I'm Trying To Go Broke, So Why Do I Keep Getting Richer?!-Chapter 231: Losing a life
The young man’s knees buckled instantly. He was slammed face first on the ground, but no one could be seen pushing him down. It was as if he had fallen on his own.
He wasn’t the only one either. The girl near him had also fallen, her face growing deathly pale.
The snow beneath the young man compacted into a sheet of ice in a fraction of a second, the sheer pressure made his face darken.
He tried to push up, his muscles bulging and his teeth clenching, but the gravity disk didn’t care about his willpower.
Every time he appeared to raise his head even an inch, the device increased the gravity even more, pinning him flatter.
A few yards away, the woman cried out. She too felt the crushing weight. The Seraphim Protection Ring around her neck swung wildly. It caught the light, glowing faintly but it remained cold. It didn’t recognize her. It didn’t offer her its protection.
Leo stepped out of the light.
His boots crunched softly on the snow that didn’t dare push back against him. He looked calm, his high-collared coat appearing untouched by even a speck of dust, creating a sharp contrast to the two figures groveling in the dirt. He didn’t look angry anymore. He looked bored, which was far more terrifying.
Leo walked toward the young man, who was currently grinding his teeth so hard they sounded like they might shatter. The young man’s eyes were bloodshot, staring up at Leo with a mix of disbelief and anger.
"You... How... are you here?" the man gasped, the words barely escaping his crushed chest.
Even though his body was pinned flat on ground, he still tried to move his wrist, trying to aim the gun towards Leo.
He couldn’t raise the gun, but he still thought that he could at least protect himself. All he had to do was shoot Leo’s feet. After he fell down, he could shoot his head without having to raise his gun.
He was certain that this strange gravity was because of Leo. Only my taking him down could survive.
Leo didn’t answer. He simply looked at the young man, as if he could already read that person’s mind.
He didn’t give the young fool a chance to take him down. Before the young man could fire, he suddenly cried like he was dying from pain. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
It wasn’t that the gravity had intensified even more. Instead, a plasman laser struck his hand, leaving a hole in it.
It was also the hand that was holding the gun. With his hand taken out, the young man couldn’t even pull the trigger.
Meanwhile, Leo casually reached closer, ignoring the pig-like shrieks of the young man.
He reached down and gripped the man’s bleeding hand.
With a practiced flick of his thumb, he pulled off the right from his finger. With the storage ring finally back in his hand, finally feeling relieved that he had retrieved what belonged to him.
Now that the ring was back on his finger, its biometric lock was also satisfied and all the blocks on the storage access were removed.
He turned his gaze toward the woman. She was shivering. It was as if she had seen a ghost.
She didn’t understand. How was it possible? How did this man return alive from that place? It wasn’t as if they didn’t know about what kind of place was on the other side.
After all, anyone who entered that place, never returned alive. At least that was what they were told by someone.
She clenched her teeth, her throat going dry.
"That doesn’t belong to you," Leo said, reaching out his hand.
The woman looked at the man in the snow, then at the god-like figure standing over them. Her lip trembled. Her fingers shook so violently she could barely move them under the increased weight of the field.
Leo watched her struggle for a moment before sighing.
"Give it here," Leo commanded. "Before I decide that the snow looks better stained violet."
The woman was holding the ring that was worn like a chain. If Leo wanted, he would crush her wrist and make her release the ring. Still, he simply asked her, reaching out his hand.
The woman stared at Leo, gulping heavily. She knew that the ring must be important to this man if he wanted it back so eagerly.
She even wondered if this ring could be used to exchange for their lives. After all, why else would he wait for her to hand it over if he could take it back.
"You can’t snatch it from me, can you? There must be something special about this ring!" She exclaimed, her eyes regaining confidence. "Release us, and beg for our forgiveness! I might be kind enough to return the ring to you!"
Leo didn’t understand a single thing she said, but her expressions looked quite ugly in Leo’s eyes.
"I don’t know what you’re saying, but it looks like you’re refusing me. Is that it?" Leo asked, still frustrated that he couldn’t translate this language.
"Stop talking in a language that I can’t understand! Release us, or I will never return this ring, even if I die!" The girl yelled at Leo, the previous fear was nowhere to be seen.
It was as if she was talking to a subordinate who was doing something wrong.
Leo placed his hand on his waist and tilted his head sideways, noticing that the woman’s grip only tightened instead of becoming loose.
"Are you a fool?" Leo asked, but this time, he didn’t ask for her anymore. He simply aimed his gun towards the woman.
"Hah, are you trying to threaten me? If you could take the ring without my permission, would you have begged me for it? I won’t fall for this! Hurry and release us. Fall on your knees and beg for our forgiveness and I might consider it!"
The woman burst into laughter. "If not-"

The woman had barely finished her sentence when her face went pale as she felt a fierce pain rising from her hand that was holding onto the ring.
No, it was more like her entire hand was obliterated, leaving only the blood stained ring around her neck which had survived the attack.
"You! Do you not want the ring anymore?!" The girl screamed, believing that Leo was still trying to scare her into handing the ring over. Why else would he attack her hand instead of just killing her and taking the ring?
She was horrified because of the pain, but she knew that this was her only chance of survival. She couldn’t fall for this trap and return her own leverage.
Unfortunately for her, she soon realized that she couldn’t be any more wrong, especially since Leo reached out his hand, and snatched the ring from the chain.
"What?! How can you..." The girl felt a sharp pull around her neck, and her chain shattered. Leo had taken the ring back.
Leo wiped the blood stain from the ring, using the girl’s clothes. Only after that, he wore the ring on his finger.
Unfortunately, the moment Leo wore the ring, his expressions twisted in disbelief. The ring recognized him, and similarly, he was also able to feel the ring on his finger.
That’s why he grew furious. It was because the ring had a much weaker aura. At the start, the ring could protect him three times. He had already used it to save his life once. The aura left on the ring was enough to protect him two more times.
However, that aura was much weaker now. It was as if the ring had already protected him once more and he didn’t know about it.
When he thought about it, his expressions couldn’t help but grow worse. His face turned cold, looking at the people beneath his feet.
He realized what might have happened! These people... They had killed him! Or rather, they tried to.
He had thought that even though these people were bad, at least they were sensible enough to not get blood directly on their hands. After all, they had simply tossed him into another world when they could have directly killed him.
Only now he realized that it wasn’t the case. Everything became clear in his mind.
These people had actually tried to kill him when he had fallen unconscious. It was just that his ring had saved his life.
Because of that, these people had a misunderstanding that he couldn’t be killed. It made them want to toss this strange human into the other world portal so that he would never return to being a threat to them.
They didn’t know that he was protected by the ring that they had snatched later.
Leo felt so furious that it wouldn’t be strange if he passed out from anger.
These people hadn’t simply robbed his items but also robbed a life from him, something that was so precious that it couldn’t be bought, no matter how much money one had.
After all, it wasn’t as if he could return to Seraphim and ask them for another ring.
While Leo was reeling from mental shock, a person snuck out of the villa and slowly approached him from the back, not making any noise just like the first time they had struck him on the back.
