Invisible Security Guard-Chapter 2366 - 2385: Adopting a Godson
The grand assembly lasted late into the night, and Yusuf Zuck directly broached the theme of political reform. Henceforth, the Empire would only symbolically establish the Royal Clan, and the Royal Clan might not even reside within the Empire, since he himself was the Royal Clan.
The reason for establishing the Royal Clan is to give the populace a sense of belonging.
The operation of the Empire would rely on the ministers; he relayed all his knowledge and experience from the Mortal World, such as the House of Commons and Senate, and things like the Legislative Council, political factions, and the like.
The reason for mentioning political factions is that an empire cannot be dominated by a single party. The consequence of one party’s dominance would ultimately lead to the disappearance of the Royal Clan.
So if two or more parties are established, these parties would only mutually constrain and check each other, eventually forming something like a governing party and an opposition party.
In summary, every political party would work for the Empire’s good, not for its downfall, just with differing governance philosophies.
Yusuf Zuck proposed that Rose Campbell should be the actual authority before the reform is implemented. Once the political factions and reform take shape, elections would be held, and Rose could participate at that time.
Of course, the military is independent, but also restricted by the authority.
Yusuf spoke all night, recounting everything he could think of and knew. He didn’t care if the ministers could comprehend it; after all, they would need to explore and understand it themselves.
In truth, Yusuf Zuck wasn’t cut out for politics; however, some ministers in the hall listened intently, naturally adept at strategizing. Yusuf’s reminders sparked their insight, and their eyes gleamed brightly.
Daybreak brought the dispersal of the assembly, and Yusuf Zuck prepared to leave when he was informed that the wife of Minister Harmon wished to see him.
Minister Harmon was the Empire’s Financial Minister, Francis Harmon, but Francis Harmon had been captured, and his whereabouts were unknown. Harmon’s new wife was Rose Campbell from the Patrick Ruiz second-class family, a family that had obtained the golden paper, though few know how she was faring. 𝕗𝕣𝐞𝐞𝘄𝐞𝚋𝚗𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗹.𝚌𝕠𝚖
Her acquisition of the golden paper was, of course, known by few, as she had been secluded in the Transient City, so no one bothered her.
"Rose should have given birth by now, right? Let her in." Yusuf Zuck calculated the time and felt he had been in Patrick Ruiz long enough since Rose was pregnant when he left.
Moments later, Rose Campbell entered the hall. She was once a proud girl of the heavens, but now Francis Harmon’s misdeeds had turned her into a matron.
Nonetheless, she retained her charm, with a grace even more alluring than when she was a maiden.
Upon her entrance, she immediately knelt before Yusuf Zuck and proclaimed loudly, "Rose Campbell greets the Monarch."
"Please rise, no need for formalities. Take a seat. Has the child been born? I recall saying I would adopt as a godchild, is it a girl or a boy?" Yusuf Zuck asked happily, as Rose Campbell was once an old acquaintance, and adopting as a godchild was something he indeed mentioned.
"Thanks to the Monarch’s grace, he is a boy." Rose Campbell’s eyes reddened as she wiped them gently, asking, "Monarch, is there any news of my husband’s whereabouts?"
"Not yet," Yusuf Zuck shook his head, "though I can speculate on who did this, and Francis Harmon should be safe. They want to deal with me, so they won’t harm their lives."
"Then the Monarch returned this time for..." Rose Campbell looked at Yusuf Zuck curiously.
"Just to see if there was any chaos. Fortunately, everything is under Rose’s control." Yusuf Zuck nodded.
"When will the Monarch leave?" Rose Campbell asked again.
"I’ll leave immediately."
"Then take Harmon’s child with you."
"Harmon’s child?" Yusuf Zuck was momentarily confused, but soon he understood; it must be Francis Harmon’s child.
"My husband named the child Martin Harmon."
"Uh..." Yusuf Zuck chuckled wryly. Francis Harmon was known for his love of wealth; to even name his son in such a manner is truly ingenious.
"I’ll take the child away? What about you?" Yusuf Zuck asked upon realizing.
"The Harmon family cannot go a day without its master. I’ll wait at home for my husband’s return, hoping the Monarch educates Harmon’s child into adulthood."
"Taking him with me is fine since he’ll be my godchild. But didn’t you just give birth recently? Are you willing to part with him? It seems unfair to have the child called away from your side." Yusuf Zuck frowned, "Either you go with me, or leave the child until he grows a bit more, at which time I’ll come back for him."
"No need. I trust the Monarch," Rose Campbell replied resolutely.
Yusuf Zuck regarded Rose Campbell seriously for a while, but she stood her ground, her resolution firm.
"Alright, I’ll take good care of him, provide him with the best resources, and ensure he suffers no harm," Yusuf Zuck promised.
Rose Campbell knelt anew, bowing her head deeply to the ground.
She then took out a piece of golden paper, holding it high, "Monarch, for the sake of this golden text, my Campbell lineage was nearly exterminated. In my youthful folly, unaware of the world, I caused disaster. I believed this golden text would guide me in cultivation, but my aptitude is dull. Holding such a treasure, yet unable to unlock its mysteries, I sincerely offer this golden text today. Should the Monarch decipher its teachings, it might provide my child with greater security in the future."
"Ah, around and around," Yusuf Zuck suddenly sighed, "Back in the Dark Void, I encountered the Six Knights of the Winds and Clouds. At that time, they were robbing the Tomb of Golden Respect, and I was capable of snatching this golden text from them—I didn’t. I believed I didn’t lack treasures. Later, returning to Patrick Ruiz, they were cruelly slain upon obtaining the text—that’s fate. Later, I could have taken the treasure from you, but I still didn’t."
"Today, you willingly offer it, which makes me feel sentimental. Perhaps this item truly is destined for me?"
"Of course, I don’t see the text as anything extraordinary, for I’ve met Patrick Ruiz himself who passed down the teachings of this golden text."
Yusuf Zuck seemed to mutter to himself and also speak to Rose Campbell. He didn’t refuse the offering, merely reflecting on the curious fortunes of life—things one doesn’t seek find their way to you.
He indeed felt some connection with the golden text.
He absorbed the golden text into his hand, and upon examining it, the text suddenly emitted a brilliant light, blinding Rose Campbell and leaving her agape with astonishment.
Yusuf Zuck felt a stirring within and swiftly stored the golden text. After pondering, Francis Harmon decided to summon the great Green Jellyfish spirit to appear in the hall.
The Green Jellyfish was a female, a powerhouse at the Everlasting Ninth Realm, having followed the Great Black Bull spirit.
"From this moment on, follow Rose Campbell. Fully protect her life until her husband returns. Then, return to Patrick Ruiz to find me." Saying this, Yusuf Zuck turned to Rose Campbell and stated, "The reason I have a guardian of the Everlasting Ninth Realm protect you is not because you are Rose Campbell, nor because you are Francis Harmon’s wife, but because you are the mother of my godchild. I cannot let my godchild grow without meeting his mother—it’s too cruel. So you must live well. When Harmon’s child is older, I’ll call him back to meet his biological mother!"
Rose Campbell buried her head once more, weeping softly.
