"Human, I believe we will meet again very soon. I hope that when we do, you will still be as you are now."
Hapthatra retreated to the Silent King’s side, disdaining to argue with Zeke any further.
"Are you certain, human?" The Judicator Prime looked at Zeke and continued to ask, "This is your last chance. Join us; this is to save yourselves."
Zeke merely continued to shake his head. The Judicator Prime raised a hand and swept it across the surrounding Necron legions.
"Whether you believe it or not, human, we Necrons are the most concerned about the survival of the human race. This pertains to stakes of the grandest scale. Perhaps one day, you will finally understand what I mean."
"Until then, I hope you do not regret the decision you have made."
The Judicator Prime stepped back. This cooperation negotiation was over.
The Silent King’s eyes fixed upon Zeke through the Sanguinius mask. Zeke neither retreated nor feared, staring right back at the Silent King. It was a pity he wasn’t there in person and couldn’t see the Silent King’s health bar, so Zeke couldn’t estimate his exact strength.
"Wait a minute!" Just before the projection was about to close, Zeke shouted loudly. He waved his hand, looking at the densely packed, kneeling Necrons on the screen.
"Trazyn, are you there?!" Zeke yelled out casually. "If you are, don’t forget what you promised me earlier—the thing about the End!"
A flash of anger surfaced on Hapthatra’s face. Just as he was about to reprimand this human, the projection abruptly ended.
Calm returned to the Hall of the Council of Blood. Everyone fell into deep thought, reviewing everything that had just occurred.
That was until Guilliman broke the silence. "Sanguinius, you need to explain this to me."
"My brother, you know me. My heart is entirely for the Imperium; my loyalty is clear to the heavens," Sanguinius said.
"I believe you," Guilliman enunciated every word clearly. "But you never mentioned a single word to me about having an alliance with the Necrons."
Seeing that Guilliman was going to get to the bottom of this, Sanguinius turned to Zeke.
"Zeke, you are the one who saved Guilliman. I heard that when saving him, there were also a few special xenos guests present. Is this true?"
The offensive had flipped; now the attacker was Sanguinius.
Zeke, never one to shy away from stirring the pot, said, "It’s true. It was Yvraine of the Aeldari; she assisted in saving Guilliman."
"Oh? An Aeldari lady had such a kind heart to travel thousands of miles for no other purpose than to save Guilliman?" Sanguinius smiled faintly, half-joking. "Guilliman, it seems you haven’t mentioned the details of this to me either."
Zeke also looked at Guilliman. Back then, after saving Guilliman, the Lord Regent did indeed have a long, private conversation with Yvraine.
Guilliman was left completely speechless at this.
Right. Perhaps just like him, Sanguinius’s cooperation with the Necrons was also born out of absolute necessity—an unspeakable difficulty.
"Hey, we’re all family here. Why don’t you two just clear the air and speak frankly with each other? Be a bit more honest," Zeke said.
"If there’s a problem, say it. Putting it out on the table is much better than hiding it in private. Don’t learn from those guys in the Dark Angels Chapter, where every little thing has to be a secret every single day."
As Zeke said this, he felt a chilly breeze on the back of his head. He looked behind him, but there was nothing there.
Complete honesty? Guilliman and Sanguinius looked at each other.
"I’ll go first," Guilliman stepped forward and spoke slowly.
"At the time, I had just awakened from ten thousand years of slumber. Lady Yvraine of the Aeldari spoke with me privately, conveying a prophecy and a desire to form an alliance with Macragge. Under the pressure of the Black Legion at the time, and considering that this Ynnari faction had saved me, I temporarily chose to ally with them. But I have never let my guard down around them. I would never believe that these Aeldari have such kind intentions."
Sanguinius listened, and then explained his side.
"Although the Necrons treat me with the utmost respect, in their bones, they have always held an attitude of arrogance and contempt toward humanity. Naturally, I would not be beguiled by this kind of respect. I am loyal to the Imperium, without a doubt."
Heart for heart; when things are laid out on the table, everything is easily resolved.
Zeke opportunely pulled out an enchanted book of Loyalty III and opened it. "Actually, the answer is right in here."
Guilliman and Sanguinius saw that the entire enchanted book was filled with just one word.
Loyalty.
Both Guilliman and Sanguinius laughed.
This was an enchanted book. Guilliman was quite familiar with this thing; his sons had been tinkering with them quite a bit recently.
"Guilliman, you will be returning to the Imperium soon, right?" Sanguinius asked.
"Yes. The Indomitus Crusade still has many matters that need to be handled. Thanks to Zeke’s Nether Portal, I could carve out time from state affairs to come see you, but I still cannot leave for too long," Guilliman said seriously.
"I will go with you. I heard you are undertaking an Imperial reclamation campaign called the Indomitus Crusade. With my assistance, everything will go much more smoothly," Sanguinius offered.
"Can you pull yourself away from the many affairs of the Baal system?"
"As you said, with Zeke’s Nether Portal, it won’t take long to travel at all."
"True."
"Speaking of the Indomitus Crusade, there is an important matter I feel necessary to inform you about," Guilliman said, handing out two dataslates, giving one to Zeke and one to Sanguinius.
"Currently, the progress of the Indomitus Crusade is going very smoothly. The systems near Terra have all been reclaimed, and the residual Chaos and xenos forces on them have been purged. The Departmento Munitorum is rebuilding every planet with outstanding efficiency."
The dataslate displayed reports related to the progress of the Indomitus Crusade, which Zeke skimmed through casually.
That was until he saw an anomaly report regarding a sub-sector called the Nephilim Sector.
Within the Indomitus Crusade fleet, logic dictated that upon arriving in a sector, they would receive many astropathic distress signals. Perhaps the wails of citizens begging for salvation, perhaps the roars of battle.
But in the Nephilim Sector, there was no news. Not a single message. Only an eerie, dead silence.
This anomaly report had been marked for priority processing by Guilliman.
The Pariah Nexus. Zeke flipped through the report. This was the evil masterpiece of the Necrons.
No wonder that Phaeron had clamored that they would meet again soon. It seemed the fleet Guilliman sent to the Nephilim Sector had already been detected.
If Trazyn didn’t come looking for him soon, Zeke was going to have to go find him.
Thus, Zeke’s journey on Baal temporarily came to an end.
Right in front of the Arx Angelicum, Zeke once again utilized his traditional ability: he built a camp, preparing to return to Terra through the Nether Portal.
