Chapter 109: Title: Berserker!

"Explode."

In that exact moment, Vogue’s own body detonated. His entire body exploded with the force of a massive bomb

But that wasn’t all. All five of his clones exploded simultaneously as well, each one had a meters away from the various devil incarnations.

Seven explosions detonated at the same instant, creating a catastrophic chain reaction of destructive force.

"KABOOM! KABOOM! KABOOM! KABOOM! KABOOM! KABOOM! KABOOM!"

The combined blasts created a crimson fireball that rose over a hundred meters into the air, visible from miles away. The shockwave flattened every building within three blocks. The ground itself cracked open, creating massive fissures that spread like spiderwebs.

When the flames finally cleared and the smoke began to drift away, there was nothing left of Xander except ash and scattered golden particles that slowly dissolved into nothing.

The Divine Son hadn’t even been able to activate any life-saving methods or protective treasures. The explosion had simply been too sudden, too close, and too overwhelming. His seven devil incarnations had all been destroyed simultaneously, and with them, his consciousness had been scattered beyond recovery.

The truth was that Xander had been too proud. He had told his family elders that he was the Divine Son, destined for greatness, too special to need common protective items. He had refused to carry any life-saving treasures or emergency escape talismans, believing that such things were beneath someone of his status.

Who could have known that his pride would become the direct cause of his death?

The Divine Son of the continent, the golden child of the Grimm family, the boy whose birth had caused golden rain to fall for seven days, had been killed by someone he had looked down on as trash from a backwater city.

The remaining players who had been watching from two hundred meters away stood in complete shocked silence, unable to process what they had just witnessed.

In a building far away from the battlefield, roughly five blocks east of where the devastating explosion had occurred, someone who had been sleeping peacefully on the rooftop suddenly jerked awake violently and gasped for air.

The person’s eyes snapped open, revealing bright crimson irises that glowed faintly in the darkness. The hair was also crimson red, messy and wild from sleep. This person sat up quickly, chest heaving with harsh breaths as though waking from a terrible nightmare.

The person was Vogue. Or rather, it was one of Vogue’s clones.

He gasped and clutched at his chest as memories and sensations flooded into his mind through the clone connection. He experienced the echo of his main body’s death—the decision to explode, the brief moment of pain as his body detonated, the sensation of consciousness transferring to this backup clone.

Before everything had started going wrong with Xander’s arrival, Vogue had been smart enough to create one extra clone and send it to a safe location far from the fighting. He had ordered this clone to find a secure hiding spot and sleep until needed, keeping it as insurance in case something went catastrophically wrong.

That precaution had just saved his life.

Now that he had killed Xander by using a suicide explosion technique—a self-inflicted victory achieved through mutual destruction—nobody would be actively hunting for him anymore. The other players would assume he had died in that massive blast alongside the Divine Son.

Without Xander to coordinate them and with their promised rewards gone up in smoke, the remaining players would abandon the hunt. They would refocus on their own survival, on killing radiants to complete their evolutions, and on eliminating each other to be the last one standing when the trial ended.

Vogue could operate freely now without a target on his back.

He didn’t waste any time. He quickly created six more clones by severing fingers, giving himself a full team to work with. Then he immediately left the rooftop and headed outside to continue his hunt for radiants.

Speed was essential now. The quicker he could reach ten thousand kills, the better his chances.

Vogue was also painfully aware that Xander had successfully killed two other Ultimate Evolution candidates before coming after him. He had bragged about it through that woman who had stabbed him in the heart. That meant Vogue wasn’t the only person still attempting Ultimate Evolution anymore.

There were still two others out there somewhere in the city, also racing toward that ten thousand kill requirement. And according to the trial rules, only one person could actually achieve Ultimate Evolution. There was only one slot available.

That meant this had become a race. Whoever reached ten thousand kills first would claim the prize and lock everyone else out of that tier permanently. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

Vogue needed to be faster than the competition. He needed to be first.

After searching for about twenty minutes, moving quickly through destroyed streets and checking multiple buildings, Vogue finally found what he was looking for. He was incredibly lucky to discover this location.

It was an old subway station entrance that had partially collapsed during the chaos. The stairs leading down were still accessible, and from the sounds echoing up from below, the underground tunnels were absolutely filled with radiants. They had probably fled down there to escape the sunlight and gotten trapped when parts of the tunnel system collapsed.

Hundreds, maybe thousands of them were packed into the darkness below.

It was perfect.

Vogue and his six clones descended into the subway system and began their systematic slaughter.

He killed and killed and killed without stopping. His blade rose and fell in steady rhythm. Ice Rain decimated packed groups. Shadow Step let him move through the tunnels faster than the radiants could react. His clones worked alongside him, creating a coordinated killing machine that swept through the underground like a plague.

The cramped tunnels actually worked to his advantage. The radiants couldn’t surround him effectively in the narrow spaces, and they got in each other’s way when trying to attack. Meanwhile, his techniques worked perfectly in close quarters.

He fought continuously for more than half a day as the four suns slowly moved across the sky above ground and eventually began to set.
