Chapter 20 - Fired? No Worries!

Jayden ended up receiving 21 million dollars that night, with his Charm increasing greatly by 15. He didn't know why the title effect didn't affect the other attributes, but he dared not complain after this great progress.

The title itself was awkward, and Jayden couldn't help but question the system.

However...

> [The title acts on honest actions and occasions, host. It's clear you are a Nurse Bender and Deceiver.]

"You asked me to seduce her!" Jayden barked.

> [Yeah, I did. For your own good.]

Nurse Temi had unwillingly slept off for many hours, as she was completely knocked out. Thus, she had to pass the night in Jayden's house, since he wouldn't attempt waking her up.

...

The next day...

Jayden's eyes fluttered open to the warm rays of morning light slipping through the half-open blinds. He stretched slightly, feeling the dull ache in his limbs—a reminder of the wild night before. A glance to his side, and he reached out to touch her...

Temi jerked upright at once.

"Oh my God!"

Jayden blinked, startled. "Temi?"

She stared around the room in pure panic. "I... I'm still here?! I slept here?!"

Jayden tried to sit up. "Yeah, you knocked out after..."

"I'm late! I'm late!" she jumped out of bed, grabbing her wrinkled dress off the floor.

"No-no-no... I was supposed to be on night shift. My boss is going to kill me!"

Jayden rubbed his temple. "Relax. Just call in and..."

"I can't!" Temi cut in, pulling her clothes over her head as fast as possible. "He'll be there by now. He checks the log-in system first thing in the morning."

"Temi, at least slow down and..." Jayden tried to talk her out of the haste...

But she wasn't listening. She slipped on one leg of her pants, stumbled slightly, then gave up on shoes entirely and grabbed them in one hand.

"I'll call you later!" she shouted over her shoulder and sprinted out the door barefoot.

Jayden stood there for a moment, dazed by the whirlwind.

"She really left barefoot?"

Chuckling to himself, he stood and began dressing. He had barely buttoned his shirt when a ding echoed from his phone on the bedside table.

{Notification: VIREX.}

{VIREX COIN has surged! Current value: $11 per coin.}

Jayden stared, lips parting. "$11? That's quite a huge boost within a week," he smiled.

He had to believe that VIREX Coin was not like the others that ended up getting people screwed.

Again, the system had proved that it could be fully trusted and relied on.

> [System: Stay calm, Host. You shouldn't think about selling any of them. This is just the beginning of the rise.]

Jayden smirked. "You always know how to drop a surprise when I least expect it."

...

Meanwhile, across Sky High campus, Temi stormed through the hospital's side entrance, slipping her heels on as she moved. Her hair was a mess, and she hadn't even changed into her uniform. She had no time for the curious glances her colleagues shot her way.

She arrived at the infirmary door just as her supervisor, Matron Bernard, was logging out of the night reports.

"Temi Grace."

Temi froze.

Bernard's cold eyes lifted from the clipboard, brows furrowed. "Did you even think to call in?"

"I... I had an emergency. My phone died..."

"Your shift started at 8 PM. It's almost 9 AM. Do you think this is a joke?" Bernard asked sharply.

Temi straightened. "I swear it wasn't intentional..."

"I checked the logs. You weren't here. And no call. That's negligence. You abandoned your post," Bernard's frown deepened.

"I just..." she fumbled. "I'm really sorry. Please, let me explain..."

Temi's look transformed from nervous to wary at that instant, as her arms jerked—a clear sign of fear at its peak.

"No need." Bernard clipped his pen onto the clipboard and turned fully to her. "You're fired. Effective immediately."

Temi's breath hitched.

"Wait—what? Just like that?"

"Just like that." The man's tone was sharp as steel. "Turn in your badge and uniform. You are urged to leave quickly or the security will escort you out."

Temi stood frozen for a second, blinking in disbelief. The world spun around her, and her limbs felt weak.

It wasn't until she found herself seated on a bench outside the building, her badge in a sealed envelope, that reality slapped her fully. She reached for her phone with trembling fingers and dialed.

"Jayden?" Her voice was tight.

"Hey, Temi. Everything okay?"

"No," she snapped. "You... You distracted me! Now I've lost my job! What am I supposed to do?! I—I've got bills! My rent! My sister's school fees—"

Jayden was quiet for a second.

"Temi."

"What?!" she barked.

"Send me your account number."

"What?"

"Just send it."

Still fuming and confused, she hesitated for a moment and decided to type it in and sent it. She barely had time to ask why before her phone vibrated with a ping.

{Credit Alert: $1,000,000.00. From: Jayden Cole}

She gasped as her eyes widened.

"Jayden...? This is a mistake, right?"

"Nope," he said casually. "Consider it a thank you for last night and a backup plan for today."

"But this is... I mean... Why would you—?"

It almost felt like she was dreaming.

"Temi, I told you. I've got your back. You don't owe me anything."

Her chest tightened. The anger she'd been holding onto cracked, leaking out as her eyes stung.

"You didn't have to..." she said, her voice breaking.

"But I did. And I meant it."

She went quiet again. This time, her silence was filled with more than just shock. Gratitude. Awe. Maybe even... something deeper.

"I don't know what to say."

"You don't have to say anything," Jayden replied softly. "Just breathe. I'll handle the rest."

For a long time, she just sat there, phone still pressed to her ear even after the call ended. Somewhere inside her, a wall she'd built long ago began to crumble.

...

On the other hand...

[Harem member Nurse Temi Grace has an update on the Affection bar.]

[Affection: 84%]

[You've gained +3 Influence and +2 Charisma.]

Jayden saw the update flash across his vision... It was another great improvement in her affection bar, and it seemed like Temi was the only one with a high knack for the harem feature.

And to Jayden, it wasn't a problem at all.

"She was so sweet," he muttered to himself as he bounced back on the bed with a soft yet sincere laugh.

Just then, his phone rang again, and it was something he had almost forgotten about.

"Don't tell me you forgot about our date. I called to remind you on purpose, Mr. Dangerous," Camilla said on the other end, causing a smile to stretch across Jayden's face.

"I didn't, princess. I'll paste the address in a text right away," Jayden said.

"Good to hear... See you, Jayden," Camilla said and ended the call.

"Phew..." Jayden heaved a sigh.

It was a Saturday, and he had almost forgotten, if he was being honest... Thankfully, Camilla had notified him.

She had just saved him from disappointing her for the second time.
