Journey to the West: Starting from Changing Sun Wukong's fate-Chapter 44 - Must Not Kill
44: Chapter 44: Must Not Kill
44 -44: Must Not Kill
“But what?”
Upon hearing Clairvoyance’s words, the Jade Emperor couldn’t help frowning.
Clairvoyance spoke hesitantly, “But his speed of escape is extremely slow, as if he’s not at all eager to return to Mount Huaguo!”
Hearing Clairvoyance’s words, the Jade Emperor thought there was something wrong but then indifferently said, “No matter, now he’s not in a hurry, in the future, he will have his own reasons to worry!”
The Jade Emperor waved his hand.
Now, Buddhism’s plan against Sun Wukong had already begun, it was just that Wukong was unaware of it.
Once Wukong returned to Mount Huaguo, that naturally would be the time for him to worry.
In the Ninth celestial Palace above, the conversation shifted to other matters.
…
Deep within the Posa Pure Land to the Western Direction.
Patriarch Bodhi radiated countless Buddha’s lights that shone towards the depths.
Soon he saw Amitabha Buddha and Saint Zhunti both standing up to welcome him, and he put his palms together, “Amitabha Buddha, there is no need for such grand gestures from the saints.
I am one with the Buddha Mother, and all this is unnecessary!”
After making a bow, he transformed into a beam of light and entered into the Three Flowers at the crown of Zhunti’s head.
Seeing Patriarch Bodhi’s reaction, Zhunti and Amitabha Buddha exchanged glances and both saw a wry smile in each other’s eyes.
After all, Patriarch Bodhi had been outwitted by a monkey, and the blessed land of immortals he had managed for many years turned into that state, they presumed their own mood wouldn’t fare much better.
However, with Sun Wukong descending the mountain and the Calamity of Measurement of the Journey to the West commencing, everything was worth it.
After that, the two saints spoke no further, merely waiting for the progress of the Calamity of Measurement.
Meanwhile, in the skies above Mount Huaguo in the Sea-Covering Kingdom in the Eastern Sea, a figure approached from afar, dazzling in golden light.
“My children, your Great King has returned!”
A long howl spread around, echoing through heaven and earth.
As he called out, Stone Monkeys from behind rocks and plants peeked out, males and females, young and old, and upon seeing Sun Wukong, they were all momentarily stunned, then showed an incredulous expression.
An old monkey, upon seeing Sun Wukong, immediately leaped out, began to call to the nearby monkeys and gathered them all.
Soon thousands stood before Sun Wukong.
The old monkey was quite old and looking at Sun Wukong, tears were brimming in his elderly eyes.
“Great King, you’ve been gone for more than a decade.
Indeed, do you not worry about us?
We were left here at Mount Huaguo, yearning for you day and night, and later even our Water Curtain Cave was taken by others!”
Sun Wukong’s eyes widened in shock at these words, his expression filled with disbelief, and he quickly inquired, “The Water Curtain Cave of Mount Huaguo is Old Sun’s territory, who dares to be so bold!”
“Great King, you don’t know, recently Demons and Monsters have run amok, bullying and bossing around.
Many of the Demon Race on Mount Huaguo have also suffered their tyranny.
Seeing our Water Curtain Cave as a cave heaven and blessed land, they wanted to take it over.
With no home to return to, we could only hide here to avoid being wiped out by those demons!”
“Luckily, the Great King has now returned; if you were any later, even by half a year, I fear the Great King would not be able to see us anymore!”
At this point, the old monkey began to weep bitterly, and not just him; the group of monkeys and their offspring also cried their eyes out.
Sun Wukong, witnessing this scene, was momentarily startled and quickly helped the old monkey up, “Don’t cry, don’t cry.
Just tell me where that demon lives and how far it is from here!”
The old monkey immediately said, “That Demon King resides on North Mountain, how far it is from here, I am not clear; he comes with the clouds and goes with the mist, we do not know!”
Sun Wukong nodded slightly upon hearing this, aware that each monster has its own tricks of Transformation.
“Wait here for me.
Old Sun will go look for him and will be back shortly!”
Having said that, Sun Wukong mounted a cloud under his feet and in an instant, he traveled hundreds of miles, stopping beneath a range of mountains which appeared very steep with verdant hills and upright peaks, and deep, meandering ravines.
Below the mountains was a cave dwelling facing a pool scattered with countless white bones and festering flesh, emitting a foul stench.
Several little demons clad in tattered Armor were frolicking by the poolside.
Sun Wukong perched atop a mountain peak, observing the cave dwelling below enveloped in a noxious atmosphere.
Just as he was about to attack, he suddenly halted his advance.
Although he had now achieved some level of mastery, the Three Realms were perilous, and he had only heard the one-sided stories from monkeys and their descendants in Jiangsu.
It was still too narrow a perspective.
He had to assess the situation before acting; if he encountered a master, wouldn’t that be seeking death?
After all, even the act of delivering a treasure had brought him face to face with so many experts, let alone being here.
“Today, the Great King said he is waiting for a Demon King to come; with our Great King’s strength, how could any Demon King compare!”
“That’s only natural!”
The discussion amongst a few little demons gradually reached his ears.
Sun Wukong furrowed his brow.
From the sound of it, did the demon already know he was coming to find him?
Under such circumstances, Sun Wukong wouldn’t rashly proceed.
He would wait and get a clear understanding of the situation first.
Sun Wukong didn’t go forward to kill those few little demons, but instead turned around and left.
At that moment, a light exclamation came from the void above.
A monk clad in kasaya, showing a compassionate expression, stepped out from above the void.
This monk was about ten feet tall, and his entire body radiated dazzling Buddha’s light.
If any celestial immortals were present, they would recognize this person as the Sunlight Bodhisattva from the Western Buddhist Sect.
He was also the Bodhisattva tasked with overseeing the Journey to the West in this area.
Originally, according to his plan, he wanted Sun Wukong to become enraged, stimulating his temperament and thus laying the groundwork for Sun Wukong’s eventual Havoc in Heaven.
Indeed, after the theft at his cave dwelling, Sun Wukong arrived, full of fury and ready to confront the Great Demon.
But what they didn’t expect was for Sun Wukong to come and then leave again.
What should they do now?
“His cave dwelling gets snatched away, and he still does not act?
How is this different from our projections?”
The Sunlight Bodhisattva said with a knit brow.
His expression was complex, but he soon sighed in relief, “Now that his cave dwelling has been occupied, even if he doesn’t act at once, he will do so sooner or later!”
For these immortals and buddhas, time was abundant, so even if Sun Wukong didn’t act right away, he was bound to do so one day.
“Let’s just watch the changes for now!”
Although the Sunlight Bodhisattva was surprised, he quickly calmed down, believing that in the end, Sun Wukong would act as Buddha had foreseen.
…
Meanwhile, Sun Wukong had already returned to Mount Huaguo.
Upon seeing Sun Wukong, the many monkeys and their descendants couldn’t help but rush up to greet him.
“Great King, Great King, did you find that Demon King’s cave dwelling?”
“Of course!”
“Then has the Great King killed the Demon King to avenge us, monkeys and their descendants?”
The old monkey hurriedly asked.
“Cannot kill, cannot kill!”
Sun Wukong shook his head and said.
