I'm Trying To Go Broke, So Why Do I Keep Getting Richer?!-Chapter 190: The Power of Manipulation
Just like Lionel Family had managed to break into the communications of the Earth, Leo had managed to do the same with the Lionel Family’s ship, especially since he had the architect of that army, the family’s patriarch with all the hidden information, in his grasp.
It was especially impressive since he wasn’t even in the Space Sector. He was still on his way to the Intergalactic Court of Justice.
"Incoming Alert: Alpha Corp offers 500,000,000 Credits to any captain who powers down their shields and surrenders their ship immediately. 1,000,000,000 for every direct Lionel family member captured alive."
The message was delivered to almost every ship. It was even delivered to the ship where Fiona was staying, as if Leo wanted her to see this, to make her realize that she couldn’t trust anyone.
This time, he had the upper hand. The Lionel Family was bankrupt, and everyone knew it. But Alpha Bank? It seemed like a miracle existence that never ran out of money.
Although it was being investigated by Watchdogs, they still hadn’t managed to shut the bank. The Alpha Corp was really capable of paying them if they promised them.
"Don’t trust them! They are the ones who kidnapped my grandfather! Once we have my grandfather back, I will pay you double! Don’t let your loyalty waver for such a measly sum of money!" Fiona quickly sent another declaration.
Unfortunately, her message only made the Captains of Various Ships feel frustrated.
Didn’t she claim that the Hero Tower kidnapped her grandfather? And now she was claiming that it was Alpha Corp that did this? She was just conveniently shifting targets as she pleased.
In any case, it wasn’t as if the old man could still be alive. Even they believed that this was just an excuse to take over earth.
Moreover, if they fought for Lionel Family, there was no guarantee that they could come out unscathed after this battle.
Just the sheer number of the enemy was intimidating, especially since they were in space and not on land.
The stronger the people were, the more afraid they were of dying inside a large metal box in space without being able to do anything.
It wasn’t a problem when they were facing earth, but now... It looked a little problematic.
Deep down, the majority of the Lionel Family captains had already started considering Leo’s proposal as their loyalty started wavering.
Leo watched the feed as the Lionel fleet wavered. He didn’t wait for a reply. He tapped a single button on his terminal.
A few of them secretly took up the offer and sent a message of surrender to Leo, without telling Fiona.
She didn’t even know that within seconds, half her fleet had already surrendered without a single attack.
"Execute Correction." Once the time for surrender ran out, another secret command was issued to people that had surrendered.
They had to take out the ships that hadn’t surrendered, as they were informed of their coordinates.
It was as if Leo’s ships were only spectators to influence certain emotions of fear while he made the Lionel Family’s Ships destroy each other.
At the same time, he had also messaged the Hero Tower, telling them to make sure their shields could last for at least a few more minutes.
The shields that earth had prepared to last for days at a certain limit, were instantly boosted by the Hero Tower.
It made the shields stronger, albeit only able to last for ten more minutes instead of days. However, during those ten minutes, the shields were almost unbreakable.
"Is this really the right decision? After ten minutes, we will be no different than sitting ducks," Lancer asked, his eyes narrowing as he saw the blue barrier around the earth intensify to the point that they couldn’t even see the ships beyond the barrier with naked eyes.
"I believe him." Blaze clenched his fist behind his back.
Even though he trusted Leo, he was also a little nervous. As a period, he could fight enemies. However, his priority was saving the earth.
"Huh? The Lionel Family is attacking itself! What is happening?" Suddenly, another hero exclaimed, watching the live feed.
Even the Media House that were covering the war, couldn’t help but express their astonishment as the Lionel Family’s formation fell apart from within.
The righteous war had turned into a slaughterhouse in under sixty seconds.
Leo turned to the Patriarch, who was now as pale as a thin sheet of paper.
"See? That’s the difference," Leo whispered. "Your family spent centuries building a name. I spent six months building a budget. And today, my budget is higher than your life expectancy."
He knew that he could never have convinced these people if he hadn’t made a name for himself, along with an intimidating army.
Both of these things were crucial in his conquest, and now he had taken the first step in the path of money, and the path of strength.
"What are they doing? Have they gone crazy?" Fiona exclaimed, watching her ships being destroyed without a single attack from the enemy.
"It seems like quite a lot of our men have taken the offer from the Alpha Corp. This is bad!" the commander behind Fiona, exclaimed in disbelief.
No, calling it bad was an understatement. If it was just the Alpha Corp’s army, their professionally trained fleet could still win. But if it fell apart from within, the chances are close to non-existent.
The only other choice was to make Leo stop by taking earth within her grasp.
"I have changed my mind! They don’t need sixty minutes! Blow their shields! We are landing on earth, and taking the Hero Tower hostage!" Fiona exclaimed, as she ordered an attack on earth.
However, only the Main ship was to attack earth. All the other shields were to maintain a defensive shield against the attacks of traitors, while attacking them back.
The mother ship started gathering the energy in the core, and soon, an attack capable enough to obliterate a planet was launched on earth.
