Infinite Origin Summoner:Rise of Good for Nothing Extra-Chapter 49: Faceless Demon
"Damn, this place is big...?" Zarek whistled out loud and said in a loud tone. The ground below his feet blurred past. Tall green trees that looked like they were older than time itself filled his vision. Just one look and Zarek felt incredibly invigorated, as if his spirit had been lifted, a new energy coursing through his veins.
Just as he was thinking, the flying carriage automatically descended and began its journey downward. Slowly its magnetic nature weakened as it descended downward on the designated landing location. Servants and special workers meant to take care of the higher-profile landing rushed out.
The flying carriage in which Zarek was traveling was no ordinary one, but something only used by powerful guests or direct members of the Silversword family.
There was a flurry of movement on the landing strip, and multiple colorful lights lit up and guards dressed in full body armor secured the perimeters.
Meanwhile, as the personnel silently moved, they discussed among themselves in hushed tones. "Old patriarch had just returned and these greedy bastards are all rushing to meet him."
"Can’t they let his old bones rest for some time?"
Their voices were filled with complaint. It was normal for important guests to arrive one after the other once the old patriarch had returned. Some were here to win the Silversword family’s favor, and some just purely here to kiss the old man’s ass.
Still, their concern for the old man’s wellbeing sounded genuine. All of them present here seemed to care about the old man’s wellbeing genuinely, and why would they not? After all, not once in their life had the old man wronged them.
Just as they were thinking, blood lightning flashed in the sky, followed by a loud rumble that made it appear as if the sky was collapsing.
Most of the awakeners present here were familiar with this scene and immediately the image of an old figure appeared in their head. He himself was here.
Realizing something, the way they looked at the descended flying carriage changed. What sort of status did the person inside the carriage have to force the old patriarch to come out himself?
The next moment, a wild and unrestrained laughter echoed across the heavens like thunder.
"Good grandson! Do you know how much this old man missed you in these past few months?" Old man Bloodbane’s eyebrows rose like two fierce dragons and his rows of razor-sharp teeth were out on display for everyone to see.
He was very happy at the prospect of seeing his Zarek again.
The gate of the flying carriage automatically opened, revealing the figures of Zarek and Zerin walking out simultaneously.
Zerin’s eyes, filled with restrained caution, were focused on the figure radiating pressure heavy enough to crush her to meat paste.
Meanwhile, although Zarek had never seen this figure in his life, a name automatically appeared in his head.
"Grandfather Bloodbane..."
The wild and unrestrained aura like a dragon and those eyes which had no expression except the joy of finally seeing his grandson.
It was at this moment Zarek realized what true unconditional love was.
Zarek Silversword’s mother had disappeared immediately after giving birth. Growing up, his father never loved him for some reason, only favoring his elder son over Zarek in each and everything. It was only the presence of grandfather Bloodbane which prevented Zarek from growing into an absolutely evil entity.
"Grandfather..." Without saying anything, Zarek’s steps quickened and in barely a few moments he was hugging the old man Bloodbane’s figure.
Bloodbane also didn’t avoid him and patted his back before lifting him up to put Zarek on his shoulders, just like in the childhood days.
Zarek was stunned, not expecting to be treated as nothing more than a toddler. However, he couldn’t complain.
Meanwhile, from start to finish, Zerin was completely ignored. Even then, Zerin was sweating buckets. All this time, a heavy aura radiating killing intent had locked onto her figure, making it difficult for her to move.
With her figure shaking like dry leaves under a roaring storm, she raised her head to look at the figure of the old man Bloodbane. She was sure the source of this intense killing intent was none other than from this old man.
Step by step, old man Bloodbane’s figure disappeared. It was only then that the crowd returned to normal, inadvertently letting out sighs of relief. Although the old man hadn’t targeted them, still they felt as if the weight of the whole world had been placed on their shoulders.
Most of them knew the old man wasn’t purposefully doing it—it was just the normal pressure that weaker sequence awakeners experienced under the effect of higher-ranked awakeners.
It was a blessing that it was old man Bloodbane they were in the presence of. If it was someone else, they would have burst into particles of blood.
Just as they were about to return to their usual duties, a shocked scream that almost ruptured their eardrums echoed in every direction.
"How wonderful! Hahaha... What good news! My youngest grandson actually managed to awaken...!"
...
Following that shocking scream, a week had passed in the blink of an eye. A shocking piece of news had started to spread.
The good-for-nothing young master of the Silversword family had awakened a class...
Extremely overjoyed by the news, the old man Bloodbane had decided to throw a grand banquet to celebrate, inviting all the major figures of the continent to celebrate.
...
"So he had truly lost all of his memories..." Old man Bloodbane commented while gazing at Zarek’s figure practicing a sword stance in the distance.
The first time when Zarek told him about the memories, Bloodbane thought he was joking. It was only later that he realized that his grandson was not joking this time but was extremely honest.
Bloodbane couldn’t help but get worried that something might have gone wrong with Zarek’s awakening. It was only after he performed all sorts of tests and made sure nothing was wrong that he let go.
However, Bloodbane still wasn’t satisfied. He wanted to take Zarek to the best doctor of the continent. However, just then he remembered some words said by her that he had almost forgotten, which caused his expression to stiffen.
Bloodbane turned his gaze away from Zarek’s figure and sighed.
"Maybe this is for the good... Not just that, he is also finally showing interest in learning the Silversword family martial arts."
Thinking of the family arts, his grandson’s frightening rate at which he was learning the sword art sent unprecedented waves in his heart.
For the first time in how many years, a relaxed and carefree expression appeared on his face. This time it was not pretense but genuine.
"Maybe the Silversword family might have found its true successor."
Just then in the distance, Zarek took two steps in the clockwise direction in rapid succession, then suddenly one step to the left.
Suddenly, out of nowhere, the space some distance from him trembled followed by the appearance of a three-foot-long silver slash cleaving through the air.
Seeing this display of might, Bloodbane couldn’t stop himself from cheering, "Simply amazing!"
...
"Whew!"
Zarek also finally let out the chaotic breath that he was holding all this time and couldn’t help but look at his own hands in surprise.
To think he would be able to master the Silversword family’s prized technique so fast.
To not frighten his grandfather, he had only released a three-foot-tall slash. In reality, if he wanted, he could go all out and release a ten-foot slash.
With a smile on his face, Zarek walked forward.
"How was my performance just now, old man?" Zarek asked with a cheeky smile on his face.
"Excellent! But don’t get too cocky and try to compress more mana before you reach the second Chapter of the Silversword technique."
Zarek nodded, not daring to get too overconfident. In the first Chapter of the technique, he could only compress the mana four times, and the result was already this devastating.
He thought while gazing at the empty piece of land which looked as if something sharp had cut through it.
The next moment, he shook his head to focus on something important.
"Grandfather, what about the Goldfire Mine...?"
Zarek hadn’t forgotten why he had rushed all the way to the Silversword City without stopping. For his future plans, the acquisition of the Goldfire Mine was very crucial.
"Ohhh! Don’t worry about it. We have put the auction on hold. You can visit the mine anytime you want..."
Old man Bloodbane said without a change in his expression.
Hearing the words, Zarek let out a sigh of relief. The next moment, he immediately turned and started moving. "Old man, let’s train again next time. I got something important to do!"
"Wait...!" Old man Bloodbane yelled, but it was already too late. Zarek had already sprinted out of their usual training ground, heading to the flying carriage station.
Looking at Zarek’s disappearing figure, the old man just sighed. "Although some things had changed, he is still the same as before—always in a hurry."fg
