Book 16: Chapter 62: There Will Be Answers

Lin Xi saw a lot of dazzling golden radiance.

He also saw Qin Xiyue whose lips almost froze solid in the golden radiance.

He looked at her, not saying anything.

However, Qin Xiyue also understood his expression.

Since they reunited again, he wouldn’t let her die in front of him.

Endless pure light poured out from Lin Xi’s body and entered Qin Xiyue, forming a dazzling bridge of light.

Lin Xi’s heart surged with even more emotions.

All of the reunions and miracles of this world made him treasure the sincerity and affections of this world, and made all of the confidence that was leaking out of him return. He suddenly felt that everything that seemed impossible had a chance of being possible.

The light gradually dimmed. Qin Xiyue saw the sky become a gorgeous shade of blue once more. She felt even more from Lin Xi’s sight. Her body began to tremble slightly again. Without any excessive words, she looked at the piece of golden armor tightly gripped in Lin Xi’s hands, full of expectation as she quietly asked, “What is this?”

“This is a sign… a sign Principal Zhang left behind.”

Lin Xi spoke the words she wanted to hear. She almost screamed out, as if she had been reborn.

“Come on guys… My legs are about to give out here! Don’t you youngsters have any respect for your seniors… walk a bit faster out of consideration for me? Not only are you all walking so slowly, are you waiting for me to lend you a hand or something?”

Another weak voice sounded, indicating another reunion.

Gu Xinyin’s words were just as willful as before. But no matter how irritating his words were, no matter how many beatings he was owed, he had always been the one the academy reminisced about the most, the who they were most happy to see return.

“Seems like we ended up drifting away quite far. I fired a couple signals already, but none of you saw it.” Gu Xinyin slapped away some frozen dregs stuck to him, directly setting up a tent. He didn’t even ask much about their experiences. Judging from the signals and expressions on their faces, he could roughly guess what happened between the three of them.

“For better or for worse, you guys found that place.” He sat down on a special blanket and looked at Lin Xi, Nangong Weiyang and Qin Xiyue. After coughing lightly two times, he continued, “The most important thing is that all of you are still alive.”

Nangong Weiyang was a freak to begin with, she wouldn’t ever carry too many excessive emotions. That was why after they all sat together in this cramped tent, she thought for a bit before saying, “You already found this place a long time ago… Just what kind of trail did you use to look for Principal Zhang?”

“I didn’t think much in the beginning. I figured if I was in Principal Zhang’s shoes, I’ll definitely continue north, do my best to venture into the depths of Frozen God Domain first. Then, I also ran into these cowardly fiend beasts. Afterwards, only after following some of the fleeing fiend beasts, did I notice this place where those True Dragon Guards died.” The thin and pallid Gu Xinyin said in high spirits with a smile, “Since they are fiend beasts, then they have to eat something, right? With such a huge group, the place they live in is definitely completely different from most places in this Frozen God Domain. Even if they weren’t some historical remains, as long as there’s a place where it’s not so freaking cold, let us catch a break, then it’ll serve as a solid rest stop. This’ll make our exploration in Frozen God Domain way safer. In the end, this plan failed when I realized just how massive this place is. I was already exhausted from all the chasing, but I still had no idea where these things’ stupid nest was.”

Nangong Weiyang calmly nodded. “This plan is indeed a bit of a failure.”

“So this is the guide post Principal Zhang left us?” Gu Xinyin revealed a smile. He licked his somewhat frozen and splitting lips before giving Lin Xi a look. Apart from the initial respectful greeting he showed him when they first reunited, the two didn’t converse at all. He looked at that piece of golden armor in his hands and said, “You can probably understand Principal Zhang’s symbols, right? Honestly, all I’m hoping for now is that Principal Zhang’s place isn’t too far from here.”

Gu Xinyin’s way of talking was a bit frivolous, but Lin Xi, Nangong Weiyang and Qin Xiyue all understood his intentions.

Regardless of whether it was Gu Xinyin or themselves, their bodies’ conditions weren’t looking too good. They wouldn’t be able to last that much longer.

“The place he is talking about is still extremely far from us.” Lin Xi looked at this golden armor piece in his hands that represented a different world. But before Gu Xinyin, Nangong Weiyang and Qin Xiyue could feel dispirited, he immediately added, “But senior, your original intention was correct. We can head to these fiend beasts’ territory to recover our stamina. This was what he did back then too.”

The smile on Gu Xinyin’s face completely vanished.

The instant his smile vanished, his eyes were completely filled with undisguised weariness.

He didn’t come from the same place as Lin Xi and Principal Zhang, didn’t have their unique qualities. However, the words ‘Principal Zhang’ possessed extraordinary meaning for him and all of Yunqin’s people, naturally possessing significance Lin Xi didn’t feel.

“Where do these fiend beasts live?” He now completely relaxed, no longer feeling any impatience either. He asked this in a gentle manner.

“It is a warm lake.” Lin Xi looked at the other three and added, “Geothermal heat has melted the glaciers in that area into a lake, a place that will even make others feel nice and warm. There are many low level creatures there as well. Principal Zhang said that there is a type of sea cucumber that tastes great and can even greatly replenish our energy there.”

Gu Xinyin, Nangong Weiyang and Qin Xiyue already unknowingly entered a peaceful and listening state.

Gu Xinyin’s eyes stopped deeply over the golden armor piece in Lin Xi’s hands again. “Is there anything else written there? What else did he say?”

“He has also said that once we enter this hot sea and these fiend beasts realize that we aren’t there to fight over their food, a type of rotting sludge made from plants, then they’ll begin to live with us in harmony.” Lin Xi looked at Gu Xinyin and slowly said, “He even told us that after we cross this hot sea, we’ll reach our ultimate destination after another three weeks or so of travel: the legendary Green Luan Palace’s remains.”

“He has also stated that apart from Divine Generals, no one else in this world might be able to enter Green Luan Palace.”

“He said that if there really is someone like me who appears, then I’ll definitely be able to enter Green Luan Palace and obtain what he left inside. He also said that if he only left behind these things and didn’t end up returning to Green Luan Academy, then something definitely happened to him while exploring.”

Gu Xinyin, Nangong Weiyang and Qin Xiyue’s breathing suddenly stopped momentarily.

Lin Xi raised his head. He understood the expressions in their eyes, but he shook his head. “There’s already nothing else on this piece of armor.”

“That is why there is no way of knowing what happened to him,” Nangong Weiyang frowned. She looked at Lin Xi and said, “but as long as we can enter Green Luan Palace, we’ll get all of our answers.”

“I hope that he is still alive and that he is just trapped inside.” Qin Xiyue couldn’t help but say quietly, “I believe that someone like him will definitely have a way to remain safe no matter what kind of danger he ends up encountering.”

“I agree.” Nangong Weiyang looked at Lin Xi and said, “You’ve said before that Divine General precisely means that you can give anything a try.”

“This thing didn’t say that there were any dangers in Green Luan Palace. If Green Luan Palace is a place of death, then he would have left behind some warnings to prevent later generations from heading over.” Lin Xi nodded his head. He obviously hoped that Principal Zhang was alive as well, but he also knew that Nangong Weiyang’s first sentence was also correct. Only by heading inside would they receive the ultimate answer they sought.
