Information to Mastery: Points Store System-Chapter 282: Collaboration?
And as expected, the doorbell rang.
Bob and Gregory had felt that their lives were going to end here. They were initially here to take Michael out of this country, to make sure that he settled outside and never came back.
But the moment that Gregory decided to strike Michael with the intention to kill, things changed completely. So, it would not be much of a surprise if Michael decided to kill them.
But now, it seemed that there was someone who had come over. This granted them the hope of survival.
With another person’s appearance, it was clear that Michael would have to consider the situation. As long as this person was not in cahoots with Michael, they definitely had high chances of escaping alive.
And thinking about the current situation, Bob would not help but glare at Gregory who was lying on the ground. The guy was injured to the extent that it was already a problem for him to be able to prop himself up.
Bob was obviously blaming this guy. If he had not decided to kill Michael, would all of this had happened? Additionally, if he had gone all out from the start, maybe they would have knocked out Michael, and rushed out of the villa before that guy wearing the mask appeared.
By that time, they would have completed the task that they had been assigned, and the risks involved would have been minimal.
Unfortunately, there were no ’ifs’ anymore. With the current circumstances, they could only hope for the best.
Gregory on the other hand did not have much of a regret. Before today, even before he was diagnosed to have late stage lung cancer, he had not been a good person.
If not for the illness that later made him relax a bit, he would have definitely become a core member of silent order syndicate by now.
It was due to his contributions back then that he was given this chance, when it appeared. Otherwise, even if he wanted to take the risk of taking the mutation serum, he might not be given that chance.
The risk was great, but the benefits were greater. As long as one could survive taking the mutation serum, they would be able to change their status completely.
So, to him, having already survived in the other world for several years now, he understood clearly. Since he had already made a move, there was no going back, and neither were there any needs for regrets.
At the end of the day, no matter how much he regretted it, it was not as though he could change anything. If he was bound to die today, then so be it. He would just count it as his unlucky day.
So, despite hearing the sound of the doorbell, he did not react that much. But it would be a lie to say that he did not have a glimpse of hope, hoping that this might be a chance for him to be able to get out of here.
Who in this world did not want to live? No matter how fearless a person is, if there is no need to die, or there was a chance of survival, who would want to die?
Michael did not move, and the clone that was wearing a mask behind him moved. With incredible speed, it was able to get to the door, before opening it.
With the door opening, it exposed a figure that was standing outside.
Judging from the figure, it seemed to be a man. His frame was lean, with wide shoulders. His arms were long and toned, veins faint under the skin.
He had short dark hair, rough at the tips. A black half-mask hid the lower part of his face, from the bridge of his nose down to his jaw.
He wore a long black coat that fell to his calves. The coat was slim at the waist but wide at the hem, so it swayed slightly in the wind.
Under it, a dark shirt clung to his chest, and fitted pants traced the strong lines of his legs. Heavy boots rose to his shins.
This man, the moment that he saw the door opening, he did not have much of a reaction at first. But when he saw who was behind the door, he seemed to be surprised.
Even though his reaction was quite controlled, with the human insight skill at the expert level, it was quite easy for Michael to be able to see the surprise in those exposed eyes.
Most probably, this guy had not expected that the person who was going to open the door was going to be masked as well.
Regardless, he did not waste much time and said, "I’m here to visit Mr. Santos. I wonder if he is around?"
His voice was thick, and it had a mechanical edge. It was as though his voice was modified, no longer sounding human.
"Come in." The clone said while moving aside, to allow the masked guy to enter.
The guy did not say anything, as he just nodded and entered into the villa. The clone on the other hand closed the door, before following back to the living room.
The newcomer had just entered the living room when suddenly, he realized that something was off.
As he gazed at the two people that were currently on the ground, surprise emerged in his eyes. And this time, the surprise was much bigger than before.
He could recognize these two people, one of them being the right hand man of the second in command of Silent order syndicate. As for the other one, he was one of the mutants of the silent order syndicate.
While the public might not know about these mutants, that did not imply that the other forces did not know. Within each force, there were inevitably many spies. So, some things could not be hidden, no matter how much the other party tried to.
As for the existence of the mutants within the two giant syndicates, this was something that even the government knew about. But, they were just turning a blind eye to that.
Of course, if the two organizations began acting arrogantly, and ignored the rules that had been set by the government on the regulation of the mutants, the government would definitely take action.
And at that time, the two syndicates would definitely incur huge losses, if not being completely wiped out.
But what shocked this newcomer was that, judging from the fact that these two people were currently on the floor, with Gregory continuously groaning from the pain, it was clear that they had been attacked.
This immediately gave him the information that he did not initially have, that was, there was a mutant here. And the level of this mutant wasn’t low either.
So, immediately, he made adjustments on how he was going to handle this issue. It seemed that he would have to change the intention of coming over.
At the same time, in his mind, he made sure to remember one thing. As soon as he got out of here, he would definitely pay a visit to someone.
As he made up his mind, he finally gazed at the young man that was currently observing him.
The appearance matched exactly with the person that he was looking for. Short dark brown hair and blue eyes, an above average appearance, and a medium body build.
From estimation, just judging by his sitting posture, he estimated that in terms of height, he should be around 183 to 185 cm tall.
These details, they just flashed through the mind of the newcomer. But what attracted his attention was that, just by gazing at this young man, he felt danger.
This was an instinct feeling, something special that he had since ages ago, when he was still young. It was exactly this sixth sense that allowed him to be able to escape danger on numerous occasions.
And now, looking at this young man, he felt tremendous threat from him. It was as though, if he tried anything, he would die on the spot.
But what shook him the most was that, it was not just this young man that he felt the threat coming from. Instead, the masked man who was currently standing behind Michael, he also gave him a sense of threat.
Currently, it was almost impossible for this newcomer to be able to exactly tell the difference between the threats offered by the two. But no matter what, he understood, this time, things were getting out of hand.
Despite the many questions that he had, and all the confusions in his mind, he still had to speak. So, he cleared his throat and said, "Pardon me for my intrusion. Actually, the reason why I came here is because I wanted to ask if we could collaborate. I don’t know if you’re interested?"
Michael raised his brows slightly as he listened to those words. Still, he responded, "Sincerity is the most important thing in a collaboration. You come to my house, dressed like that, hiding your appearance, yet you are selling me that you are here for a collaboration? Do you think I will believe you?"
The man was silent for a moment, before he went ahead and removed the mask that was covering his face.
With the mask out of the way, the face that was revealed was that of a middle-aged man. But apart from that, there was quite a huge scar that ran across his face, from the left eyebrow, all the way to the right side of the chin, even the nose was slashed somehow.
"Actually, it is this injury that I suffered some years ago that makes me wear the mask. I hope that you don’t mind." The man said after he took off the mask.
