I'm Trying To Go Broke, So Why Do I Keep Getting Richer?!-Chapter 215: Hell, No!
The leader had stopped, his dark eyes narrowing at the sight of the blade pressed against the girl’s back.
For a fraction of a second, Leo thought he had won the gamble.
He was dead wrong.
The leader didn’t lower the plasma gun. Instead, a chilling command left his lips. The girl in Leo’s grasp didn’t scream or beg for her life.
As if she didn’t care about her life, she sharply drove her elbow back, slamming it into Leo’s already battered ribs with a surprisingly superhuman strength.
Leo grunted, his grip loosening just enough. In that exact moment, the leader pulled the trigger.
There was no hesitation. He didn’t care about the crossfire. A blinding streak of blue plasma erupted from the barrel, illuminating the darkness of the frozen wasteland.
Leo shoved the girl away and threw himself to the ground, relying entirely on his instincts. The blast missed his chest but clipped the icy stone right beside him.
The concussive shockwave of the Alpha Labs weapon, a weapon he had personally signed off on, shattered the fragile edge of the cliff.
The ground beneath him simply vanished.
He remembered the agonizing sensation of his right leg being pierced by a flying rock as the cliff gave way.
He remembered tumbling down, falling off the cliff towards what appeared like a black portal, slamming against hard slopes until the darkness swallowed him entirely.
However, he wasn’t alone. The girl that he had supposedly taken hostage, also fell down with him, having lost her footing.
"Venia!" A girl called out, trying to catch her friend before she fell. Unfortunately, she was held back by the leader of the group who said that it was too late.
They could only watch their friend fall down along with Leo. Within seconds, the two of them were swallowed by the black portal, disappearing into the unknown.
....
An unknown amount of time had passed before Leo finally woke up, bruised, bleeding. As his rings were already taken, he couldn’t even bring out any of the elixirs to heal his body.
His legs were still bleeding, and the pain was the only thing keeping him sober.
Fortunately, he had woken up just in time to see the girl next to him, holding a heavy stone. She looked like she was trying to smash his skull, only for her to be taken aback when his eyes opened.
She said something incomprehensible as she thrust the stone down.
Leo’s thoughts were still cloudy, but he still rolled around, his survival instincts taking over his body.
He barely avoided having his skull cracked as the rock slammed against the ground. The girl was about to raise the rock and attack him again, but Leo reached just as fast, swinging his body as he kicked her stomach, sending her tumbling back.
He quickly stood up, even as his balance was a little bit unstable. His eyes soon fell on the dagger that was lying in the corner, hidden behind another rock.
He quickly dragged his body, picking up the dagger before the girl could rush back to him.
"Stop right there!" He aimed the dagger at the woman who was rushing to him. "I don’t know where I am, but I’m sure you don’t want to die here! So stop right now!"
He wasn’t sure if the girl could understand his words, but even if she didn’t, he was sure that she would’ve gotten the message.
The only problem was that he didn’t know how to talk with her. She didn’t even seem to speak the same language after all.
"Can you-" Leo tried speaking, wondering if he could use sign language or gestures to make her understand. However, just then, his expressions grew pale as he saw the woman cough a mouthful of blood.
Something stabbed her back, passing through her chest. It was so fast that he couldn’t even see what it was. Before he could react, the girl had a hole in her chest.
Her lips bled as she looked down in disbelief, slowly reaching out her hand as if asking Leo for help.
Fortunately, Leo wasn’t a fool. It was too late for the girl, and he was also a little frightened as he heard some inhuman growling noises coming in from the darkness beyond.
"Oh hell no!" Without a second flight, he turned around and started running away if his limping could even be called that.
He didn’t know where he was, or if he was even talking the right path. However, he still chose the path opposite to where the strange noises were coming from.

"And now, here I am,’
Leo thought, pulling himself back to the present.
The cold reality of the glowing corridor anchored his wandering mind.
He pushed himself off the wall, using his good leg to bear most of his weight. He looked closely at the strange, circuit-like lines running along the stone.
The small specks of light flowing through the lines weren’t random. They appeared to have a pattern, like a heartbeat.
He traced a finger over one of the glowing circuits.
It was then that a chilling realization washed over him. The deliberate pathways, the branching corridors, the patterned lighting, this wasn’t just an ordinary cave. There was even a monster or more roaming around.
The layout was specifically designed to disorient, and to trap. It was an underground labyrinth.
He was in a dungeon.
The portal hadn’t just dropped him into a hole in the ice; it had transported him to a dungeon.
While Leo was already at a loss of words, a low growl echoed from the darkness he had just fled, violently interrupting his thoughts.
The sound sent a spike of pure adrenaline through his veins, temporarily dulling the agony in his right leg. It was like the sound of a mindless beast.
They had finished with Venia. Now, they were following the trail of fresh blood... They were following his trail of blood.
