"Well. Unfortunately, you and they are wrong." Ethan replied.
Petal turned to look at Jacob who stopped the car on the roadside.
"How so?" The woman asked.
Ethan kept on a poker face as he stopped the video."No need to hear the rest. I know everything I said very well." He said putting the phone on the deck.
Petal stared at him with hazel eyes that were full of sadness right now but she didnβt cry. She didnβt feel the need to. She was a fool and now she was paying the price for her foolishness.
Now that he had confirmed that what he said in the video was true. She felt as if her heart had been stabbed with a knife. Everything was a lie.
"You did it all for revenge?" She asked him. Signaling.
Ethan chuckled as he looked at her."Yes. For revenge." He replied, watching the look of sadness on her face. He broke her heart.
Petal smiled bitterly as she turned her head looking outside the window. It hurt so much yet she didnβt feel weak. She was shocked by her reaction. Any other girl might have been weeping now over her loverβs betrayal but not her.
Jacob stood there watching without interfering. Petal had asked him in the car to let her handle this on her own and he respected her wish.
Turning to look at him. She walked towards him and picked up her phone from the table and walked towards the fireplace throwing the phone inside it. Then she reached for the necklace on her neck pulling it roughly until the necklace broke off her neck throwing it too inside the fireplace. Watching as the phone that had their good memories together inside it burned and the two rings that he gifted her started to melt inside the blazing fire. Ending everything.
Turning to look at him for the last time. Petal walked towards him. She wanted to look at him for the last time before she declared her war on him. Walking towards the door, PetaI left the study room going upstairs to her room.
"Keep taking care of her and donβt let her do so something stupid." Ethan said to Jacob as walked towards the window.
Jacobβs eyebrows draw together. Now he was very confused before he realized the truth."You lied to her. But why?" Jacob asked him.
Ethan didnβt reply immediately. He stared outside the window thinking about how everything turned out to be like this. "Itβs best to keep things this way for now." He replied, turning to look at him.
Jacob understood what Ethan meant. But he didnβt agree with his ways of dealing with things. So extreme that he ends up hurting her in the process."You might have lost her for good." He pointed,
"A price I have to pay to keep her save." Ethan replied, turning to look at the fireplace. The rings had already started to melt. It made him feel sad.
He didnβt plan for things to end like this. Someone dissolved his orders and the judgment this time is death for everyone involved. His close circle needs to be cleaned. Recently he was so soft on them that dared to stab him in the back.

"Petal." Alice called Petal as she walked towards her.
Petal didnβt reply and kept climbing the stairs. Right now she doesnβt have the energy to deal with anyone. All she wanted was to be alone.
Lana watched what happened with a deep frown on her face. Walking towards the study room. She saw Ethan coming out of it.
"What have you done Ethan?" Lana muttered under her breath.
----
Looking at the door behind her. Petal threw her bag on the floor along with her coat and walked towards the bed taking a seat on it. She opened the drawer and took out a medicine box from the inside. It was the sleeping pills she used to take. Today she needed to take one. She needed long hours of sleep to clear her head.
Swallowing the pile with the water. She reached for her ear devices and removed them and then she removed her shoes and lay down on the bed. Turning off the bedside lamp. She closed her eyes. She hoped that the darkness would help her to fall asleep faster with the pill that she took
Unwillingly the tears slid down from the corner of her eyes landing on the pillows underneath her. Petal clutched the fabric that was covering her chest. It hurt so much and she wished that thereβs a way to make it stop.
Everything was a lie. Temporary happiness that she let herself get carried away with. How she didnβt notice anything? But then again he played his part so well that It was hard for her to notice anything.
Petal didnβt regret a single moment she spent with him because her feelings were true. Everything she told him was honest and true while he played with her emotions. He could have killed her, tortured her. It would have been better than the pain and the heartache that she was feeling right now.
Soon. The pill started to take its effect and Petal fell asleep. It was the most horrible birthday she ever had. The day she turned twenty-three now was marked as the day her heart was broken.
The revenge flame was rekindled. The heart that had been left behind came to life again and the endless war of revenge-seeking has started again. Only this time was from one side.
---
"What happened?" Lana asked Jacob.
Jacob sighed. He doesnβt know what happened. A hatred that has been faked. A lie that had been fabricated. All this was done just to protect her. Did the coast have to be them being parted? He doesnβt know.
"Iβm sorry but I have to go." Jacob said, leaving Lana standing there.
Lana turned to look at the table that was full of food. She wondered why her family never stayed happy. Are they destined to live like this, unhappy?.
