I'm Trying To Go Broke, So Why Do I Keep Getting Richer?!-Chapter 170: Are you saying my glorious moustache is fake?!
Following the General was a stark contrast in energy... the Alistair Twins, heirs to the largest shipping conglomerate in the sector.
They stepped out of their vehicle, draped in chameleon silk that changed color from deep violet to emerald green as they moved.
They laughed and threw small commemorative coins into the crowd of reporters, a display of wealth so casual it was almost insulting.
Finally, the atmosphere shifted. The frantic shouting of the reporters died down. A fleet of identical white vehicles pulled up in perfect synchronization.
These were the Branch Heads of the Lionel Family, the men and women who managed the family’s interests across the galaxy.
Marcus Lionel, the eldest nephew, stepped out first. He looked tired, his face filled with the stress of the recent bank attacks, though he wore a mask of indifference.
Elena Lionel, the family’s chief legal strategist, followed. She was draped in a beautiful gown.
The Patriarch’s Council, a group of five elders who rarely left their planets, made a rare public appearance, their walking sticks striking the red carpet in unison.
Just as the doors were about to close for the commencement of the feast, one last vehicle descended.
A young woman stepped out, carrying a little child in her arms. It was Fiona Lionel, who had arrived to attend the banquet, making a rare appearance on the camera with her daughter.
"So beautiful..." Many reporters subconsciously blurted out as they caught a glimpse of Fiona.
The reporters immediately closed their mouths, remembering that she wasn’t an ordinary person.
She wasn’t a distant relative. She was the direct bloodline of the patriarch. She was in a race with the other direct bloodline members to become the next Patriarch.
Fiona ignored the comments of the reporters. She stepped on the red carpet, and gracefully made her way to the Palace.
With that, all the guests in the invitation list, had arrived. 𝑓𝑟𝑒𝘦𝓌𝑒𝑏𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝘭.𝒸𝘰𝑚
The butler checked the list once again to make sure that no one was left. Only after that, he nodded in satisfaction.
"Looks like everyone is here. You can close the gates..." He ordered the guards, who immediately started following the others.
The massive gates of the Lionel Palace were slowly closed. However, just as the last crack between the gate was about to be closed, the guards stopped, feeling a heavy gush of wind which made their clothes flutter.
"Which fool doesn’t have manners?" The guards exclaimed in disbelief, looking at the ship in the sky that was about to land before the palace.
As per the rule, all ships could only dock at the specified docking station outside the city. From there, they had to take a car to get here.
Normally, no one was allowed to fly directly above the city without permission. But this ship had arrived without a single care in the world?
Moreover, it was a person who wasn’t even on the invitation list, since every single person from that was already inside.
A guard brought out his comms and informed the Butler, while the others left the gate and aimed their weapons at the ship which landed before the Palace.
"Wait a minute, that symbol... Isn’t that...?" A guard recognized the symbol, his eyes widening in shock.
On earth, the existence of the Galactic Union was still a mystery to the majority of people. Even amongst the heroes, only a few knew what their symbol looked like.
However, this place was different. They had been a middle tier planet for a much longer time, and had access to much more information.
Even the guard here could recognize the symbol of the Galactic Union.
The Butler opened the door and stepped out, wondering what this commotion was about. It was only then, his face grew grim.
"Is that...?" He mumbled, only to notice the guards were still in a daze while their weapons were aimed at the ship of the Galactic Union.
"Lower your weapons, you fools!" He quickly pushed the guard’s weapons down, before approaching the ship.
The ship’s door slowly opened, and smoke could be seen coming out.
Throughout the mist, a vague figure came to sight. As the person stepped out of the mist, his figure became even more clear.
It was a man, dressed in all black. He had a long moustache that looked like it alone weighed more than the man’s face.
There were a few wrinkles on his face, as his blue hair came down to his shoulder. The man was wearing a long black hat like that of a magician.
On his hands, there were pure white gloves, as if he was worried that he might touch dust by accident.
What caught the most attention of the butler were the badges on the young man’s chest. It was indeed the badge of the Galactic Union. After all, he had seen that badge before.
The man wasn’t alone, as another man stepped out of the ship, having multiple arms. After that, two more people came out, appearing like humans, yet their presence alone made the butler feel a strange sense of suppression.
"Greetings to the guest from the Galactic Union," the Butler respectfully greeted Leo.
After showing enough respect, he asked, "May I ask what brought such distinguished guests to this place?"
"We are investigating the explosion case in the Lionel Family Branches. In that regard, we need to ask your Patriarch a few questions. Escort us to him," Leo said without the slightest fluctuations in his expressions.
"What?" the Butler looked at Leo suspiciously. "That can’t be..."
"What? You don’t trust us?!" Leo raised his voice. "Do you think we faked this badge? We faked this ship? What next? You’ll claim that my glorious moustache is also fake?"
"N-not at all! I wouldn’t dare to!" The butler waived his hands, trying to clarify. However, Leo didn’t give him an opportunity.
"The Lionel Family is really arrogant! Even the Galactic Union needs to prove its identity to them now? Now will you claim this permit is also fake?"
Leo inserted his hand in his pocket and brought a small piece of paper out of his pocket, flashing it before the butler’s eyes before keeping it back.
He didn’t even give the butler a chance to register what was in the paper. In any case, it wasn’t a real permit from the Galactic Union. It was just his food delivery bill that he had paid for on earth.
