Jyera World Apocalypse-Chapter 45: Experiments
Chapter 45: Experiments
"So... Tell me more about this group we’re going to join..." Anna asked Marco...
"A group of three prisoners who were on their way to the prison when it all started... In my vision of the future, they pretended to be police officers to gain everyone’s trust, and I was one of those who fell for their lies when I joined them... If everything is going the way I predicted, they should be hiding in an office building where a food drive for a certain orphanage was taking place..."
"In other words, lots of food, a place with few entrances, and easy to defend yourself..."
"Exactly, they let people join the group, but they were secretly taking advantage of some women... When I found out what they were doing, I confronted them, we fought, one of the three died, the second was seriously injured, but the third caught me and I almost died...
...I barely escaped thanks to a father and his son who also joined the group and helped me escape... Later, we created a new group, but my memories about it are vague, and I don’t remember more recent things beyond that point, but I still remember important things in the later stages of the apocalypse..."
"You said you stopped having visions after almost dying yesterday... Do you think that has to do with you losing your Universal Force?"
"Maybe space and time are difficult things to understand, it was no wonder I had so much trouble learning my abilities. What is your opinion on this? After all, you were an expert in this type of technology..."
"I also believe that this could be the reason, just like you told me, if we consider the Universal Force of Space as a rare type that few awaken, that explains why so few people remember the Apocalypse. So why space? And not clairvoyance or destiny?"
"You mean?"
"I think the apocalypse happened, but some anomaly caused time to regress, and these memories are from the time you survived, not the future... That explains why only people with space and time-type abilities remember..."
"If that’s true–"
"Are we here?" Anna asked, looking at the supposed office building.
"Yes, follow me slowly, can you hide the color of your eyes?"
In an instant, Anna’s eyes returned to blue, and Marco complimented their color, turning hers red...
"STOP RIGHT THERE! WHO ARE YOU?"
Anna and Marco stopped at the scream and soon saw a man dressed as a prison guard armed with a twelve-barrelled shotgun1, accompanied by two others who dressed as city police officers, also armed...
"Please don’t shoot, officers! We are survivors, my friend and I are just looking for a place to stay and rest... If our presence is a nuisance, we will leave immediately..."
The prison guard glanced at the other two men, and they all gave a tactical nod after their eyes swept over a blonde girl wearing a simple robe that covered her clothes but still revealed her curves...
"You’re welcome to stay as long as you want, we have plenty of food too, so you can eat as much as you want... It’s crazy out there, huh, my friends and I almost—"
"POW"
"PUNCH"
"CRACK"
"What are you doing?" Marco asked, surprised by Anna’s sudden violence. After the men lowered their weapons and approached her, they were all knocked out quickly in an almost inhuman way... He also briefly thought that for Anna to have all that strength, she must be at least a level 2 mutant...
"What are you talking about? Weren’t we going to turn these criminals into guinea pigs?" Anna asked as if everything was as agreed...
"Yes, we will, but I thought we were going to do this slowly and gradually... After lowering their defenses, and confirming that there was no one else here in the building with them..."
"Sigh..."
Anna sighed heavily. She didn’t think much about the long-term consequences involving other people, especially what would happen if other humans saw them attacking the fake police officers... It seemed like it was good to have this man named Marco around...
"I’m sorry, it was my carelessness not to think that far ahead, check that there’s no one else in the building, I’m going to put these three in the basement and start the tests..."
Soon after Marco confirmed that there was no one else in the building, he and Anna settled down. And as the days went by, while Anna ran several tests on the criminals, several other survivors came to this place seeking refuge... Marco recognized some of them and accepted them all, gradually creating a safe place. Anna also continued using her Infection skill on all the survivors who wanted to change race...
Two weeks after settling into the office building, Anna also found the monsters she needed and finally completed her new missions. Spending a few more days testing all the effects of her improved skills...

Almost 1 month later, snow was falling all over the coastal city of Kaelor, and Anna was saying goodbye to JB (Marco’s new name).
"JB, keep your mask on and don’t reveal your name to anyone in the group, even people you trust... You weren’t attacked again because those people probably didn’t find you... But don’t let your guard down! I’ll be back as soon as I help the people of Jyor get through the worst, keep the power generator* and the quantum antenna safe...
...Also, I’ve already made adjustments to keep the quantum antenna signal safe, but don’t use it too much. We never know if the signal is safe, use it only to listen, and if you need to talk to each other inside the city. I have another antenna on my ship, so I’ll send news whenever possible... See you soon!"
"Anna... I only knew you for a short time, but... I’ll miss you..."
"No need to worry, I’ll try to come back in 2 or 3 months!"
With that last sentence, Anna entered the evacuation ship that was hidden on the beach, heading back to Colony Ship No. 22, where Jasmine was still waiting for her...
And Marco was speechless with her last sentence, and with a stunned face, before finally relaxing and starting to smile...
This girl... She was unique and innocent... And her words sometimes left Marco speechless... He was trying to say that he had feelings for her, and she just misunderstood everything... It seemed that next time he needed to be clearer about it...
Walking slowly along the beach, Marco, who now called himself by the nickname JB, returned to the office building that they took from the three criminals, and together they created a safe place for many survivors in the region...
As Marco was returning alone, night began to fall, and soon a small, lonely momentary light caught his attention on one of the buildings in Kaelor...
"There were still survivors living so close to your base, and they didn’t know? I need to check this out. If it’s someone with bad intentions, it could end up being dangerous for my group, especially now that we have something as rare as a generator..."
***
"I’m glad to see you’re okay... Did you manage to find out anything?" Jasmine asked Anna, who had just boarded the Colony Ship.
"Yes, I am, I made some videos using my suit’s helmet, I’ll show you how bad things are in Jyera, let the AI download the data from my helmet and transmit it to you... But now we urgently need to go to Jyor, I’m afraid that in that zoological world*1, the few humans there are on the verge of extinction..."
"You said something about an attack last time. Did you find out any more information about it?"
"Yes, not only did someone screw up our world and our race, but now they’re still hunting and exterminating some survivors who know the truth..."
As Anna continued to tell the truth, the ship left the Marana Abyss and began to take off. Jasmine put both hands over her mouth in surprise upon hearing the terrible truth, which at that moment only they knew...
As she looked at the world of Jyera falling behind her, Anna saw the snow slowly spreading from the poles and painting all the continents white... She would take advantage of the fact that she was on her ship to transmit a signal to the whole world, and especially to the few survivors who knew the truth. But before she could do that, another message reached Anna first.
[I am picking up a signal coming from the equator region. Permission to transmit the message?]
Anna was surprised and quickly permitted the AI:
"Hello, my name is Rick, and just like you, I am a survivor of Jyera... I am currently broadcasting from the Gherian Continent... First of all, I ask that you do not respond to this message, as we are probably being heard by someone with bad intentions. I have some essential information for all of you to survive this apocalypse... The first of which is..."
Any reader who understands weapons can confirm if the translation of this weapon is correct. Since in my native language the name is very different, and Google Images didn’t show me exactly what I thought...A reference due to the enormous amount of animal life in Jyor.
