Immortal In A Death Game-Chapter 160: The Crazies
Five seconds. The other members of the RLRD have been staring at Adam for a full five seconds, but all of them were still doing their own thing.
This felt... incredibly weird. He glanced at Harvey, and he didn’t seem to think much of this as he was even smiling and nodding his head at Adam.
Adam looked at Beatrice, but she left and made her way to the kitchen area, stepping around the woman talking to herself without interrupting her. She began pulling out various snacks and drinks, counting the available glasses.
And then, finally, they began to move. The one drumming placed his hands down. The shadows covering the man next to the window started to recede. The woman flying beneath the ceiling stopped.
The woman with the stone sculptures stood gracefully, her creations following her like obedient pets. She approached with a smile that somehow made Adam more nervous.
The drummer also approached... but there was a rhythm to his steps that almost made it seem like he was dancing. The massive man, eating his fish, also set down his food and started to approach, tapping on the frantic man who was pacing around the area.
Suffice it to say, Adam had never met a weirder group of people like this.
Your long-lost relatives, perhaps? Shut up.
"Everyone, meet Adam the Endless," Harvey smirked with pride. He then pointed at the one with the stone puppets, "Adam, this is Leona—"
"The Mother of Stones." The woman, Leona, lightly pushed Harvey to the side. Her voice was... eerily calm, almost hypnotic. "Welcome to our little family, Adam... the Endless. Hmn."
"Ma’am." Adam said respectfully as he reached out his hand.
"Oh my. Such a formal young man." Leona giggled, shaking his hand. Her grip was surprisingly strong, and he could feel calluses.
"This hyperactive guy is Evan—"
The drummer practically vibrated with excitement.
"First Boom! Evan the First Boom," he said, extending his hand. The moment Adam shook it, he felt a small shockwave travel up his arm. "Sorry, sorry! Still calibrating today’s output. I knew it. I just knew that was going to happen!"
"...Sir," Adam nodded.
"The big guy is Caleb—"
"Giant’s Tusk," the massive man, Caleb, smiled at Adam, his hand almost covering Adam’s entire arm. Adam thought he wasn’t going to meet anyone bigger than Bjorn, but here he was.
"Sir.".
"Ryan over there is our—"
The nervous man hurried over, constantly glancing back at his furry companion who was sitting at the corner.
"My title is the Death Farmer," he said quickly. "D-don’t mind my title, I’m not... I’m not evil. And please, don’t mind Buster, he’s friendly. Mostly. Usually. Today, anyway."
"Sir," Adam said, glancing at the furry creature at the corner.
"Sabrina up there—"
The floating woman zipped down so fast Adam barely saw her move.
"Quick Gale!" she said. "Nice-to-meet-you-heard-you’re-really-strong-is-it-true-you-can’t-die-that’s-so-cool-can-you-teach-me-how-to-do-that?"
"Ma’am...?" Adam blinked, not even understanding a single word Sabrina said.
"Derek in the shadows—"
The man emerged partially from his darkness, extending a hand that felt surprisingly warm.
"Shade of Suspicion," he said quietly... then also placed his other hand on Adam’s. "I trust you more than most already."
"Sir...?"
"Mira there—"
The woman, who was seated at the very center and had been glaring at him, finally approached.
"Mira the Liquid Chimera," she said. She still seemed to be glaring at Adam. But there was no hostility in her voice so Adam still shook her hand.
"Hm...?" Her palm felt... odd. It was almost as if something was moving between their fingers. But of course—
"Ma’am," Adam said, trying not to be rude.
"And finally, Selena there talking to herself—"
"Ah! Is it my turn, then?" The woman, Selena, moved around the counter. She stood in front of Adam, slightly lifting her skirt as she bowed to him. "Welcome to our merry band of misfits and malcontents. I am sure you’ll fit right in."
"Ma’am," Adam said, returning a slight bow.
And as soon as everyone was done introducing themselves, Beatrice emerged from the kitchen carrying a tray loaded with sandwiches, chips, and drinks.
And as soon as he placed it at the center table, everyone left Adam. The only one who didn’t leave was Leona, who gestured to him to come and join them.
Adam didn’t really know what to do at all, but seeing everyone sitting on the floor around the table. He felt almost... almost... he didn’t really know the word for it.
Stop it, Adam. Stop deluding yourself that you actually belong anywhere.
And so, he followed Leona and sat beside her on the floor.
"So, Adam..." Leona tilted her head. One of her stone companions grabbed a sandwich and then handed it to Adam. "Tell us about yourself."
"Oh, uh..." Adam blinked several times, staring at the small golem in front of him that was desperately trying to hand him the sandwich. He shook his head, grabbing the sandwich carefully when he realized the golem was struggling.
"...I’m sorry."
"Oh." And as soon as Leona heard him apologize to her golem, a smile quickly crept on her face. She tilted her head to the other side and slightly scooched closer to him. "Thank you for telling us about yourself, Adam."
"Ma’am...?" Adam muttered, confused.
"T-that..." Surprisingly, the second one to talk to him was Ryan, who threw a piece of salami toward Buster. Buster, however, didn’t turn around. "What are your... abilities, Sir Adam?"
"I... can heal quickly," Adam said. "Regeneration."
The room went quiet. Even Evan stopped his constant tapping.
"How... quickly?" Mira asked, her glare even more intense now.
"Uhm..." Adam looked at Harvey and Beatrice, who gestured to him to just tell it. "...Enough to keep me alive, Ma’am."
"Ma’am...?" Mira raised an eyebrow. "Sto—"
"Alright." Before Mira could say anything else, Caleb stood up, almost pushing the others due to his massive body.
"Show us."
Adam blinked. "I’m sorry?"
"He meant to showcase your ability to us," Selena repeated, also standing up as she patted her skirt. "Demonstrate this remarkable ability."
They... can’t be serious, right?
But looking around the room, Adam saw nothing but serious expressions. Once again, they were staring at him.
"I... okay," Adam said slowly.
The energy in the room immediately shifted. Everyone sat up straighter, leaning forward with anticipation.
"Ooh, this is exciting!" Evan started drumming on his knees. "I’ve got fifty on the big guy!"
"I wager a hundred on Caleb as well," Selena said.
Adam looked confused. But soon, he realized what was happening.
"Wait..." Adam turned to Harvey. "...Am I going to fight him?"
"Yup." Harvey shrugged. "And make sure to win... 𝘧𝓇ℯ𝑒𝓌𝑒𝑏𝓃𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘭.𝒸ℴ𝓂
"...I got 200 on you, man."
I was wrong, Adam. You absolutely do belong here—you’re all mentally insane.
