Chapter 53 - 48 The Mysterious Domain/ Domain Clash

"Eh? Where are they?" Dr. Agasa leaned over the computer screen, staring intently for a long moment before finally admitting the two figures had genuinely vanished from the camera feed.

The others in the room exchanged silent glances.

"Are you sure he's actually a doctor? A great inventor?" Geto Suguru tapped his temple and mouthed the question to Conan.

The young detective merely sighed and shrugged in response.

"Satoru...they..."

Geto turned to consult Gojo—perhaps the Six Eyes could locate the missing intruders—only to find the white-haired sorcerer was no longer in the laboratory. His teeth clenched as suspicion flared. If his guess was correct, they'd entered some form of living domain. The only question was whether its creator was sorcerer or cursed spirit.

*They excluded Satoru intentionally...and they don't see me as a threat.*

With a quick hand sign, Geto summoned his Cursed Spirit Gecko. With Conan and Dr. Agasa being ordinary humans in this dangerous space, he couldn't leave them unprotected. The small spirit scurried off to scout their surroundings.

"Geto Suguru," Conan adjusted his glasses, instantly recognizing the shift in atmosphere, "are we inside a cursed spirit's domain now?"

"Probably," Geto replied carefully, "but I don't know who created it. They deliberately kept Satoru out."

Conan frowned. "When we were in the Sendai haunted house, the domain looked completely fantastical. But here...I can't tell any difference from Dr. Agasa's actual lab."

"Of course it's my home!" Dr. Agasa nodded vigorously. "I'd recognize it anywhere!"

Geto shook his head. "The cursed energy here is overwhelming. This isn't your real laboratory."

As he spoke, the Gecko reported back—two strangers were moving through the house as if it were empty. Geto took two steps back as dark fissures began splitting the air behind him, icy cursed energy seeping through.

"Kid, I underestimated you." A rough voice echoed from the doorway. The speaker was a disheveled man around forty, his black hair haphazardly tied back, crow's feet wrinkling at his eyes. Beside him stood an alarmingly thin younger man who looked like a strong breeze might topple him.

"Is this your domain?" Geto calmly dismissed the Gecko. "How long do you think you can keep Satoru trapped?"

The thin man chuckled. "Hah! We don't need long—just enough time to find that USB." He gestured between them. "I'm Hamasaki Daisuke. My maze domain has your Six Eyes user nicely occupied. This is Kimura Watanabe—his domain perfectly replicates real spaces. What we find here..."

"...our associates will retrieve from the real location," Kimura finished.

*Thwick!*

While they monologued, Conan had fired a tranquilizer dart—only for it to veer sharply midair and embed in the doorframe.

Kimura smirked. "In my domain, only cursed techniques can touch us."

Dr. Agasa suddenly brightened. "So that's why my security systems didn't activate! You're cheating!"

Geto's shadows erupted violently as his Rainbow Dragon materialized with a thunderous roar, its massive form nearly filling the room.

"A curse manipulator!" Kimura's eyes gleamed. A spectral longbow materialized from the wall, drawn and aimed at the dragon's head. "Remove your spirit, and you're helpless."

"Wait—that's not one of my inventions!" Dr. Agasa blurted, then whispered to Geto, "The arrow's tipped with anesthetic...will that affect your dragon?"

Geto's silence was answer enough.

"Japan has very strict drug laws!" the professor babbled nervously. "Non-lethal measures are much easier to—"

"Enough!" Kimura loosed the arrow.

The world twisted violently—the lab dissolved into a Heian-period manor, the dragon vanished, and behind Geto stood a woman in a pale kimono, her smile stretching ear to ear.
