Infinite Cube: Extra's Life in Another World-Chapter 49: Bank Heist
Chapter 49 - Bank Heist
Back at the southern border, two figures sat beside each other opposite a bank bearing the sign:
"Utility Bank."
Elia, clutching the disposable cup tightly in her hands, turned to Ikenna, who was leisurely eating a cupcake.
"Is it really that sweet?" she asked.
"Hmm," Ikenna attempted to respond, but his words were muffled by the food in his mouth.
After slowly swallowing the food, he answered, "Food is food, isn't it?"
Elia sighed at his words. She had completely forgotten that she was speaking to Ikenna, not an idol who needed to watch their weight.
"Are you sure it's happening?" Ikenna inquired.
Elia nodded; she was at least ninety percent certain that the bank heist incident was going to take place today, and she was also sure that Kai had no intention of intervening.
Why would he? It wasn't like it affected him. But Elia's heart couldn't just stand by and watch over fifty people die.
It wasn't as if she was the strongest character in the novel, or that she thought herself a hero, it was merely a habit she had developed as an idol.
Unconsciously interfering in others' matters wasn't exactly a virtue, and some might even call it hypocrisy, but she didn't care; it was a part of her that kept her alive.
Being respectful, always being present for others, never forgetting to smile gently.
As her gaze fixed on the bank's front door, she immediately noticed a black truck pulling up beside the parking lot.
'It's here.'
This particular incident wasn't well known to readers, or more accurately, it had simply been forgotten.
The bank heist incident was only mildly remembered because the sole survivor later helped Ikenna on his journey.
That was why Elia had brought him instead of anyone else from the group.
The incident involved a group of robbers, whose leader had formed a contract with a demon.
After a year of meticulous planning, they decided to rob the bank owned by one of the eight counties, which, according to the novel, went smoothly.
This led to the deaths of fifty people and the permanent closure of Street 7 at the southern border.
Elia slowly rose to her feet, removing the coat she wore over her zero suit. "Let's go."
Ikenna looked over at her before standing. "We just have to go in and kick ass, right?"
"Is that really the best plan?" Elia asked, glancing at Ikenna, whose hands were tucked into the pockets of his jacket.
"Results are all that matter. Why form an elaborate plan when you can just beat up the small fry?"
Elia had to admit he had a point, there was little reason to strategize when they were only up against a group of thugs, but she couldn't shake off the strange feeling of danger.
Exhaling deeply and steadying her breathing, she moved closer to the building, with Ikenna following closely behind. 'Let's get this over with and head back to the academy.'
Elia and Ikenna slipped past the guards through the back door into the building.
The murmuring of merchants and the chatter of bankers greeted them as they stepped inside.
Moving closer to the position where the man who helped Ikenna in the novel had hidden, Elia summoned her stats and glanced at them briefly before dismissing the screen.
'I need to find the Alligator Powder. Since Kai has already taken the elixir, I can't wield the ability of the Sword God if I can't use a physical sword,' Elia thought.
Cordelia Blackwood, according to the novel, suffered from a strange illness that hindered her potential and reduced her SS-rank trait to an S-rank.
This illness was fairly common in the Blackwood family and didn't impact them much, as they were primarily a family of casters.
But for Elia, an illness that forbade her from handling a sword was the worst curse imaginable, which brought her to the second reason she needed to save the bank:
"The map to the Alligator Dungeon."

Suddenly, loud screams echoed through the bank as gunshots rang out.
"Let's go," Ikenna said, standing from their crouched position.
"No, not yet," Elia replied, pulling him back.
Ikenna turned to her without a word and crouched behind a large flower pot.
The screams growing louder as the robbers terrorized merchants, bank workers, and customers alike.
Elia knew that acting impulsively would ruin the plot, Ikenna would never meet the man, and the robbers wouldn't throw the map out the window.
Yet her body struggled to remain still; the screams weighed heavily on her conscience.
Elia shut her eyes, but the loud sound of glass shattering forced them open again.
Immediately, she pulled Ikenna by the arm. "You take that side," she said, pointing left. "I'll take here."
Without even a nod, Ikenna dashed left, throwing off his jacket onto the tiled floor.
Summoning a ball of flame, Ikenna hurled it toward one of the masked bandits, sending the fireball into his gut.
The bandit shrieked, a loud scream escaping his lips as his entire body ignited with inextinguishable flames.
Before the next bandit could even process the situation, his comrade was reduced to ash.
"Mages..." one of them screamed, his voice trembling with fear. "Mages have appeared!"
At his words, the entire group of ten bandits raised their guard, their faces twisted with a mixture of terror and a flicker of hope.
"Hahaha," one of them laughed darkly, trying to dispel the fear. "Our boss is here... You kids arrived at the wrong time."
"Can you shut up?" Ikenna said, burning the bandit before he could even think about pulling the trigger.
His eyes scanned the room at astonishing speed before landing on a man wearing a fitted suit with golden hair and black eyes.
The man screamed as one of the bandits pulled the trigger on him while smiling smugly at Ikenna.
"Bastard," Ikenna growled, his voice cold.
[YOU HAVE ACTIVATED THE ABILITY: 2ND GENERATION COMBUSTION.]
Crimson mana formed in Ikenna's hands as he layered one palm over the other, their backs facing opposite directions.
A flickering light of flames formed in the small gap between them as his left eye glowed red.
Instantly, the energy within the bullet reversed, causing it to explode inside the gun along with the gunpowder, igniting it.
The bandit was thrown backward, his body convulsing in pain.
Ikenna hurried to the man, ensuring he was unharmed, then positioned himself protectively in front of him, facing the remaining four bandits.
Repeating the same technique, the bandits fell to the floor, their faces and bodies grotesquely melted from the explosions.
"How did you know...?" one of the bandits managed to mutter.
Even Ikenna was stunned by the accuracy of Elia's predictions.
But seeing the faces of the bandits erased any lingering questions.
"I despise scum like you," he muttered with conviction, setting the bandit ablaze.
His life's rule was simple: never leave an enemy alive, no matter who or what they were.

Elia's gaze lingered on the dismembered bodies strewn across the floor. She raised her trembling hands into fists as she locked eyes with the boss of the group.
"You look scared, princess," he said mockingly.
"I won't lie," she answered. "I'm scared. This is the first time I've killed someone, after all."
Her eyes narrowed, staring at her still-trembling hands. "Maybe I'm not fit for the fantasy life."
But Elia knew now was not the time for melodrama.
Swinging her wands, she summoned a barrage of mana swords at the sprinting figure.
His long black hair swayed slightly as his purple eyes radiated a crippling killing intent.
"Is that all you've got, princess?"
Elia took a step back before sending another sword toward his neck. She knew she couldn't access her full power with mere mana swords, but she couldn't allow the maniac to get the better of her.
Raising her hand again, she was abruptly seized by the man's tight grip.
Struggling to break free, Elia felt blood rush from her lips as she crashed into the wall, sending debris flying.
"Hahaha, no fun, princess," he said, scratching his head.
"Do you think you've won?"
The man's gaze shifted to the figure moving within the dust, his face brimming with confidence. "Don't joke with me, missy," he barked, irritation clear in his tone.
"Don't be so mad." Sparks of light gathered in her palms. "Let's just end this here."
A bright light engulfed the room as her figure darted toward him with blinding speed.
[YOU HAVE ACTIVATED THE ABILITY: GODDESS OF SWORD.]
The bandit leader didn't even have time to react before the white blade pierced his neck, decapitating him cleanly.
Elia clutched her shoulder as an unbearable pain surged through her, a muffled scream escaping her lips as her vision blurred.
She dismissed the sword and struggled to stay upright, Ikenna rushing to her side to support her.
The people in the bank looked up at their heroes. Elia's plan had succeeded perfectly.
'Time for the spoils,' she thought, as a bald man, a perfect picture of a bank manager, moved towards them with reverence and joy in his eyes.
"Thank you," he exclaimed. "Thank you so much, heroes!"
The remaining people chorused behind him.
A soft smile graced Elia's lips as she stood tall on her own.
She had completed a task that would forever etch her name in the minds of many.
