Chapter 78 – Mind Dive

"Buddy... want me to pull out this shining spear from your chest?" Ethan asked with a soft smile.

But no response came.

He hadn’t expected one anyway. The system already told him that this big guy couldn’t interact with the outside world. Meaning the only way to talk to him... was by either linking their minds or...

...or directly invading the mind of an Archdemon.

A stage-3 god at least.

And all that as a D-rank mortal.

Ethan tilted his head slightly as mumbled under his breath, "But entering the mind of a god-level Archdemon... as I am now?"

That was something no sane being would even consider let alone attempt.

But Ethan ?

Ethan wasn’t sane.

He turned to Airi, who was eyeing him with pure apprehension.

"Are you going to do something crazy again?" she asked, her voice almost trembling.

Being with Ethan was truly an exhausting thing to do. The man never stopped doing reckless shit. He could handle it right. But her? She wasn’t used to this pace—not even close.

She was still new to all this after all.

Ethan gave her a wry smile.

"Why’re you acting like I’m about to commit a crime? I’m just trying to help our little friend here."

He gestured at the Archdemon.

"And aren’t you the one who should understand him? I mean, you have been imprisoned alone for who knows how long. Tsk. No empathy."

His voice was mockingly gentle—teasing her like she was the heartless one.

Airi’s lips twitched in slight irritation.

"Oh? Then tell me, my dear god... how exactly are you planning to help him, hmm?" she asked, voice sharp, smile even sharper.

"What else?" Ethan said, shrugging nonchalantly. "I’ll just peek inside his mind and have a little chat. The mind of an Archdemon should be a lovely place to snack on some demonic meat I bought ages ago."

Deadpan.

That was Airi’s only expression.

Seeing it, Ethan sighed and switched to a more serious tone.

"Relax. Nothing’s gonna happen to me... probably."

"I’ll just drop in. Talk with him. Maybe make a new friend, who knows?"

"Let me tell you my dear Saintess, making connections with people will help you go far in life." Ethan said in a half serious half sarcastic tone.

"And if something does happen?" Airi pressed, voice firm. "What then? What can I do? How would I even save you?"

Because this wasn’t just any god he wanted to toy with—it was an Archdemon who embodied a Sin.

In Airi’s eyes, Ethan was walking headfirst into suicidal territory.

But Ethan didn’t see it that way.

To him, there was barely any risk. After all, no one here truly understood the nature of his system except him. No matter how often he introduced himself as the Allholder, people still didn’t grasp what it truly meant—to own everything, and to be able obtain anything.

Because such a concept was unfathomable for them and so they wouldn’t even try to understand it.

And that was fine.

’They’ll understand soon enough,’ Ethan thought. ’Once they walk with me long enough, they’ll know.’

Without another word, he reached into his inventory and tossed something at Airi.

A small artifact.

"A Stage-3 god grade emergency ejection charm," Ethan explained. "It’ll forcefully pull my consciousness out of the Archdemon’s mind if anything goes wrong."

His smile was light, reassuring.

Then, without waiting for her reply, he placed a hand on the Archdemon’s head and activated a second artifact:

Mind Invasion – Stage-4 God Grade

Immediately, his body went limp.

Before he could collapse, Airi appeared beside him and caught him gently.

She sighed heavily, looking down at his sleeping face, fully aware that he was now inside the Archdemon’s mind.

With a flick of her wrist, she summoned a small, ornate bed made from crackling blue lightning. She laid Ethan down carefully, then sat beside him clutching the artifact like her life depended on it.

"You better come back safe... and without a scratch," she murmured.

Because if not—

Airi’s gaze turned glacial. Cold. Apathetic. Like everything around her was suddenly meaningless.

She looked up at the throne—and at the Archdemon.

"If he’s harmed... even if I have to sacrifice my soul, I will obliterate this entire core zone along with you."

All of it...just for a single scratch on Ethan.

What a lovely and overbearing woman.

...

Meanwhile, Ethan appeared in a realm completely different from what he’d expected.

He’d anticipated darkness, gore, maybe rivers of blood flowing down on mountains of corpses or even the grotesque horrors.

Instead...

One massive bed lay in the center of a regal black stone chamber. A proud, ornate demonic throne stood beside it, black flames licking gently around its base. The walls were covered in images—paintings and depictions of the Archdemon in all forms of glory and dominance.

The place was clean. Immaculate. Stable.

Almost... dignified.

As Ethan scanned the room, a voice reached him—lazy and low, tinged with amusement.

"You really dared to enter..."

Ethan turned, eyes narrowing in focus.

There, on the bed, lay the Archdemon—just as he’d appeared before, horns and all, watching him with deep, blood-red eyes.

"Hi," Ethan said with casual cheer. "I’m Ethan Yagami. Sorry for the intrusion but I really wanted to ask you something important."

The Archdemon blinked slowly.

"I’ve never seen such a puny mortal be so bold," he said with a yawn. "What was your name again?"

Ethan’s lips twitched.

"Ethan Yagami."

"And you came here for... what?" the Archdemon asked again, now closing his eyes as if he couldn’t be bothered to keep them open.

"I wanted to ask you a question," Ethan said, patient.

A moment passed.

"And that question is?"

Ethan’s smile then brightened with confidence.

"Do you want me to pull out that golden spear?"

At his words,

The Archdemon’s eyes snapped open.

They locked onto Ethan, glowing with sudden intensity.

Then, in a low, rumbling voice filled with dark seriousness—

"...Hell. Fucking. No."
