewhere in the shadows. Couldn’t see her. But knew she was there. Watching. Protecting.
Elara sat with the Church delegation. White robes. Holy Maiden duties. But her eyes were on him. Warm. Supportive.
Mara stood guard near the VIP section. Official capacity. But she’d positioned herself to watch his matches.
Vivienne was in the royal box with Crown Prince Edward. Political appearance. But she kept glancing his way.
His harem. All here. All watching.
No pressure.
System: MAXIMUM PRESSURE
Seven women watching
Entire academy watching
Time to show off ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Destroy everyone
Make them WET
Fuck off.
But okay
Good luck Host ♥
The announcer stepped up. Older man. Booming voice. Amplification magic.
"WELCOME TO THE ANNUAL STELLAR ACADEMY COMBAT TOURNAMENT!"
Crowd roared. ROAAAAR!
"SIXTY-FOUR COMPETITORS! ONE WINNER! LET THE BATTLES BEGIN!"
More cheering. ROAAAAR!
Draven checked the bracket board. Magical display. Names appearing.
First match: Some B-Rank nobody versus another nobody. Warm-up fight.
His match: Third slot. Against a C-Rank student named Gerald Thornwood.
Easy.
He watched the first two matches. Standard stuff. B-Ranks throwing elemental attacks. Flashy but predictable. Winners advanced.
Then his name appeared.
"NEXT MATCH: DRAVEN ARCLIGHT VERSUS GERALD THORNWOOD!"
The crowd’s reaction was... mixed. Some cheered. Some whispered. Everyone knew his recent exploits. House Breaker. Prince Slayer. Lord High Investigator.
Draven walked into the arena. Tap tap tap. Sand under his boots. Crunch.
Gerald was already there. Nervous. Sweating. He knew the reputation.
"L-Lord Arclight," he stammered. "It’s an honor to—"
"Don’t." Draven drew his sword. Standard academy blade. "Fight like you mean it. I hate when people hold back."
Gerald swallowed. Nodded. Drew his own weapon. Fire affinity. The blade ignited. WHOOSH.
The referee raised his hand. "BEGIN!"
Gerald attacked immediately. WHOOSH WHOOSH! Fire slashes. Arcing toward Draven.
Predictable.
Draven sidestepped. Whoosh. Dodged left. Whoosh. Dodged right. Whoosh.
None of the attacks landed.
Gerald’s eyes widened. "How—"
Draven activated Void Step. Spatial distortion. BZZT. Reappeared behind Gerald.
Sword to his throat.
"Dead," Draven said simply.
Silence.
Gerald froze. Felt the blade. Realized how outmatched he was.
"I... I yield."
"WINNER: DRAVEN ARCLIGHT!"
The crowd erupted. ROAAAAR! Some cheered. Some looked shocked. Match lasted ten seconds.
Draven walked back to the competitor section. Gerald stayed in the arena. Shell-shocked.
"Brutal," Seraphina said. Amused. "You didn’t even let him try."
"He tried. Just wasn’t good enough."
"S-Rank High versus C-Rank. That’s not fair."
"Life’s not fair."
She laughed. "Spoken like a villain."
The tournament continued. More matches. Draven watched.
Seraphina’s turn came. She destroyed her opponent. Ice magic. Froze him solid in fifteen seconds. Brutal and efficient.
Then Kai’s name appeared.
Kai Solis versus Derek Ironforge.
Draven leaned forward. Interested.
Kai walked into the arena. Confident. Stronger than before. Draven’s training had worked. Light affinity blazing. B-Rank Mid. Not genius-tier yet. But getting there.
Derek was B-Rank Low. Earth mage. Defensive style.
"BEGIN!"
Derek immediately raised stone barriers. THOOM THOOM THOOM. Walls surrounding him. Turtle strategy.
Kai didn’t hesitate. Charged. CRACK! Light energy coating his fist. Punched the first barrier.
CRACK!
Shattered.
Second barrier. CRACK! Shattered.
Third. Fourth. Fifth. CRACK CRACK CRACK!
Derek’s eyes went wide. "How are you—"
Kai broke through the final barrier. Grabbed Derek’s collar. Light blade at his throat.
"Yield."
Derek nodded. Frantic. "Y-yes! I yield!"
"WINNER: KAI SOLIS!"
Draven smiled. Good. The training paid off. Kai was direct. Aggressive. No hesitation. Exactly what Draven taught him.
System: Your apprentice did good
Protagonist power scaling up
But still YOUR student
Pride unlocked? ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Yeah. Pride unlocked.
The tournament progressed. Round one finished. Thirty-two competitors left.
Draven’s second match: B-Rank student. Lightning affinity. Thought he had a chance.
Wrong.
"BEGIN!"
Lightning bolt. CRACK! Aimed at Draven’s chest.
Draven raised his hand. Void magic surged. WHOOOM. Absorbed the lightning. Nullified it.
"What—"
Draven threw it back. CRACK! Same lightning. Redirected.
Hit the student square in the chest. THUD. Knocked him down. Unconscious.
"WINNER: DRAVEN ARCLIGHT!"
Match time: Five seconds.
New record.
The crowd went wild. ROAAAAR!
In the noble section, Elise was smiling. Proud. She knew how strong he’d gotten. But seeing it publicly was different.
Round two continued. Seraphina won again. Ice spear through her opponent’s shoulder. Brutal but non-lethal.
Kai won his second match too. Against another B-Rank. Harder fight. Took thirty seconds. But still won.
Round three. Sixteen competitors left.
Draven’s opponent: A-Rank Low. Finally. Someone who might last longer.
Female student. Wind affinity. Fast. Tactical.
"BEGIN!"
She moved immediately. WHOOSH! Wind blades from all angles. Testing. Probing.
Draven dodged. Whoosh whoosh whoosh. Fast but manageable.
She increased intensity. WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH! More blades. Faster.
Draven activated Twilight Core. Void and Light hybrid. Purple and white energy swirling. PULSE.
The wind blades hit his aura. BZZT BZZT. Dissolved. Nullified.
Her eyes widened. "That’s—impossible—"
"S-Rank," Draven said. Walking forward. Casual. "Your wind magic can’t touch me."
She tried anyway. Desperate. WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!
Draven walked through it. Void side absorbing. Light side deflecting. Untouchable.
He reached her. Placed his sword against her neck. Gentle. "Yield."
She stared. Realized the gap. "...I yield."
"WINNER: DRAVEN ARCLIGHT!"
The crowd was losing their minds. ROAAAAR! S-Rank. Confirmed publicly. The Lord High Investigator was S-Rank High.
In the VIP section, Crown Prince Edward was smiling. Satisfied. His ally was strong. Very strong.
Duke Valerius looked pleased. His political investment paying off.
King Aldwin nodded. Approval. The kingdom had a weapon.
Round three continued. Eight competitors left.
Seraphina made it through. Barely. Her opponent was A-Rank Mid. Tough fight. But she won. Ice prison. Suffocating.
Kai faced an A-Rank Low. Lost. Fought well. Lasted two minutes. But ultimately overwhelmed. Still. Third round of the tournament. Impressive for his level.
He walked off with dignity. Draven caught his eye. Nodded. Approval.
Kai nodded back. Satisfied. He’d done well.
Semifinals.
Four left. Draven. Seraphina. Two others. Both A-Rank High.
Draven’s match: Male student. Fire and Earth hybrid affinity. Defensive powerhouse.
"BEGIN!"
Lava erupted. WHOOOM! Earth merged with fire. Creating molten stone barriers.
Impressive.
Draven didn’t care.
Void Palm Strike. SLAM. Punched the lava barrier. Void energy dissolving molecular bonds. BZZT BZZT.
Barrier shattered. CRASH!
Student’s eyes went wide. "That’s—"
Draven was already inside his guard. Sword at his throat. "Yield."
"...Yield."
"WINNER: DRAVEN ARCLIGHT!"
Match time: Twelve seconds.
Seraphina’s match was longer. Three minutes. Hard fought. But she won. Ice spear through her opponent’s leg. Crippling but survivable.
Finals.
Draven versus Seraphina.
The crowd went insane. ROAAAAR! This was the match everyone wanted. The Ice Princess versus the Villain.
They walked into the arena. Faced each other.
"Don’t hold back," Seraphina said. Smiling. Excited. "I want your best."
"You sure?"
"Positive. Show me that S-Rank power."
"Alright." Draven drew his sword. "But don’t cry when you lose."
"Fuck you." She grinned. "I’m gonna make you work for it."
The referee raised his hand. "FINAL MATCH! DRAVEN ARCLIGHT VERSUS SERAPHINA VALERIUS! BEGIN!"
Ice erupted. WHOOOM! Seraphina’s full power. B-Rank High unleashed. Glacier forming. Spears launching. WHOOSH WHOOSH WHOOSH!
Draven activated Twilight Core. PULSE. Purple-white aura blazing.
The ice spears hit his aura. BZZT BZZT. Dissolved.
"Fuck!" Seraphina increased output. WHOOOM! More ice. Faster. Harder.
Draven walked through it. Untouchable.
She switched tactics. Close combat. Ice blade forming. SHHHINK. Charged. CRACK!
Fast. B-Rank High speed. Impressive.
Draven met her. Sword versus ice blade. CLANG!
They exchanged blows. CLANG CLANG CLANG! Fast. Brutal. Sparks flying. SPARK SPARK.
Seraphina was good. Really good. Best in her rank tier.
But Draven was S-Rank.
He increased pressure. CLANG CLANG CLANG! Faster strikes. Harder impacts.
Seraphina’s defense started cracking. CRACK. Her ice blade chipped. CRACK CRACK.
"Shit!" She reinforced. WHOOOM. More mana.
Draven activated Void Step. BZZT. Disappeared.
Reappeared behind her. Sword at her spine.
"Dead."
Seraphina froze. Felt the blade. Knew she’d lost.
"...Fuck." She laughed. Breathless. "You really are S-Rank."
"Told you."
"Yeah yeah. Gloat later." She lowered her weapon. Turned. Smiled. "Good fight."
"You too." He lowered his sword. "You almost had me worried."
"Liar."
"Maybe a little."
The referee stepped forward. "WINNER AND TOURNAMENT CHAMPION: DRAVEN ARCLIGHT!"
The coliseum exploded. ROAAAAAAAR! Cheering. Screaming. Stomping. BOOM BOOM BOOM!
Draven looked up. Found Elise in the crowd. She was standing. Clapping. Smiling. Proud.
He smiled back.
Found Seraphina next to him. She was grinning. "Go collect your prize, champion."
"Thanks for the fight."
"Anytime. But next time I’m winning."
"Sure you will."
She punched his arm. Playful. "Asshole."
They walked back together. The crowd still roaring.
Later. Award ceremony.
Draven stood on the podium. First place. Gold medal around his neck. Prize money: 50,000 gold. Prestige: Immeasurable.
The academy headmaster presented the award. Shook his hand. "Congratulations, Lord Arclight. A dominant performance."
"Thank you, Headmaster."
"You’ve brought great honor to the academy. We’re proud to have you as a student."
Political bullshit. But Draven smiled anyway. "I’m proud to represent Stellar Academy."
More cheering. ROAAAAR!
Seraphina stood in second place. Silver medal. She didn’t look upset. Just competitive.
Third place: The A-Rank fire-earth student Draven beat in semifinals.
After the ceremony, people swarmed. Nobles wanting to talk. Students wanting autographs. Faculty wanting to congratulate.
Draven handled it. Professional. Polite. But distant.
His eyes kept finding his harem. Scattered through the crowd. All watching. All proud.
Tonight. He’d celebrate with them. Properly.
But for now. Public appearance. Politics. Reputation.
