Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1072: Orders
When the group was back together, Isa immediately left to bring the reinforcements, and while they were resting, Rain wondered what he should do… it wasn't forever, so Rain could lend the armor and the shield to Sealyn for that battle. Even if something happens, Nigel could only do so much on a single day or perhaps a few days. Sealyn was strong-minded enough to handle him.
"We will need more than a little extra firepower for this job so that you can use the armor and the shield as well," Rain said.
"... Is it fine?" Sealyn asked while she hesitated in taking the relics. "This will affect the results of the mission, and you might end up not becoming the leader of another mission."
"Well, that is the last of my worries right now," Rain said. "Let's just focus on avoiding as many losses as possible."
"... Understood, I will make good use of it," Sealyn said.
Although everyone else was resting, Rain decided to work on some other things to help on the job. Using the power of the hammer, Rain forged some forearm guards for him. It had been so long since he had used them… and while he wasn't expecting to block many magic attacks, he didn't want to mess up his arms like he did in the previous mission. The pain stung quite a bit…
The forearm guards Rain equipped were a testament to both functionality and a touch of strategic creativity. Crafted with precision and attention to detail, they featured a sleek and streamlined design that complemented Rain's combat attire. The guards themselves were made of a durable yet lightweight material, offering a balance between protection and flexibility.
The carefully and almost concealed curved spikes adorning their surface set these forearm guards apart. The spikes were strategically positioned, designed not only to enhance the defensive capabilities of the guards but also to serve as offensive assets during close encounters with enemies.
When Rain faced attacks, these spikes could cause damage to any adversary foolish enough to underestimate the seemingly innocuous guards.
In the quiet moments of preparation, Rain entertained a certain thought – the idea of surprising his enemies by hiding the spikes and making them emerge unexpectedly during combat. It was a notion that appealed to his sense of strategy and amusement. However, Rain recognized the trade-off involved.
Concealing the spikes would undoubtedly catch opponents off guard, but the repeated emergence and retraction would eventually compromise the guards' durability.
"You should add some runes to take the money of the monsters that you will kill," Larisa said. "Even if you can't take all of it, some will be helpful."
"If it were that easy, I can only do that with domains, and I can't keep two of them," Rain said.
"You are a pretty bad teacher, huh, Vanessa?" Larisa asked. "This is the kind of thing that he needs the most, and you can't do a thing to help."
"He is bad at understanding women's words, explanations, and feelings, so it isn't my fault," Vanessa said.
"Everyone is, women are a fucking enigma," Rain said. "Anyway, this should be enough."
Larisa and Vanessa wondered how just a pair of forearm guards would be enough in that situation… even more so when Rain wasn't with Nigel's relics any more. They could only wait and see…
After resting for six hours, the group was informed that Isa reached them and that she was already on the way with the help of two hundred warriors… that made things a bit more even… now everyone of them had to kill at least fifteen monsters. As long as they are fast enough, it should be feasible.
"Your group should attack the enemy's base in four hours," Esmeralda declared. "Isa group should be close enough to help if something happens, but we want to use them to surprise the enemies. The best option will be if you manage to lure all of the enemies outside of that facility."
"With our numbers, we won't be able to lure them unless we cause a lot of damage on the first moment," Seara said.
"Yes, that is why we will have to rely on the fully geared Sealyn to do that for us," Esmeralda explained. "Use the relics to pull that off."
"Understood," Sealyn said.
Sealyn exuded a palpable confidence as she prepared for the impending job. The relics she wore granted her a surge of power, and the subtle influence of these artifacts seemed to affect not only her physical prowess but also her thoughts and actions.
The aura of authority that radiated from her was undeniable, and those who looked upon her couldn't help but feel the impact of the relics' empowering influence.
However, it wasn't just the relics that fueled Sealyn's demeanor; a spark of eagerness lit up her eyes. The prospect of engaging in battle, of causing some controlled mayhem for stress relief, played a part in shaping her confident stance. It was as if the impending clash offered a cathartic release, a chance to channel the accumulated tension and pressure into focused action.
Sealyn's confidence, bolstered by the relics and fueled by the anticipation of battle, set the tone for the group. As they prepared to face the monstrous horde, her assertiveness and readiness echoed through the ranks, creating an atmosphere of determination among the team.
After three hours, the group readied themselves for the confrontation… since Sealyn would start with a powerful bam, she decided that two people would guard her for a while after she used all of her mana. Much to Rain's surprise, she chose Danny and Annie… even though it would have been perfectly fine to have chosen Rain and Seara as well.
Perhaps she was being mindful since Rain had stayed a long time just watching things from a distance.
"Once I attack, the rest of you will form a line and advance to fight the remaining monsters and the others will come from the base," Sealyn declared.
