I've Got A Mana Processor In A Magic World-Chapter 83: Sick Boy
The grotesque demon swept a hand in the air, looking to smash Jet to smithereens in one motion, but Jet, almost like he defied physics, skidded to a stop as abruptly as he could, dropping to the ground nimbly as the demon staggered to a stop and turned around.
His eyes met Jet’s, who, while in the motion of falling backward, had his hand pointed at the open backside of the grotesque demon. "Heh!" Jet grinned madly in excitement.
The air around his hand deformed rapidly, groaning under sudden pressure as the sounds of rapid pops were heard within a split second.
Right as Jet had charged towards the grotesque demon, he had been building up this particular spell. It was something he had come up with over the course of the year, just in case he ever met something or someone stronger than he was.
Fusion Blast—he called it. A fusion of multiple fire arrow spells into a single compressed point of energy. The spell strained his mind, as he needed to focus on maintaining the image of compression while subconsciously casting the fire arrow spell within in quick succession.
His current thirty-two mana node count had allowed him more versatility in tweaking spells to some extent. He had more than enough for some level of complex multitasking, where he didn’t even have to think about one part of the process at all. So now, casting spells with the knowledge he had depended mostly on his creativity.
BANG!!!
Jet released the compressed ball of fire just as he was about to lose control. It whizzed across the short distance between him and the grotesque demon faster than he could blink, blasting a massive hole through the huge demon upon impact.
Jet was lucky it even hit. The violent recoil from the release had knocked his quick aim totally off. If not for the short distance between them, it would have blasted off towards another direction.
The demon had tried to dodge within the split second he realized the danger of Jet’s spell, but he was too late. Even with Jet’s derailed aim, the spell had blasted a massive, gaping hole through his sides, shredding an arm along with his internals before continuing for a short distance and exploding on the ground, sending earth scattering across the whole area.
The grotesque demon gurgled out some unintelligible words as blood spurted from his mouth, before slumping to his knees and falling to the ground. Dead.
The other demon—the dead one’s colleague—roared in pain and anger.
The whole thing had happened so quickly that he didn’t have time to even think properly. One moment his friend was alive and kicking, sure to smack the unruly little creature to death. The next, he was dead on his feet, before slumping, with a large, gaping hole right through his sides like a chunk had been eaten out of him.
The other demon was frenzied. Partly in anger, and partly in fear and wariness. The little creature they had underestimated had just killed his colleague in the blink of an eye.
He immediately charged up his inherent race sigil that granted him strength through madness. He felt the process happen as the sigils activated. Instantly, his internal organs received the instructions that allowed them to break past their base limit, at the expense of burning blood. This was their method of casting magic—enhancement magic. Their own convoluted way of interacting with origin.
The demon’s muscles grew rapidly, and his size doubled. Veins bulged like they threatened to pop at any moment. His beady eyes had turned pitch black as he focused on Jet, who was reeling from the recoil of his last spell, standing up to prepare himself as he watched the demon’s transformation from his dizzy state.
He immediately fired a barrage of fire arrow spells at the demon, even with his dizziness. Running backward to widen the distance between both of them as he fired off the spells that ricocheted off the demon’s massive body.
It didn’t hurt the demon as much as Jet thought it would, but at least the impact was enough to halt his charge for the moment.
Jet had about twenty fire arrows raining in quick succession, as randomly as he could manage while he tried to get his bearings.
"Vgrallishan Khartkga—!" The demon roared before being cut off by Jet’s fire arrows.
Bang Bang Bang
The demon covered his head, swinging his hands about in the air, trying to clear his view to see Jet’s figure, but the constant barrage gave him no reprieve.
"Khartkgan Mkkrallu—!"
Bang Bang Bang Bang
The demon kept being cut off before finishing his statement in his language.
ROOARRR
The grotesque demon gave up trying to protect himself, his state of madness heightening further into pure mania. He burst through the barrage, which Jet directed to home after him like a heat-seeking missile equivalent.
As the demon charged forward, Jet’s figure became clearer all of a sudden. He was shielded by a lightly glowing round dome, sitting on the ground in intense concentration as he coordinated the fire arrow spells that appeared outside the small dome. The rate of fire had reduced by more than half, giving the demon the reprieve to cover the remaining distance and slam into the shield with all the anger that filled its mind.
There was no thought left in its head except to pulverize the little creature sitting within the barrier that obstructed it.
Jet didn’t budge even a little. The shield spell he conjured was an offshoot of the mana barrier spell they had been taught back at the military camp, so he knew it could at least hold up under the frenzied attacks of the demon for a little while as long as he fed it mana consistently.
His main focus now was conjuring the same spell he had used to end the other demon in one strike. He had halted his fire barrage on the demon outside totally, instead putting his all into the mana shield and the spell he was creating at the moment, gritting his teeth in concentration as the demon’s blows became heavier and more rapid, almost as if somewhere within the frenzied mania, he could sense the danger the spell Jet was conjuring posed.
SLAM! SLAM! SLAM!
The demon’s blows became even faster and more panicked before he stopped abruptly, consciousness coming back to his eyes. It was too late.
Jet had gone overboard with this one, straining to move his hand carefully enough not to trigger the spell as he pointed at the demon staring at him from above.
"Fuck you!" He said with satisfaction, dismantling the shield spell just as the grotesque demon turned tail and ran away.
WHIZZ!!!
Jet let the spell sail. And in a split second, it detonated right on the demon as it turned, shrieking and trying to parry. The spell blasted it into smithereens and covered the surroundings in a shower of fire.
Jet, tired and spent, lay on the ground for a while to catch his breath before he stood up and walked through the fires that burned all around, towards where the two demons had been playing a game with their food, wasting it boorishly. He looked down on the meat that was now burnt and charred black, sitting down on the ground and tearing a piece of it, eating with a satisfied smile on his face even though the taste was bad.
His laughs echoed through the flames, at himself and the absurdity of the situation...
