Information to Mastery: Points Store System-Chapter 234: Forced Marriage?
Michael did not have much of a reaction to the guy’s words. Instead, he just turned off the car’s engine, before he opened the car’s door and stepped out.
Seeing Michael cooperating, the guy who was pointing the gun at him, did not act aggressively. Instead, he pointed towards the lady and said, "Go and stand next to her."
Just like before, Michael cooperated, going to stand next to the lady.
It was when he stood next to her that he looked at her. The lady was gazing at him, the fear in her amber eyes clear.
She wore a light knit sweater in soft beige, the fabric resting gently over her frame and tapering at her waist. A pair of dark fitted jeans followed the natural curve of her hips and thighs without clinging, balanced by simple ankle boots in matte leather.
A thin coat draped over her shoulders, its clean cut complementing her straight posture. The outfit outlined her slim figure and subtle curves.
As he looked at her, for a moment, Michael felt that she looked familiar. He was not sure where he had seen her before, but he was pretty sure that his memory could not lie.
Even though he had began remembering a lot of things that had happened long ago, he could not remember everything clearly.
The identity of this lady was one of the things that he could not remember, and neither did he remember where they had interacted before.
And as he was gazing at her, the lady also scrutinized him. And as she looked at him, she also felt a sense of familiarity, though she was not sure where she had met Michael before.
But there was something that caught her attention. That was the fact that, despite having several guns pointed at him, Michael did not seem intimidated in the slightest.
There was indifferent expression on his face, though there was a subtle fluctuation of his expression when he looked at her. Though, the lady assumed that it was the surprise that he had at her appearance.
While Michael was still trying to remember where he had seen this lady before, one of the men, seemingly the leader of the group, suddenly spoke up.
While gazing at the lady, completely ignoring Michael, the man said, "We would like you to cooperate. If you don’t, the consequences will be the same as those two fools down there.
If they had not tried to resist, there would be no need for them to die. After all, they were just hired to work for your family, unfortunately, it seems that the little salary that they receive was enough to be able to buy their lives."
The lady also came back to her senses as she glared at the person who had spoken. These two, who were currently lying dead on the ground, she was very familiar with them.
They were the bodyguards that had been assigned to her by her father 6 years ago. So, they had interacted, and were quite familiar with each other.
Unfortunately, today, they ended up dying, all because of her. Despite the fear that she was having, she felt immense grief, as she understood that she was the cause of their deaths.
When the man saw that the lady was simply glaring back at him without speaking, he did not seem angered at all.
Instead, he seemed to relax slightly. Then, he said, "So, are you going to agree to the marriage, or do you want to be taken as a hostage? Any of them can work, as long as it serves the purpose."
The lady seemed to get even more angry when she heard those words. She had actually run away from home, because she was being forced to get married.
She was not being forced by her family, instead, it was another family. They were her family’s rivals, yet they pretended that they wanted to form a collaboration with them through marriage.
She was the heiress of the family, and the only child of the current generation. That implied that, if she ended up being married, all the family wealth will be taken over by those bastards.
For that reason, she thought, as long as she could escape from home for a while, the issue regarding marriage would be forgotten. Additionally, her parents would be able to deal with most of the pressure for the time being, as long as she was not in the way.
Unfortunately, despite running this far, coming all the way to the eastern province, these guys had still managed to find her.
She had been staying in Brenton city for 3 days now. And today, at the hotel, one of her bodyguards realized that something wasn’t right.
So, they decided to leave, and only after they had left the hotel they realized that they were being trailed.
Then, with one of the car tires being shot, they had no other choice but to stop the car. The two bodyguards tried to defend her, but they ended up being killed.
The lady had many reasons to get angry, including the fact that the person that they were intending to marry her off to was a jerk.
No matter the situation, everything was unfavorable. Not to mention that those guys were just eyeing her family’s wealth, even the person himself was detestable.
"Oh, no response? So, I assume that I should help you make the decision?" Seeing that the lady did not respond in quite a while, the man seemed to be getting impatient.
The lady felt tremendous pressure, as there was actually no choice here. At least, among the options provided, neither of them was what she wanted.
Just as she was thinking of what to do, the person beside her suddenly spoke, leaving her speechless with his words.
"Excuse me, but may I know why I’m standing here? I still need to go around, to relax my mind a bit. So, can I leave? It seems that I don’t have anything to do here, right?" Michael asked as he looked directly at the leader of the group.
His words were met with silence, as everyone looked at him as though they were looking at an idiot. Did he not see that they had guns? Did he not see that there were guns that were pointed at him?
Was this really the time for him to say something as stupid as this? He was supposed to be begging for mercy, to be allowed to leave, right? Why was it that it was as though he was claiming that they were wasting his time?
Various thoughts appeared in the minds of the people around, before the one closest to Michael suddenly berated, "Kid, shut the f*ck up! If you don’t, I will just blow your brains out!"
Michael was obviously not intimidated by the threat, even though the pistol’s muzzle was already touching the side of his head.
Instead, he looked at the leader and continued speaking, "Don’t tell me, you are planning on revealing a lot of secrets, then later on, you will say that you cannot let me go because I know too much?
Let me remind you, I was just driving, then you asked me to come over. I didn’t even know what was happening here, so, don’t claim that I was being nosy."
The lady who was standing next to Michael could not help but wonder, did this guy perhaps have a screw loose in his head? How could he speak so confidently, saying such words to those that were holding an advantage over him?
Was he not afraid that he would be killed? After all, at the moment, the two dead bodies on the ground should already tell him that this group of people was ruthless, right?
Seemingly unaware of the gazes that he was receiving, when Michael saw that nobody was responding, he simply shrugged and said, "Since you guys don’t have anything to say, then I will be leaving. I don’t have the time to continue wasting here."
Even though Michael was kind of curious of where he had seen this lady before, he had no any intention of getting himself involved in the conflict.
From the way that they were speaking, it was clear that this was an issue related to a big family. And, in the information that Michael had on the powers within Brenton city, he could not remember this lady being listed as one of those young ladies from the big families within this city.
So, most probably, they came from another province, especially judging by the guns that they were having. Those guns, they were of a higher grade as compared to those that could be found by some small gangsters.
Hence, after speaking, Michael turned around, intending to leave.
But he had only taken a single step when one of the gangsters seemed to be angered, as he suddenly attacked.
The guy tried to punch Michael on the side of his face, only to end up missing as Michael suddenly stopped, and leaned backwards slightly.
Since the guy was using his full strength to launch the punch, he ended up stumbling forward after missing the target.
Michael did not counter, instead, he gazed at the guy, his eyes turning cold. He said, "I have already told you, I have no intention of wasting time with you. So, you better understand what I mean, or I will make you understand."
But he had only said those words when suddenly, the guy who had missed, gazed at him with fury in his eyes. There was a hint of embarrassment on his face, as he suddenly raised the gun’s muzzle, pointing it at Michael, then pulled the trigger without uttering a word.
