The extent of this devastation was alarming. The evidence of a catastrophic event that had caused such a massive explosion on the lunar surface was both perplexing and mindblowing. The magnitude of the destruction hinted at an event of colossal proportions, one that could have occurred roughly fifty thousand years ago.

Rain’s discoveries were nothing short of astonishing. The sheer scale of the lunar devastation hinted at a cataclysmic event that left an indelible mark on the moon’s history. The fact that such a significant portion of the moon had been obliterated raised numerous questions about what could have caused such an event and what implications it might have had for the universe at large.

"The pieces were starting to fall into place…" Rain thought.

There were still a lot of pieces missing, and more seemed to be hidden, but Rain was starting to understand what truly had happened fifty thousand years ago. In the end, Rain decided to do some more research.

As Rain went deeper into the mysteries surrounding the catastrophic event that had changed the solar system, his thoughts led him to a disturbing hypothesis: the possibility of an extraterrestrial threat or influence that had impacted Earth and potentially the entire solar system.

The sheer scale of the devastation hinted at an external force that transcended natural phenomena. Rain couldn’t dismiss the notion that something, perhaps a menacing entity or an unknown organism from space, might have triggered this cataclysmic event that altered the moon’s landscape and affected Earth.

This hypothesis raised unsettling questions about the nature of this cosmic threat. Was it an advanced alien civilization wielding powerful technology or an enigmatic entity capable of influencing celestial bodies and life itself? Rain couldn’t be certain, but the implications were troublesome.

Driven by his relentless curiosity, Rain turned his focus to the solar system, using his advanced telescope to search the celestial bodies. His goal was to gather information and verify his suspicions about the potential threats in space.

As he scanned the solar system, Rain’s observations brought an alarming revelation: Mars, the fourth planet from the sun and Earth’s neighboring planet, was nowhere to be found. His lack of knowledge in celestial mechanics didn’t prevent him from recognizing a glaring absence.

The absence of Mars was suspicious and startling, indicating that the planet was no longer within the solar system… perhaps it had been destroyed as well.

Rain’s deduction, though not based on astrophysical expertise, carried a high degree of certainty. The sudden disappearance of Mars, a massive celestial body, couldn’t be ignored. His understanding of celestial dynamics might have been limited, but the absence of Mars was a significant anomaly that raised further concerns about the scale and nature of the cosmic threat.

"Oh man… why can’t I just deal with the demon king like all the other fantasy stories?" Rain thought and then sighed. "This had to become like depressing fantasy XVI?"

Rain decided to head to Earth and collect his thoughts a bit… he landed where the capital was supposed to be, particularly where his old home was supposed to be, and then sat down, trying to wrap out his head around all that insanity… still, that was a bit too hard.

To make things worse, those two began to bother him in his mental landscape… as usual, Rain returned with a dropkick in Nigel’s face, which he had just received while he was getting up.

"I was the one who was calling you," Larisa said. "I could tell that you learned some things in the last few hours, and I want to ask about them."

"How you can tell?" Rain furrowed his eyebrows. "You can’t read my mind while you are here."

"This is your mental landscape, it reflects your heart and mind," Larisa explained. "When you feel fear, it trembles. When you get sad, it becomes humid, like it is about to rain. We just noticed that you felt overwhelmed by something."

"There is no point in talking with you about that, considering your limited memories," Rain shrugged. "You won’t offer any decent insight." Your journey continues at novelbuddy

"The reason for that is your lack of desire to cooperate, so this is a problem that you created," Larisa said. "I understand that you are wary of us, but you should know that your growth probably will surpass ours, so we won’t be able to escape, even if we wanted, as long as your power is higher."

Larisa’s insistence on cooperation and her understanding of Rain’s hesitation struck a chord within him. Deep down, Rain acknowledged that her points held some true. There was a rational aspect to her argument that he couldn’t completely dismiss. However, his caution came from a profound fear—one that drove his hesitation and wariness.

The dragon god’s previous defeat at the hands of Rain had instilled a sense of caution and a realization that this powerful enemy wouldn’t make the same mistakes again. This awareness compelled Rain to be extra vigilant and wary of potential threats, especially entities connected to the dragon god’s realm. Losing again was not an option.

Despite this wariness, Rain realized that perhaps there was merit in exploring a middle ground. He considered a new plan—an experiment that could potentially aid Larisa in regaining some of her lost memories and strength. If successful, it could potentially shift the power dynamic in his favor.

If things took a turn for the worse, he would only have to fight with one of them instead of both Larisa and Nigel.

"I don’t like the look in your eye. What happened to gender equality?" Nigel asked.

"Oh, shield… if only gender equality could solve interdimensional conflicts and cosmic calamities! If it did, I’d be the first to sign up for that peace treaty." Rain said while shrugging. "But you see, this isn’t about gender equality—it’s about maintaining a strategic advantage. However, if you’ve got any brilliant gender-equality strategies to ward off impending cosmic threats, I’m all ears!"

Rain’s response made Nigel rub his eyes and sigh…
