Chapter 190: Rabbit vs Wolf

"Xarion, if you’re really feeling uncomfortable, I—" Rory hadn’t even finished speaking before Xarion interrupted her.

"Female Master, I’m not uncomfortable."

The moment the words left his mouth, a flash of white light swept over him. In the next instant, a small silver-white wolf shot up from beside Rory and landed lightly on the sofa.

With a flick of his fluffy tail, he smacked Cotton Candy—who had been sulking in the corner—and chased him away.

Then he promptly claimed the spot for himself.

For now, he really could still endure it.

Rory watched the scene in silent confusion.

Jasper glanced at the little wolf and explained to Rory, "Rory, when males are in their rut, it’s often much easier for them to bear if they stay in their beast form."

The silver wolf immediately nodded his furry head in agreement.

"Female Master, Jasper is right. Believe me—I can endure it."

It would only last a few days. He would be fine.

Rory looked at Xarion, who would rather turn back into his beast form than become mates with her.

She was speechless.

The way he was acting made it seem as if she were the one impatiently pushing for it.

Since he liked enduring it so much, then he could keep enduring.

"If you think you’re fine, then go ahead and endure it," she said calmly.

Rory stopped paying attention to him and continued packing the cookies. Jasper looked at Xarion with a puzzled expression.

He truly didn’t understand what was going on in that wolf’s mind.

This was such a perfect opportunity to become mates with Rory, and he had just refused it.

Aren did not understand that behavior, too.

Watching from the side, he felt it was an absolute waste for this wolf to stay by the Female Master’s side. If Xarion didn’t want the chance, Aren would gladly take his place.

At the moment, Aren didn’t even dare reveal his true identity to the Female Master—let alone dream about becoming her mate.

Seeing Xarion reject Rory made Aren so angry that he sprang up in a flash and leaped onto the wolf’s back, delivering a hard kick straight to his face.

This big-tailed wolf had bullied him before. Last night, he had tied him up and thrown him out of the Female Master’s room. And now he dared to refuse the Female Master.

Old grudges and new ones combined—Aren put absolutely no restraint into that kick.

No one expected Cotton Candy to suddenly attack Xarion.

Rory stared at the scene in shock, momentarily forgetting how to react.

Jasper was equally stunned.

Even Xarion himself hadn’t anticipated that this rabbit would have such courage.

"Chirp—!"

Aren himself was bewildered.

He had kicked Xarion’s face—so why did his own face hurt so much?

The same thing had happened last time.

Just what kind of strange trick had this big-tailed wolf done?

Aren refused to believe that, even though they were both Rank Eleven, he couldn’t injure Xarion.

When the kick failed, he immediately lunged forward and bit down on Xarion’s neck.

This time, Aren used all his strength.

The pale fur around Xarion’s neck was instantly stained red with blood.

"Hiss—!"

Xarion narrowed his eyes in pain.

This rabbit had actually managed to bite through the skin on his neck. That was... unexpected.

But the rabbit was the Female Master’s pet. He couldn’t kill it, and he certainly couldn’t swallow it whole.

Which meant the only option left was to give it a proper beating.

With one swift swipe of his paw, Xarion knocked the rabbit off his back. Then he pinned it down and began swinging his paws left and right, landing blows on Cotton Candy one after another.

He didn’t use any abilities—this was purely a physical fight.

Cotton Candy refused to back down, fighting back with all his strength.

A wolf and a rabbit battled fiercely atop the sofa.

Jasper stared at the scene in astonishment. "Cotton Candy is impressive. He can actually fight Xarion’s beast form and hold his own?"

Rory watched the fight closely. Although Cotton Candy clearly wasn’t gaining the upper hand against Xarion, he also wasn’t being completely overwhelmed.

Her eyes narrowed.

"Rory... should we separate them?" Jasper asked, standing beside her protectively to ensure neither of the fighting beasts could accidentally hurt her.

Rory adjusted the cookies on the table and rolled her eyes.

"If they want to fight, let them fight."

As long as they didn’t ruin the cookies she had worked so hard to make.

Ignoring the wolf and rabbit entirely, Rory picked up the trays of cookies and headed into the dining room.

Jasper glanced once more at Xarion, confirming that he wasn’t actually trying to kill Cotton Candy. Only then did he relax and follow Rory to the dining room to continue packing the cookies.

Outside in the living room, Cotton Candy noticed that Rory had gone into the dining area. No longer holding back, he began striking at Xarion rapidly with his tiny claws.

At that moment, Aren finally realized something strange about Xarion.

Whenever he attacked Xarion, the damage seemed to rebound onto himself with multiplied force.

But the fight had already begun—if he stopped now, wouldn’t Xarion think he had chickened out?

That absolutely wouldn’t do.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

The sounds of their scuffle echoed loudly into the dining room.

Just listening to it made one wince.

Jasper glanced at Rory, who calmly continued wrapping the cookies as if nothing unusual were happening.

Quietly, he sat beside her and helped with the packaging.

For a while, the loud thump-thump-thump of fighting in the living room and the peaceful domestic calm of the dining room existed side by side, forming a strangely harmonious contrast.

By the time Rory packed the final box of cookies and clapped the crumbs from her hands with satisfaction, the commotion outside had finally stopped.

She picked up a freshly poured glass of lemon water and strolled leisurely out of the dining room.

In the living room, Cotton Candy, still dressed in his little princess dress, lay miserably on the floor like a dirty, battered ball of fluff.

His once-beautiful dress was torn into shreds. One ear drooped weakly to the side.

Several patches of pink fur had been pulled out entirely, leaving bald spots—especially around his neck, where three wounds were still bleeding.

Rory clicked her tongue inwardly.

Triple rebound damage... truly lived up to its reputation.

Meanwhile, Xarion lounged lazily across the sofa.

His fur was slightly messy, and aside from a faint smear of blood on the snow-white fur of his neck, he had suffered almost no other injuries.

The moment he saw Rory come out, Xarion immediately shifted back into human form and stood up from the sofa.

Looking somewhat anxious, he pointed toward Cotton Candy on the floor and said, "Female Master, I didn’t hit him." Xarion said quickly. "It was that rabbit who suddenly lost his mind and insisted on attacking me."

Aren, who had clearly lost the fight, covered his head with his tiny paws and didn’t dare look at Rory.

He hadn’t expected Xarion to possess such a bizarre ability.

Rory asked Jasper to treat the wound on Xarion’s neck. Then she walked over and picked up Cotton Candy, who had once again retreated into a gloomy, withdrawn state.

Her voice carried a hint of praise.

"Cotton Candy, you’re really amazing. You actually dared to fight a Rank Eleven like Xarion."

Aren had assumed that losing the fight would make the Female Master dislike him.

So when he suddenly heard Rory praising him, he was completely stunned.

The Female Master didn’t dislike him for losing?

She even praised him?

She still liked him?

"Chirp... chirp..."

Aren let out two weak squeaks toward Rory.

Rory gently stroked the injured spots on his body and sighed sympathetically.

"Xarion was way too harsh. How could he beat you up like this? He’s ruined my beautiful Cotton Candy. My heart aches just looking at you."

"Cotton Candy, does it hurt?"

Rory held the miserable little rabbit in her arms, speaking in a tone full of concern.

She spent quite a while expressing how distressed she felt for him.

Yet throughout all that sympathy... she never actually tried to heal his injuries.

"Chirp!"

Female Master, I’m not in pain.

Not at all.

Don’t worry about me.

After fussing over him for a good while, Rory finally opened her light brain and checked the time. Then she casually set the rabbit back down on the sofa.

Turning to Jasper and Xarion, she said,

"I’m going to the hospital to visit Sister Gina now. Cotton Candy is injured pretty badly, so he’ll stay home."

"Xarion, since you’re in your rut, you should stay home too."

"Female Master, I’m fine now," Xarion said immediately.

There was no way he would stay behind. If the Female Master was going out, he had to remain by her side and protect her.

Besides, after fighting that rabbit just now and venting some of his excess energy, he already felt much better.

He could definitely accompany her.

Seeing that he did indeed seem far more normal now, Rory nodded.

"Alright, then you can come with us."

She asked Jasper to hand the cakes and cookies prepared for Lola Brandon and the Firebird Clan’s leader to the estate’s guard team so they could deliver them to the Firebird Clan.

Afterward, Rory went upstairs to change into a fresh outfit. Then she gathered the pastries she had prepared for Gina and left the estate with Jasper and Xarion.

Once Rory boarded the small flight craft and departed the estate, she immediately opened her light brain and pulled up the estate’s surveillance feed.
