Island God: Going From Level 1 To World Ruler-Chapter 100: Second Breath
"Tell me!" Midas’s soul burned red with a furious tone, "Tell me why I must face the darkness!? I have never faced it before! What in the world is it!?"
Midas, however, was no longer at a loss.
Far from it. He had a smile on his face. He had finally figured it out.
"I get it now... I get the second sentence that Dorian said." Midas said. Depending on the result of the following answer, it would prove whether or not Dorian’s words were, in fact, the path to breaking through the Nine-Breath cultivation technique as well!
It would prove that in his answer to what was the path to creating supremacy, he also answered how one could use this fearsome technique step by step, sentence by sentence!
"The darkness!" Midas roared, "It does not exist!" His eyes were wide, his intentions vulnerable.
’Will you believe me!?’ He thought, ’Believe me!’ He hoped.
"The darkness has never existed for you, and it continues to not exist. For you are a soul, not a being! You are not tethered to this realm... You are not bound to the material world! For you, darkness is non-existent!" Midas cried, desperation clear in his tone.
At once, the doom he felt was erased from the air.
His soul calmed, returning to a bright, warm white color.
"I see..." His soul said.
The darkness around them disappeared. No, it was swallowed. It was swallowed by an array of colors that Midas couldn’t quite describe.
Rainbow? No... it seemed more like a constantly moving color. One that was never a single color, but all colors at once, while also being ever-changing.
It was... a new color. The color of nothingness.
Midas gasped with shock. He was unable to comprehend what he was seeing for a moment. Unable to believe that it was real.
"N-nothingness... so this is what it looks like." He muttered, at a loss. He couldn’t describe how it looked, but he could tell that it looked... infinite.
It expanded, shrank, and changed colors all at the same time while being the same, unchanging dimensional force!
"Thank you... Thank you for helping your own soul realize that the material world does not exist." Midas’s soul said, glowing a green color now. "Now that your soul itself knows this fact... You will never forget it until the day you die. Deep down, you will know that you are not your thoughts. You are nothing that exists in this plane. And as such... nothing here can affect you." His soul said.
Midas was confused by his soul’s words, but they didn’t sound like negative news. Not at all!
And then, Midas blinked. When he opened his eyes again, he was back in the realm of reality.
Night had fallen, but he could finally hear the peaceful crashing of the waterfall nearby, along with the flow of the river and the cries of the crickets in the grass.
’I’m back...’ He felt an overwhelming amount of relief. A smile appeared on his face as his eyes teared up.
The sense of doom he had been consumed by made him feel like he would never see the world again. It was a horrible feeling, but Midas was glad he got through it.
Just then, he noticed that he was no longer sitting on a rock. He was, in fact, floating in mid-air.
The boulder below him had completely vanished. No... it seemed to be the case that Midas had obliterated it.
’W-what in the world is going on!?’ He thought as he noticed a powerful aura blasting all around him. Wind flew out away from his body as though he were some opposite black hole.
The space in a 10 by 10 feet distance around Midas was continuously being devoured by this aura that existed around him.
He noticed he felt no headache. ’Hmm... that’s neat.’ He thought. Then, he thought back to what the soul had said at the end of their meeting.
’It said I will never forget that the soul is not bound to the material world... huh? I wonder what that means... and more so, I wonder how it will help me.’
Pushing these thoughts off to the side for now, he decided to continue his cultivation.
He closed his eyes, calming himself before inhaling.
As soon as the air began to enter his mouth, however, he could tell that something was different. Much, much different.
But not in a bad way. The air he was intaking felt as crisp and cool as a breeze on a snowy day.
He could feel the breath travel through his body. It surged through his limbs one by one, making each one glow with rejuvenation and the feeling of freshness.
The breath traveled to his organs and brain, allowing these extremities to be painted in a soothing calm as well.
The breath felt amazing. It felt like Midas had been breathing wrong his entire life, and finally, he had taken his first-ever true, full breath.
As he exhaled, he felt his entire body grow in strength.
The feeling was familiar. ’I did it.’ Midas thought, a smile growing on his face.
’I broke through into the second breath. I can tell I did... I know it!’ He was extremely proud of himself.

A few feet away, Dorian could be seen leaning against a tree with this eyes closed. His back was turned against Midas, a tree between them.
’This guy...’ He said inwardly, as though slightly amazed, ’He dove within his own consciousness. No... more than that, he even had so much insight and will as to discover his own spirit. To have the mental strength for such a feat... he has a few surprises coming to him.’ Dorian smirked, turning and facing Midas.
Midas was imbued with power and satisfaction. Hearing all of these stats was like music to his ears.
After all, gaining power was the main path he had to obtain victory, which he so selfishly and deeply desired.
However, he did not want to stop cultivating there. He felt as though he wanted to continue. He felt confident in his ability to learn the breathing at an even more rapid pace now.
He didn’t know exactly why, but the confidence came from deep within him.
So, he took in another perfect breath. As he inhaled, however, he once again felt the same revitalizing feeling echo across his body.
