Chapter 228: Paths?

"Rahu...they are here."

Yveline’s voice echoed in his mind; her voice seemed amused. Hearing this, his grin widened unnaturally.

"Let’s go, there is finally some entertainment."

With that, he snapped his fingers. All four of them disappeared in an instant.

...

Outside the Divine Sword Sect.

Five mighty auras pressed down as five middle-aged men landed on the ground. Their robes were luxurious with a rising sun pattern on the back.

Overall, they looked majestic.

"Senior brother, that bitch surely has some dare. Openly going against the Empire and even attacking one of the four mighty houses. Has she gone senile?"

One of the younger of the five asked curiously, looking around, he saw that the outer ring of the sect was deserted.

"We don’t know for sure. Also, let me say this. Do not speak foolishly in front of that woman, or else you wouldn’t even know when your head would be on the ground."

The ’Senior Brother’ spoke; his voice was loud and clear.

The rest of them, too, nodded. Taking a single step forward. They all vanished.

...

In front of the Celestia Blade Hall.

The five delegates walked in arrogantly, and the man leading them looked around with a frown. The entire hall was deserted, too.

But then, his gaze shifted upwards...at the massive throne in the center. The ’Senior brother’ named Orion looked at the throne closely.

But...the moment his senses traced the face...His eyes widened in horror! On the throne, there was no Ophelia. Instead, there was a tall, handsome man slouched lazily over the throne. In one of his hands, there was a jug of liquor.

But that wasn’t the reason for her shock; beside him stood a breathtaking and authoritative woman...like a maid. Pouring him liquor.

"O-Ophelia!?"

Orion stumbled back a few steps when he saw the scene. The other five cultivators, too, gawked at this scene.

"Ophelia, my dear. Could you?" Rahu waved his hand and gestured at her lazily.

Ophelia nodded and stepped forward. "The delegates of the Empire, I know you are probably shocked and confused. But let me clear this. The man sitting behind me is the new master of the Divine Sword Sect. My successor and my...master."

Ophelia smiled slyly. Her gaze locked onto Orion’s. Every single move from her body screamed elegance.

"N-NO WAY!!"

"This can’t be real!!"

"Is that guy truly—?"

"Silence!"

Their discussion was abruptly halted when Ophelia’s voice thundered. Her voice suddenly turned cold.

"Not to mention your manners, you don’t even dare greet the new Lord?" A tint of white light flashed in her eyes.

"W-What!!?"

In an instant, the hands of the five delegates dropped to the ground!!

"ARGHHHH!!!!"

The five howled in pain, even though every single one of them was a Soul Tempering Realm cultivator. Ophelia’s sword seemed to ignore every restriction.

The five instantly dropped to their knees.

"We greet the new Lord of the Sect and apologise for our previous behaviour."

But inwardly, rage bubbled like lava inside an active volcano. Such humiliation! It wasn’t done just individually...Even the name of the Holy Sun Empire was dragged in the mud.

But...they couldn’t do shit. Just a flowery fart from Ophelia was enough to kill them a thousand times...over and over.

"Mhm, now state your purpose." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

The leader’s delegate trembled, his severed arm still dripping blood onto the ground. Yet, he didn’t dare show any form of defiance. Lowering his head further, he pressed his forehead against the ground.

"My Lord..." Orion spoke, his voice directed at Rahu. "We have come here bearing the will of her majesty, the Holy Sun Empress."

He paused, and a bead of sweat dropped on the ground. He gritted his teeth and swallowed the fear.

"Her Majesty has issued her decree. The first path...is submission."

He once again gulped before continuing; this time, his intent was directed at Ophelia.

"You are to descend from that throne, kneel, and s-surrender your soul. The Divine Sword Sect will be stripped of its independence and will be reduced to a servant sect of the Empire. All of its resources, territory, cultivation arts, and disciples will belong to the Imperial court."

Ophelia’s eyes narrowed slightly when she heard a dangerous chuckle leave her pretty lips.

"A-And...you, personally, are to be bound in chains and are to be escorted to the capital. There you will kneel before the empress and receive further punishment to repent for your transgressions."

The moment his words left his mouth. A suffocating silence filled the entire room. Let alone the delegates, even Ophelia gulped slightly.

The chilling killing intent released by the man sitting behind her was more than enough to make three of them pass out in sheer horror.

Orion’s breath hitched as he clutched his chest tightly; his heart was beating loudly...way too loudly.

Fear...it was the most primal form of fear he was experiencing.

",,,Continue"

Rahu’s calm voice echoed through the hall, piercing straight to his soul. He inwardly cursed himself for accepting such a suicidal mission, bowing his head further below. He continued.

"The second path...is eradication." His fingers dug into the carpet as his fear intensified.

"T-The Divine Sword Sect will be declared as the traitor organization. Every disciple, elder, and affiliated cultivation arts will be hunted down and exterminated. And their souls would be extracted and r-refined into puppets..."

The moment Orion finished his words, he collapsed on the hard floor beneath him. His mind could no longer handle the psychological pressure. It was better to die unconscious rather than be tortured to death.

"Heh, Ophelia. I have to say, they have some spine," Rahu smirked, gulping another jug of liquor, which prompted Ophelia to hurriedly fill it.

"Mhm, it seems the Empress wants to make an example out of me." Ophelia chuckled, but the light in her eyes said otherwise.

"Since she is so badass to write such kind words, isn’t it my duty to reply in the same manner?" Rahu laughed out loud.

"That is true, my dear. What are you planning to do?" Ophelia asked curiously; she, of course, didn’t believe he would take this insult lying down.

"Heh, do this..."
