Chapter 131: A Promise of Protection

Adam sensed the Golden Team’s departure.

Their proud if humiliated retreat left a power vacuum in the courtyard.

The immediate overwhelming threat had been neutralized. But Adam’s work was not yet finished.

He turned his full attention back to the sea of first-year faces. His expression was unreadable hard to tell what he was thinking.

"I need your answer now," he stated. His voice was calm yet it carried an undeniable weight that cut through the nervous silence.

The new students who had just witnessed a display of power that defied all their expectations exchanged uncertain glances.

The offer Adam had made was tantalizing. It was very tempting.

He promised protection respect and freedom.

But the risks of accepting his offer were equally immense.

They had just seen the fate of those who defied the established factions. They had seen what happened to Kado. Joining this new group was a very dangerous choice.

Then a single figure stepped forward from the large crowd of first-years.

It was Ryan the small commoner boy who had just a short while ago pledged his allegiance to the Red Team.

He walked up to Adam. His expression was a mixture of deep fear and a newfound fragile resolve a weak courage.

"I... I want to join your group The New Warriors," Ryan declared. His voice was trembling slightly but it was firm. He had made his choice.

Kado who was still standing beside Adam looked at Ryan with genuine surprise. "But you already joined the Red Team didn’t you?" he asked his tone one of blunt confusion. He didn’t understand why Ryan would do this.

Ryan nodded his head swallowing hard. He was very nervous. "Yes but... I’ve heard that a new student can change their group," he replied.

The fear was clearly visible in his eyes. He had made a choice out of fear before when he joined the Red Team.

And now seeing a different path a different option he was trying to choose again. This time his choice was out of hope not fear.

Void who had been observing the whole exchange with an amused detachment let out a short almost cruel laugh.

"Well that means," he said a wide mischievous grin spreading across his face "that you will now have not one but two powerful groups after you. The Black Team will be angry you didn’t choose them. And the Red Team will be angry that you are leaving them. You will have many enemies."

The moment Void’s words hit him the fear on Ryan’s face intensified. His complexion turned a shade paler.

The thought of being hunted by both the powerful Red and Black teams was terrifying. He started to regret his decision.

Adam held up a hand gesturing for them to stop talking. He looked at Void and Kado. "He is already scared enough," Adam said his voice firm a note of command in it. "Don’t scare him further. It is not helping."

Void immediately raised both his hands in a mock surrender a playful gesture. He took a step back. "I was just joking," he said though the mischievous glint in his eyes remained. He clearly wasn’t sorry.

Kado however simply scowled. He didn’t see the problem. "What’s wrong with that?" he grumbled under his breath. "What Void said is the truth isn’t it? He will have many enemies now."

Adam turned his gaze to Kado. "You’re wrong," he stated simply. His voice was flat and certain.

His words surprised Kado who looked at him with a quizzical confused expression.

"It won’t be just two groups after him," Adam continued his voice calm and matter-of-fact as he looked back at the terrified Ryan.

"It will be all of them. All four factions." He then turned his gaze back to the entire crowd of first-years.

He made sure every single one of them heard his next words clearly. "And this situation will not be unique to Ryan. This will be the fate of anyone who decides to join The New Warriors." He was being completely honest about the danger. fгee𝑤ebɳoveɭ.cøm

Kado was genuinely shocked by Adam’s blunt almost brutal honesty. He stared at Adam then blurted out "Hey I haven’t agreed to join your group yet!"

Adam completely ignored Kado’s protest. He didn’t even look at him. His focus was entirely on the first-year students. They were the potential recruits for his new faction.

"I will not lie to you," Adam announced. His voice rang with a sincerity that was both unsettling and compelling. It was strange to hear such honesty after all the threats and power plays.

"All the upperclassmen all the group members from all the established factions will be after you. They will see you as traitors. They will see you as rebels. They will try to make your lives here at the Academy... difficult. Very difficult."

Hearing this the worry on the faces of the new students deepened. The dream of a safe peaceful Academy life was crumbling before their very eyes. Adam was not offering them an easy path.

He was offering them a path of constant conflict and constant danger.

But then Adam spoke again. And this time his voice was filled with a power a promise that was impossible to dismiss. It was a promise that seemed to change everything.

"But," he declared his gaze sweeping over each and every one of them making them feel like he was speaking to them personally

"I give you my word. I will protect every single member of this group. I will protect you as if I were protecting my own life." He paused for a moment letting the weight of his promise settle into the silent courtyard.

Then he corrected himself his voice now imbued with an absolute unshakable certainty. "No. I will not protect you as if I am protecting my own life. I will protect you more than I protect my own life."

His words his incredible vow hung in the air. It was a stark contrast to the self-serving conditional offers made by the other factions. The students stared at him.

Their expressions were a mixture of profound shock and a dawning almost reverent awe.

They had never heard anyone speak like this before.

To make such a promise to pledge one’s own life for the safety of others... it was a concept so alien so powerful that it completely reshaped their understanding of who or what this boy named Eric truly was.

He was not just a powerful fighter. He was something more. He was a true leader.
