Isekaied Into An Eroge, Time To Have Fun!-Chapter 210: Improvements
Taking in a deep breath, I tried to steady my heartrate as much as I could while aiming towards the particularly dangerous monster that had priority; being given the task of whittling down the health of whichever enemy looked more important was a little stressful, but it was also keeping me away from the frontline.
We had decided to come to a grindier Dungeon just because we were thinking of using all of our remaining time to get some gains, both physically as well as economically as we went at this for the long haul.
The Dungeon was a canyon stretching between two gigantic and conflicting mountains, with one being an ashen yet dormant volcano and the other being an icy forest coated in snow, providing us a large variety of monsters to choose from.
Down the middle was the most populated portion of the middle, the canyon getting filled with both sets of monsters that were determined to try and rip one another apart, leaving themselves wide open for us adventurers to rush forwards and third party any and all of them. 𝓯𝙧𝙚𝒆𝙬𝙚𝒃𝙣𝙤𝒗𝓮𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
That was currently what we were doing since it was practically the only real way to fight in this Dungeon; Kha’Miero, Lu’Shaki and Ishtarnii were pushed forwards acting as a barrier against the horde while Anwen danced around poking various monsters with a spear she brought.
Then there was Sera and I hiding behind them, attacking from range and picking off whatever troublesome monster reared its head and decided to do something about the mortals interrupting its war against the other monsters.
The one that was in my sights right now was some sort of Ogre, its blistered red skin studded with chunks of obsidian that acted as small pieces of armor or weaponry depending on where it was located; a crown of black horns glittered in the sunlight while its two giant eyes were bloodshot as it let loose a long, raspy roar.
My arrow sliced through the air and smacked into its shoulder, my aim slightly off and my skills untested in an area with a fair amount of wind, so all I managed to do was piss the fiery Ogre off as it swatted at its wounded shoulder to remove the arrow.
Letting loose another roar, it glared at me before focusing its gaze on the three frontliners, wreathing its thick arms in flames and raising them high in the air as it tried to smash straight through them, but in doing so it gave me more than enough target to aim at.
Another arrow found its way onto the bowstring, and this time I felt the breeze on my skin and adjust slightly for it, taking that extra second before releasing the bowstring and sending that arrow flying once more.
This time it soared through the air before thudding against the meaty neck of the Ogre, catching it off guard and stunning it for a moment, giving me more than enough time to lay another arrow on the string and swiftly empower it with mana.
I missed the ideal timing to hit it while it was stunned, but trading that speed for power was worth it as the third arrow sunk deep into its chest, punching through a lung and causing the monster to double over as it had its air forced from its body.
Now I had a larger timing to work with, but the momentary hesitation that came from me wondering if four arrows was worth it for an almost dead monster gave it the opportunity to stand back up, but that was where Sera came to ’save the day’.
The blonde did so by smacking it in the head with a hastily hurled boulder, cracking its skull open and showering the nearby monsters with shrapnel as it broke upon contact, saving me from whatever mistake I could have just made.
My way to make up for that was to empower the next arrow with a fair amount of somewhat unstable flames, making sure there was enough to do some good damage but not enough to risk serious injury to myself if something went wrong.
It was a bit risky but it paid off the moment I shot the arrow at the next big monster, with this one being a crystalline Golem of some kind that immediately fell backwards the moment the arrow slammed into its chest.
The flames exploded outwards and bathed the nearby monsters in fire as well, dealing a large amount of damage to the impacted monster but also damaging some more of the chaff, making it all the easier for the frontliners to deal with them.
I didn’t have a surplus of time to bask in the results of such a successful attack, but the effect it had on the horde was good enough for me since it opened up a rapid and devastating wave of death onto the closest monsters.
So many fell as the frontliners made their move forwards, cutting down a large swathe of monsters and taking some space that enabled quite a more aggressive fight for all parties involved, something that they were clearly hoping for.
All three of them leaned forwards and began to cut down more and more monsters as they took that space, while Anwen began to laugh as she danced around them, her spear lunging around their bodies and piercing through skulls and ribs.
Dozens of corpses began to litter the area around us, and soon enough the frontliners had slaughtered almost all of our enemies, leaving Sera and I to confirm that there were no stragglers before we began to drag them back into our ’safe haven’.
A crag that had more than enough space for all of us and that was high enough off of the canyon that we only had to worry about some of the volcanic monsters meandering on down inside, though a bit of Earth magic and some practical ’training’ with the nearby boulders allowed us quite a bit of peace of mind.
