Instigator and Protector of Violence-Chapter 321: Crossing the Sea
This night was as hot as if the entire Royal Capital could burst into flames.
If it were to rain, the raindrops might even boil.
But if it really did rain, that would be the best possible outcome.
At least that’s what Sea King Lockeby’s men, who were lurking at key spots in the Port District, thought.
They weren’t exactly sure what they were supposed to do, but they had a rough idea that they were to intercept a group of bootleggers.
Just a bunch of bootleggers, after all. This was their turf, and without their permission, no one could move anything out of here.
What’s more, someone seemed to have gotten word that the bootleggers took the road to the west, essentially ending their mission.
This made them even more frustrated.
On such a hot night, they should be in an air-conditioned room having a few drinks, perhaps finding a few girls to have fun with.
Not in some stifling corner wasting time on pointless tasks.
Just as everyone couldn’t help but start grumbling, fireworks suddenly illuminated the sky with startling brilliance.
Seeing the fireworks, everyone became restless.
It wasn’t so much panic as it was excitement.
"That’s towards Shark Jensen’s side, is something happening there?"
"Could it be that those people actually broke through from that side? Are they crazy?"
"Go, go, hurry to support Shark Boss."
"What about our side?"
"Leaving two people should be enough; can’t you see the target has already showed up?"
Amid the commotion, the nearly airtight arrangement sealing off the entire Port District was torn apart by their own people.
They all rushed to one place, the Golden Coast Tavern.
So, what exactly happened at the Golden Coast Tavern?
Rewind to five minutes earlier.
Shark Jensen was contemplating having another drink when a man wearing the Sea God Church’s robe pushed the door open and walked in.
Behind him was a group of people dressed in the same Sea God Church robes.
A group of devotees.
This took Shark Jensen by surprise and made him a bit uncomfortable.
Surprised because the Sea God Church had been around for many years, always adhering to some kind of rule, never easily crossing boundaries.
Their territory was always confined to around the port.
They never got involved in any underground conflicts.
Strictly speaking, he had quite a good relationship with the Sea God Church.
Because he had a good rapport with the Sea God’s crew, there was a lot of business between them.
And it was well known that the captain of the Sea God was the younger brother of the Sea God Church’s Pope.
What do they want?
This is where Shark Jensen felt uneasy; he felt these people had crossed a line, coming aggressively.
And the way that leading guy looked at him was very...
Unsettling to him.
"Who are you? Is there anything I can do for you?"
Shark Jensen didn’t immediately turn them away.
He was very aware of the Sea God Church’s weight, especially in the Port District.
These guys, who had a connection with the sea, seemed low-key, but anyone wanting to venture out to sea wouldn’t want to cross them.
Coincidentally, much of Shark Jensen’s business was sea-related.
"You’re Shark Jensen?"
"That’s right, that’s me."
Shark Jensen nodded and raised a glass.
"Would you like a drink?"
"Please come back with us."
The man’s words were firm.
"Why?"
"You don’t need to know for now."
"Oh, interesting, it’s been a long time since anyone dared talk to me like that."
Shark Jensen slowly stood up.
And his men also stood up at the same time, creating an instant standoff.
Just because he was being polite didn’t mean he was easy to bully.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have survived in a place like the Port District and even managed to dominate a region.
"What’s your name? I happen to know Heigen, the High Priest of your Church; I’d like to ask him, is this the Church’s intention?"
"No, this is the will of the divine."
The man said this almost as if in prayer, and then launched an attack.
In an instant, the whole tavern seemed to fill with a surging tide-like aura.
Shark Jensen never expected the other party to dare to strike directly.
He hadn’t lasted this long because he was easy prey; he fought back immediately.
In no time, the wind swept through the tavern, and gunshots boomed together with it.
Outside the tavern, the people Heigen had arranged to keep an eye on Maurice quickly sent someone to report back.
Maurice was really out of control.
Thus, a signal flare shot up into the sky.
The originally hot weather seemed to boil over with this tension.
The entire Port District seemed to plunge into chaos and conflict at once.
At the same time, several trucks silently rolled into the Port District, passing by those key nodes previously manned by numerous personnel.
The remaining people had their necks snapped by some unknown force, unable to stop these trucks from moving forward.
The Golden Coast Tavern was already in chaos.
Shark Jensen realized something was wrong and shouted, "Who the hell are you? Do you know what you’re doing? You’re declaring war on Sea King Lockeby!"
"Do you know the gravity of this situation?"
He dodged another sweeping attack with a strong gust, hiding behind the wall.
Something must have happened.
These people wouldn’t attack for no reason.
The only things he could think of were the South District and the bootleggers.
"Boss, reinforcements are coming soon..."
One of his men returned from outside, quickly whispering.
Shark Jensen was taken aback, then asked, "Reinforcements, what reinforcements?"
"Boss, it’s just..."
Then, Shark Jensen immediately realized this was their emergency protocol; if a post was attacked, a signal flare should be sent immediately to call for reinforcements.
Other points had it, so naturally, the boss’s post should be given more attention.
But Shark Jensen wasn’t happy at all; instead, his heart kept sinking.
He knew it was over.
This was a trap.
He couldn’t fathom how they managed to collude with the people from the Sea God Church.
As he pondered this, two more slashes wrapped in dense sea wind roared in.
The entire tavern was like a storm-tossed sea.
Shark Jensen could only suppress his anger and have his men quickly help defend.
Tonight’s plan was probably botched, but at least he needed to keep these people here.
That way, in front of Boss Lockeby, he would have something to report.
Just as he pushed his men away, preparing to exert all his strength to stop the people outside,
he felt something point at his back.
"Who... who?"
"Dear Jensen, you really are forgetful. We played dice together, remember? That time, you lost terribly."
Death had arrived.
