I'm Trapped Inside a Prince as the Most Powerful Entity-Chapter 101: New Sights in Practice
Chapter 101: New Sights in Practice
A short while later Eric and Alina found themselves in a quiet garden.
It was within the vast grounds of the Imperial Palace.
It was a secluded less frequented area. Not many people came here. This suited Eric perfectly. He knew that word of the recent events in the council chamber had likely spread throughout the entire palace.
Especially his own... dramatic actions. Many kings and important people from other kingdoms were still present in the Imperial capital.
And Eric who had been weak and unremarkable for most of his childhood had no experience with being famous. He also had no desire for being in the limelight being the center of attention.
The sheer scale of the Empire its dense population of people and the evident wealth and sophistication of its citizens made Eric feel very aware of his own perceived shortcomings.
He felt small and unimportant here. He generally preferred to avoid drawing attention to himself. He liked to be quiet and unnoticed.
However the [System Window]’s suggestion to check his newfound power after Adam’s takeover coupled with the pressing need to prepare for the Academy’s physical entrance exam had overcome his usual reluctance his shyness. freeweɓnovel.cѳm
He had come to this garden with Alina. It was a place where they could practice their skills undisturbed by curious eyes.
Alina held a simple wooden practice sword in her hands. It was not a real sword just for training. Opposite her stood Eric. He was also armed with a similar wooden sword. They were ready to begin.
"Is it... absolutely necessary for me to learn swordsmanship?" Alina asked. Her voice was tinged with a hint of apprehension a little bit of worry as she eyed the wooden blade in her hands. She was not comfortable with weapons.
Eric nodded his head.
"It’s not strictly necessary in the sense that you must become a master swordswoman a great fighter," he explained patiently.
"But this is an examination for the United Academy. They will test every aspect of your abilities every skill you might have. Your magic will be checked."
"The inherent energy you possess will be assessed by their mages. Your swordsmanship your skill with a blade will be evaluated."
"And your physical strength will also be tested. You need to achieve at least the minimum marks the basic passing score in all these different aspects to be selected for the Academy. It is very competitive." He paused for a moment then added
"However with your unique special ability your teleportation power you will likely undergo a special additional examination. From what I’ve read about the Academy students with rare talents get extra tests. That should earn you extra points which will definitely help your chances of getting in."
For Alina studying theoretical concepts memorizing facts from books and understanding complex magical theories was relatively easy. She had a quick mind and a good memory for such things.
But when it came to physical exertion when it came to the demanding disciplines of combat training she struggled. She was not naturally athletic or strong in that way. Yet the reputation of the United Academy was immense.
It was known all over the continent as the best place to learn. She had dreamt of attending it for as long as she could remember. Even though she had always known it was an impossible aspiration an unreachable dream for someone of her common background.
She had never specifically trained for it from her childhood unlike many nobles and royals who prepared for years. This opportunity this small sliver of a chance that had been presented to her by a strange twist of fate and by King Noor’s great generosity was something she was not willing to let slip through her fingers.
She had to try her best.
Taking a deep breath steeling herself for the effort Alina gripped the wooden sword tightly with both hands. Her knuckles were white. "Alright," she declared. A newfound firmness was in her voice. She would do this. "I’m ready."
"Good. And... on my mark you can begin," Eric instructed. He wanted her to be ready.
After Eric’s cue after he said "go" Alina gritted her teeth.
She focused all her energy. With a sudden burst of speed a quickness that surprised Eric a little she charged towards him.
She raised her wooden sword high above her head. Then she brought it down in a swift arcing strike aiming for where he stood.
Previously whenever Eric engaged in swordsmanship practice with anyone.
It would cause his perception of his opponent’s movements to slow down. It was like watching a movie in slow motion. This allowed him to react with uncanny precision with amazing accuracy.
But now something was different. Something new had changed within him after Adam’s last takeover. And Eric himself was quite surprised by it.
As Alina’s wooden sword descended towards him Eric didn’t just see the movement in slow motion as before. Instead a faint glowing blue line like a thin laser suddenly appeared in his vision.
This blue line originated from the very tip of Alina’s descending sword. This line arced downwards through the air. It was tracing the exact path her sword would take.
It shimmered with a soft ethereal light a gentle glow that was easy to see.
Eric watched fascinated as this glowing blue line connected perfectly with the trajectory of Alina’s sword. It extended just past his own body. It was indicating exactly where her strike would land if he didn’t move or block it.
The sword itself from his perspective was still moving in that familiar power-induced slow motion. Each small increment of its descent each tiny part of its movement was clearly visible to him. He could see everything.
The wooden sword meticulously followed the glowing blue trajectory. It moved exactly along the path the blue line had shown.
It ended precisely where the line had indicated it would. In normal motion if he hadn’t been seeing it in slow motion Alina’s sword swung rapidly. It struck the ground with a thud just a short distance from where Eric stood.
It missed him completely because he had remained still. He had not moved. He was too busy observing this new strange phenomenon this predictive line.
Eric was profoundly astonished by this new visual aid. This predictive blue line was amazing. It was a level of insight a clarity of combat perception that he had never experienced before. It was not even like the times when the [System Window] had helped him before by just slowing things down.
This was much more. A new dimension of understanding combat a new way of seeing a fight seemed to have opened up to him. He felt a surge of excitement. This could change everything for him in a fight.
