In Another World, Everyone Want to Kill Me!-Chapter 283: The Night Yue Mingxuan Disappeared
From the outside, the scene might have looked rather ominous, but the people inside had no mind to worry about whether they might be frightening anyone.
Yin Su nodded.
"I noticed it too. During the day, I asked him whether practicing at night felt different in any way. Mingxuan said every day feels different. If the night practice feels easy, then he’ll be exhausted during the day. If the night practice is painful and difficult, then he wakes up feeling refreshed and clear-headed. Just what kind of martial art is this Ninefold Celestial Mystery?"
Rong Qinglei had already sent his subordinate to investigate the matters in the martial world.
Unfortunately, the information they uncovered was the same as what the others already knew: decades ago, there had been a woman connected to this technique.
Beyond that, the details were unclear.
How the manual had ended up in Consort Wan’s possession and whether she had actually begun practicing it, remained complete mysteries.
"So what about Consort Wan?" Wang Jian suddenly spoke up and directed the question toward Yin Su.
He knew that Yin Su belonged to the Flying Opera Group.
The matters like gathering information often passed through the hands of people from places connected to pleasure houses and the wandering world.
Even though Yin Su neither accepted missions nor entertained guests, being part of the Flying Opera Group meant she must have access to certain channels of information.
Yin Su shrugged lightly. "From what I’ve managed to find out, this Consort Wan was originally named Miao Lingwan. She seemed to be a woman from the Miao territories, though she had been away from home for many years. As for how she entered the palace, how she became a concubine, or how she died, no one knows. I couldn’t find anything about that either."
With that, the matter seemed to have reached a dead end.
Suddenly, the sound of a door opening came from outside.
Shang Qinghua turned his head to glance in that direction.
It wasn’t the door to their room.
That meant it could only be Yue Mingxuan’s chamber.
The group exchanged glances and immediately rushed out.
When they reached Yue Mingxuan’s room, however, they found it completely empty.
The person who should have been sleeping soundly in bed had vanished.
"Prince Yur!" Mo Yi’s shout echoed from the distance.
Everyone hurried toward the sound.
Just in time to see Yue Mingxuan lightly vault over the palace wall.
Yin Su froze for a moment.
She clearly remembered that Yue Mingxuan had barely begun learning lightness skills.
The palace walls were so high, how had he managed to leap over them?
She hesitated for only a heartbeat before flipping over the wall herself.
But once she landed on the other side, Yue Mingxuan was already gone.
There wasn’t a single footprint on the ground.
It seemed that the moment he came out, he had jumped straight into the trees.
Looking up, they could see the branches swaying, yet there was no sign of him.
At that moment, everyone grew anxious.
In the pitch-dark night, where could he possibly have gone?
"At the very least, Mingxuan wasn’t abducted," Wang Jian said quickly. "General Mo only called his name, which means he left on his own. Maybe something happened. Let’s split up and search. Gongsun Xing and I will go east. Rong Qinglei, you head south. Shang Qinghua, go north. We’ll have Jin Yong take the west. Yin Su, go straight to the Flying Opera Group."
Everyone nodded and immediately set off.
In truth, Jin Yong had been stationed on the roof the entire time and had seen Yue Mingxuan rush out. But Yue Mingxuan had moved so quickly that it startled him.
He had never known Yue Mingxuan possessed such lightness skills, nor that he could run so fast.
By the time Mo Yi shouted for him to join the search, Yue Mingxuan had already disappeared without a trace.
Realizing the seriousness of the situation, he began searching at once.
Yin Su raced all the way back to the Flying Opera Group.
Gu Xiang was sitting at the entrance while gazing up at the night sky.
Yin Su’s sudden arrival startled her.
A hint of displeasure crossed her face.
These days, Yin Su followed only Yue Mingxuan.
Yue Mingxuan himself had issued orders that Yin Su was to take commands from him alone.
The other pavilion masters had no authority over her.
There was little Gu Xiang could do about it.
"What are you doing, rushing back here all of a sudden?" Gu Xiang asked.
Yin Su leaned against the pillar at the gate, catching her breath. "Has the group leader returned? Have you seen him?"
Gu Xiang frowned in confusion but shook her head. "The group leader hasn’t come back during this period. What happened?"
Yin Su briefly explained the situation, mentioning only that Yue Mingxuan had been practicing martial arts, without specifying which technique.
Gu Xiang immediately mobilized many of the Flying Opera Group’s sisters to search as well.
But still, there were no results.
Finally, just before dawn, Shang Qinghua found Yue Mingxuan collapsed beside a small stream far from the palace.
One of Yue Mingxuan’s hands still lay in the water.
His entire body was soaked as though he had just climbed out of the stream.
As Shang Qinghua lifted him into his arms, the corner of his eye caught something nearby.
He had been to this place before.
If he remembered correctly, there had once been an enormous stone not far away, nearly taller than Yue Mingxuan himself.
It was said that a strongman had carried it there many years ago.
Ever since, no one had been able to move it, so it had remained there.
But now, the stone was gone.
All that remained were fragments scattered across the ground.
Many of them had already turned to fine powder, drifting away with the wind.
Shang Qinghua stared in shock.
Then he lowered his gaze to Yue Mingxuan in his arms.
