Immortal of the Nine Realms-Chapter 35: Threaten
Chapter 35: Threaten
Fang Zhixue's face darkened and she stared coldly at the leader.
"Little lass, you’re so pretty. You should smile more. Come on, come on, smile for me," the leader said provocatively, a lecherous smile stuck on his face.
Yuan Zhuang instantly exploded. He had been worried that trouble might find its way to them. But he didn’t expect that it would actually happen. That guy was practically tired of living!
"You little asshole, can't you clean your mouth a little when a lady is around?" Yuan Zhuang sneered.
"Oh, who the hell do you think you are? Do you think I, your Granddaddy Lu, need your input when I’m talking?" The leader turned his focus toward Yuan Zhuang, his gaze berating.
Yuan Zhuang was taken aback. Were they really seeking death? Even if they didn’t recognize Divine General Fang and himself, an official of the Grand Brilliance Bureau, they should be able to make out Yuan Yu’s constable uniform.
"You've got some nerve," Yuan Yu spoke up, her tone cold.
"Another female constable! Hahaha! Look at this, guys. We've got a female constable here on Chief Dragon Street. Look at her figure and her appearance! Her skin is a tad bit dark, but she’s pretty good-looking. Hehe. Now that I took a closer look, she's actually quite attractive," the leader said, not showing any fear. His subordinates joined in, laughing and leering at Yuan Yu, their expressions wreathed in lust.
Yuan Yu was utterly taken aback. This was her first day on the job. She never expected to run into such audacious troublemakers who seemed to disregard constables to such a degree.
Are the hooligans on Chief Dragon Street all this daring? she wondered.
Fang Chen stood by and observed silently, coldness in his eyes.
At that moment, Granddaddy Lu’s lecherous smile fell, and he turned serious. He looked at Yuan Yu. "Remember; this is Chief Dragon Street. Constables like you from the Inner City better stay away from here. If I see you again, I will cut off your legs. I don’t care about what background you might have, either." (f)reenovelkiss
Yuan Zhuang expression sank, seemingly understanding something. He stepped closer to them and said, "I am Yuan Zhuang, the head investigator of the Grand Brilliance Bureau. Who sent you here?"
"Head investigator of the Grand Brilliance Bureau?" Granddaddy Lu seemed momentarily puzzled, but soon burst into laughter. His crook friends joined him. Their laughter was filled with disdain.
In their eyes, the head investigator of the Grand Brilliance Bureau was just a commander who led a group of constables. He was nothing.
Yuan Yu was so angry she took her saber out of its sheath. "You dare to harass innocent women on the streets and threaten a constable of the Grand Brilliance Bureau! All of you are coming with me!"
"Do you think you’re qualified?" Granddaddy Lu sneered and threw a punch. His fist released a powerful burst of energy, forming a white dragon. It collided with Yuan Yu’s saber, shattering it easily.
She was immediately stunned.
Yuan Zhuang's expression fluctuated wildly. He never expected the other party to be in the Qi Detonation Stage. Were there really such powerful individuals on Chief Dragon Street?
"Do you still want to take me to the Grand Brilliance Bureau?" Granddaddy Lu chuckled coldly.
Seeing that the man was so cocky, Fang Zhixue immediately rolled up her sleeves and prepared to show off her skills.
She was held back by Fang Chen.
Fang Chen smiled and turned to Yuan Zhuang. "Yuan Zhuang, aren't you at the early Qi Detonation Stage? Your subordinate’s saber was shattered by her opponent. Aren’t you going to do anything?”
“All of you are going back to the Grand Brilliance Bureau with us today!” Yuan Zhuang roared with rage. The aura around him changed. He was no longer the obedient official cowering before Fang Chen. That instant, he revealed his strength!
"You take the rest. I will deal with the head investigator." Granddaddy Lu ordered his subordinates and leapt to the fray, meeting Yuan Zhaung. They started exchanging blows, each of their clashes filled with fierceness. Their back-and-forth exchanges caused strong shockwaves to fill the area. The weaker martial artists in the area hastily scurried away. After all, even the smaller, trailing shockwaves that followed were a great threat to martial artists of their level.
The commoners nearby quickly went into hiding as well. They were afraid of being dragged into the mess.
Granddaddy Lu's subordinates chuckled sinisterly as their gazes landed on Yuan Yu and Fang Zhixue. Just as they were about to make their move, Xu Ge arrived.
He didn’t draw his sword but chopped the back of their necks with his hand, causing all of them to lose their ability to fight back.
“Big Brother, why didn’t you let me fight? it’s such a rare opportunity...” Fang Zhixue grumbled with dissatisfaction.
Fang Chen chuckled softly. “If Father and Mother were to learn that you fought with these hoodlums, I’d definitely receive a huge scolding when I get back.”
Yuan Yu didn’t know Xu Ge’s origins, but seeing how quickly he dealt with the hoodlums, she realized that he wasn’t an ordinary coachman, and a look of shock flashed through her eyes.
“My lord, I think I’ve figured it out. All these guys are goons who received a bit of money to cause trouble.”
Bang!
Yuan Zhuang was struck with a powerful blow from Granddaddy Lu and was sent tumbling over near Fang Chen. Looking up, he saw Fang Chen’s lowered head, a shadow over his eyes, and shame instantly consumed him.
"Both of you are at the early Qi Detonation Stage, yet you can’t defeat him. When we get back, I want you to reflect on what happened today,” Fang Chen advised. Shaking his head, he turned to Xu Ge. “Go, take him down.”
“Yes.” Xu Ge nodded before walking toward the self-proclaimed Granddaddy, who seemed extremely pleased with himself after he knocked Yuan Zhuang down. However, when he saw his subordinates sprawled on the street, he knew that something had gone wrong, and he stared at Xu Ge in rage.
“You are the Windy Cloud Swordsm—” Realization hit him too late.
Bang!
Xu Ge didn’t draw his sword this time either. He dashed forward, landing several attacks on the leader’s solar plexus. Next, he went for the rest of his key joints, stripping away his movement.
“He truly deserves his reputation as the Windy Cloud Swordsman...” Yuan Zhuang felt envious.
As the head investigator of the Grand Brilliance Bureau, he obviously knew Xu Ge’s background.
"Take them to see Granny Wu," Fang Chen instructed.
Xu Ge nodded, and he entered the house.
In the courtyard, Granddaddy Lu and the others were lying powerlessly on the street. But they didn’t seem frightened. In fact, they were as insolent as ever. After recognizing Xu Ge, the leader continued to threaten, “Windy Cloud Swordsman, how dare you step into this mess? Don’t think that you can do whatever you want just because you’re at the peak of the Qi Detonation Stage.”
Xu Ge glanced at him and didn't bother replying. It was true that he couldn’t do everything he wanted, but the person he served could! Those clowns couldn’t even recognize Fang Chen and had the guts to threaten them. Laughable.
“Windy Cloud Swordsman? Are you one of the ten great peak Qi Detonation Stage experts in our capital city?!” Yuan Yu gasped. She was astonished. But she quickly got over it. It was not that surprising that the great Divine General Fang had several experts by his side.
“Lord Yuan? Is that you? Why is it so noisy out there?” Granny Wu's voice was frail and hoarse as she called out.
"Xu Ge, tell me the results of your investigation," Fang Chen said with a smile.
Xu Ge gave a brief answer. "The Wu siblings who used to live here had lost their parents at a young age."
"What!?" Yuan Zhuang was shocked.
There was a moment of silence that lingered in the air.
"Bring her out," Fang Chen ordered.
Xu Ge nodded and went back into the house. Soon, he brought the struggling Granny Wu out. Her hair covered her face, and she seemed to be in an extremely disheveled state. She was crying out in fright, "What are you doing? What do you want?"
