Chapter 119: Last Night (Episode 2)

*EXTRA LONG Chapter*

---

"Oh, really?" Midas turned and faced the tall goblin, "Show me. Let’s see how far your expertise has expanded." He smiled.

Yemo smirked, reaching into his back pocket and pulling out a glock! It was a weapon that looked extremely similar to a gun from Earth.

The exterior looked to be made out of iron and other precious metals. It had a switch and trigger just like any other gun.

It looked slightly different from a normal hand-held pistol, being slightly smaller in size. The nozzle was also flat instead of round.

Midas’s eyes flew wide open for a second with shock as he saw the gun.

’What the...’ He thought.

"The first of its kind," Yemo shouted, "I call it the faster blade shooter thingy! It is a weapon that excels due to the Blood Essence powder. Using it as a propellant, this shooter thingy can unleash sharp blades at hyper speeds! I doubt even Aspect Tier creatures could dodge it!" He laughed as dozens of goblins formed a group behind him.

They all had these guns in their hands, which were clasped at the front of their body. They stood frozen like statues, as if they were products being shown off.

"And this is the brand new squad that I have created. Trained by the best of orc kind, and gifted with the most advanced Star Island technology, they are the most elite goblin fighting squad--the Faster Blade Shooter Thingy Squad!" Yemo announced with pride.

"Eh... I might need some more work on the name still. I was just so excited to show you the finished product that I didn’t care about naming it yet." He admitted, chuckling nervously.

"This weapon... is amazing!" Midas reacted. The crowd behind him had similar reactions of surprise and amusement.

"If it can outspeed even Aspect Tier creatures, it will be an immense tool in our arsenal. You have far exceeded my expectations, Yemo." Midas said.

"Of course!" Yemo flexed his bicep, "This is my duty, after all!" He smiled.

Midas and the other elders chuckled, followed by many in the surrounding crowd.

"But yeah, the name really needs some work. How about I give a suggestion?" Midas asked.

"Oh? Sure! It would be an honor to have you name my weapon, lord Midas!" Yemo eagerly replied.

"It will be called the Blade Pistol. And your squad can be called the Pistol Squad." Midas smirked, "What do you think?"

"P-pistol?" Yemo said, "I have no clue what it means, but for some reason, I think it fits the weapon perfectly!" He shouted.

"I have an idea for another type of ammunition for it as well," Midas said, capturing the ears of Yemo and others. "Make round bullets that contain Blood Essence within so that when they make contact with the target, they result in an explosion of flame. When dealing with an enemy that has a hard exoskeleton, it could be a great alternative."

Yemo’s eyes widened with surprise.

"W-wow... I hadn’t even thought of the possibility. It is truly ingenious!" Yemo reacted, amazed.

Bzzrt floated forward, hiccuping with drunkness.

"Indeed." He buzzed, "This weapon seemed to only have one weakness, which was the blades. Any enemy with an outer armor could easily overcome the weapon entirely. However, creating an explosion of blunt force is a great way to counter hard armor!"

Midas smiled, leaning back. His mind began to wander off with different thoughts.

The most important thought of all was who he wanted to take with him.

’I can only take one thousand. Leaving Sergalas’s contract open means 999 warriors in total. I didn’t know whether I wanted to take the goblins or not, since they are the weakest of the bunch. But I think I can take Yemo and his Pistol Squad at the very least. I want to use these powerful new weapons, and his squad has the best handling of them. They should fare alright in the battle now, which eases some of my worry.’ He thought, relieved.

’Now... who else should I take? Strategizing a war is less of my thing... since I’ve literally never done it before. Hopefully I’ll get better as time passes.’ He said to himself.

Speaking of time passing, a few hours swiftly sped by. Due to the enjoyment of the night, time felt like it was flying.

By the end, everyone was blacked out drunk. They were going to go out with a bang!

Songs of valor and defeat were sung, dance battles were held, arm wrestling competitions were plentiful, and by the end of the night, Dorhal was storming into the giant center campfire with Indomitable Wall active!

"Tell me I won’t!"

"You can! You can!"

"Please don’t, Supreme Commander!"

"Elder Dorhal!"

"Ouuuf!"

...

Safe to say, everyone within the city enjoyed their night... apart from Leon, of course.

But just like that, the night was over, and the sun slowly rose over the horizon once again the following morning.

As the early birds sang songs in the canopy, Midas and the rest of his legion prepared to depart for the event.

Midas stood in front of thousands of souls.

"Now, I will select the thousand members who will join me," Midas said in a raised tone so that all in his company could hear him.

His subordinates straightened their posture and tried to appear as powerful as possible.

Sure, they were signing up for war. But Midas’s ambition had convinced them that it was worth it!

Now that they were already under his command, they wanted to do everything in their power to ensure that he was the one to gain the Throne of Dominion.

After all, this would benefit them the most as well.

Silence fell over the field as Midas began choosing candidates from each species one by one.

"From the goblins, the fifty members of the Pistol Squad, led by Elder Yemo, will join me. Elder Gool will also be a part of this journey." Midas used their formal titles, as he was addressing them in front of everyone.

A small cheer came from the goblins.

"From the trolls, I will accept all forty-seven led by Uranus! You are all powerful and can hold your weight in your own rights."

The trolls bellowed and cried with pride and readiness.

"From the mosquitoes, I will accept no normal warriors. Only Soldier mosquitoes shall join me. Out of their ranks, three hundred and fifty will accompany me."

The mosquitoes buzzed with pride and subservience.

"And finally, from the orcs, I will accept five hundred and fifty of the most elite to become the main body of my army."

Dorhal beat his chest like a drum. His Indomitable Wall made the sound echo into the sky like he had a speaker attached to his body.

"Ouuuuf!" He roared.

"Ouuuf! Ouuuf! Ouuuuf!" The orc population cried with fierce intent.

Midas smiled, "It’s settled then. All you... Sign your contracts, and join me!"

At once, hundreds of floating paper contracts appeared in front of those selected by Midas.

As soon as they accepted the contract, the thousand warriors were absorbed into Midas’s ring.

By the end, less than half of the population remained.

"Have a safe journey!"

"Come back as victor, Lord Midas!"

"We will wait for you until then!"

"Claim victory, my lord!"

"We are all rooting for you!"

Hearing all of these words of encouragement, Midas couldn’t help but smile.

He glanced up at the sky.

Midas disappeared, abruptly absorbed into the heavens. For him, it felt like he had only blinked once.

When he opened his eyes again, however, he noticed that he was in an entirely different environment...
