Infinite Paths: The Raging Phoenix-Chapter 1289: No other option
Chapter 1289: No other option
The first target was split in half, and both parts passed by Rain’s side before landing on the ground and making it shake. Rain couldn’t help but smirk since that had been pretty cool... but soon he saw the weapon of the targeting returning to normal... when Rain looked behind him, the parts of the tip were nowhere to be seen.
"Great..." Rain thought.
That was more than a little bit annoying... but Rain could understand why it happened. The whole structure of the monster, the armor, the shield, and the spear, were all connected by magic, so nothing of the creature could be truly destroyed until the creature was truly killed.
As Rain thought over the resilience of the mechanical knights, the enemies didn’t give him a moment of rest. A barrage of attacks descended upon him as if the adversaries were intent on wearing him down and exploiting any vulnerability. Spears rained down on him, adding to the complexity of the battlefield.
The onslaught was relentless, forcing Rain to weave through the attacks with a combination of swift movements and reflexes. The enemies seemed to be aware of the challenge Rain posed, and their coordinated assault aimed to exhaust and damage him before any direct confrontation.
Simultaneously, a group of explosion sounds reached Rain’s ears from behind the wall. It was evident that the others were having a hard time with their own adversaries, facing the relentless assault of the various enemy factions. The clashes of weapons, the resonating spells, and the occasional cries of pain painted a vivid picture of the intense struggle taking place beyond Rain’s immediate view.
"Just defending one side by myself isn’t enough to make things easier for them..." Rain thought.
After missing countless times, the enemies realized that keeping attack Rain like that was a waste of time, and they also realized that Rain would get closer sometimes and steal their mana with Glutonous Aura as well... they had to deal with him before they ran out of energy.
With that in mind, the enemies soon began to move, dismantle their line, and start a circular formation around him. If you can’t hit him from a distance, hitting from a distance while surrounding him might work.
"Wait, I just have to keep changing paths and the ones that will be easier to feel will confirm which sin they will be using," Rain thought.
Rain changed his paths while he jumped from one side to the other and blocked some attacks as well. Soon, he charged toward one of the enemies when he felt that their auras had become stronger after he equipped the humility path... However, something felt off, as if it wasn’t the same intense feeling he had when he had done the same thing as before with the shadow giant spider.
When Rain tried to escape the encirclement by attacking one of the mechanical knights, he soon confirmed the reason for it... As Rain closed in on one of the enemies, the once radiant blue energy within their form began to twist and darken, transforming into a sinister shade of dark blue. The eerie transformation extended to the spear they wielded, enveloping the weapon in the same ominous aura. It was a visual manifestation of the corruption in the path they had chosen.
The enemy launched a direct attack with the corrupted spear, aiming for Rain with a ferocity that made the air around them tremble. The impact of the strike, even as Rain hastily raised his defenses, was nothing short of overwhelming. The force behind the attack was tremendous, causing the area to quake with the sheer power unleashed.
Rain managed to block the strike with his defenses, but the sheer might of the blow was enough to shatter his defenses and breakthrough. The impact reverberated through his body, and despite his swift reaction, the force of the attack was too much to bear. The sheer power of the blow resulted in his elbow breaking under the immense pressure.
"Wrath?" Rain thought after he grunted in pain. "I guess I can combine two paths, and they can too... in any case, the enemy can use the ruthless path."
That was a problem. While Rain could use the ruthless path, he couldn’t use two virtues at the same time to counter the ruthless path against the enemies. He couldn’t weaken them the same way he did with the giant shadow spider...
Rain used Full Heal to fix the bone, but the pain decreased quite a lot, but soon he was bombarded by numerous tips of the spears once again. In the end, Rain canceled the Doppelgangers since they weren’t being useful even as a diversion.
Rain maintained his strategy of swiftly moving between paths, stealing mana from the enemies, and dodging their attacks to accumulate the effects of A Matter of Skill. The stolen mana not only weakened the enemies but also enhanced Rain’s own abilities, providing a temporary advantage. However, as the enemies closed in, their attacks started to graze Rain, disrupting the effects granted by A Matter of Skill.
The scratches and minor injuries from the enemies’ strikes dispersed the accumulated bonuses, diminishing the effectiveness of Rain’s strategy. The foes, adapting to his movements, pressed on with their relentless assault, aiming to break through his defenses and exploit any opening in his maneuvers. The challenge escalated as Rain found himself fending off not only the direct attacks but also the constant pressure applied by the surrounding enemies.
Rain changed the path one more time and then summoned two mana swords in his hands after putting the ominous sword in his mouth. Before long, all of them became a lot darker...
"How many times do I have to say this?" Elisabetha asked.
Rain ignored Elisabetha’s words because he was counting on her anger... in the next moment, all of the swords were covered by the dark ice, and then when the tips of the spears hit him, they were completely stopped by the swords...
