Kaidan Game Train: Abide Rule or Die!-Chapter 2175: Everyone Must Pass Through the Divine Temple
After learning that A Hai could really fulfill his wish to go to the Holy Land, the people in the town all offered their token of affection. Other items are inconvenient to carry, so everyone pooled some money for him to use on the road.
A Hai solemnly accepted the money, promising to repay them when he returned.
"Don’t be so unambitious, don’t come back once you’ve gone." The old doctor patted his shoulder, "Once you enter the Goddess Temple, we’ll be able to see you on TV."
A Hai, with hope in his heart, gladly accepted everyone’s blessings.
The old doctor also privately approached Xu Huo, gently asking that if things outside aren’t looking good, he hopes Xu Huo could bring A Hai back.
"I will ensure his safety," Xu Huo replied.
Having a companion leave with a stranger is quite a risky matter. Although the townsfolk are simple and honest, they worry Xu Huo might not be a good person. However, they can’t stop A Hai nor come up with a better solution, so all their hopes are placed in the kindness of this stranger.
Early the next morning, when the two set off, the townspeople came to see them off.
"You all go back, I’ll call you once I arrive!" A Hai waved, carrying a large backpack, and urged Xu Huo into the Spatial Transmission Channel.
The district under the Rank-C Wormhole Point isn’t very large, so Xu Huo’s spare Spatial Teleportation Device was enough. In the next second, they arrived at the first planned stop: Purple Lake City.
This city is famous for a naturally formed purple lake, located in the nearby mountain area. To develop tourism, the Purple Lake City government expelled all Aliens from the surrounding mountains to ensure safe access.
The city doesn’t restrict Spatial Teleportation Devices, and the teleportation exit happens to be near the government building. The sudden appearance of the two surprised those around, but soon everything went back to normal. Someone kindly approached to inform them where to get stamped and told them to line up, "There are quite a lot of people today; if you’re late, there might be no slots available."
Upon hearing this, A Hai immediately put down his backpack and ran to queue while telling Xu Huo, "You wait here; I can do it alone."
A passerby kindly pushed the wheelchair to the roadside, and Xu Huo waited there patiently.
During this time, he observed the surrounding environment. If there was any difference from other districts, it was likely the intense religious atmosphere, reflected in architecture, clothing, and food. Here, he saw formal religious symbols distinctly different from the small town’s, which were two parallel eyes; staring at them for long somewhat induced a sense of pressure.
The people’s appearances on the street weren’t much different from those in the small town, mostly androgynous. However, they intentionally used clothing or gender-representative badges to indicate gender, so there was no need to particularly probe their gender.
"Sir, are you from out of town? Would you like a Spring Water Cake?" A tall woman approached, lifting a basket in her hand to show freshly made cakes, "These are made with water from the Goddess Spring, eating them grants the Goddess’s blessing. It ensures you won’t feel dizzy after entering the temple."
"Is there a temple in Purple Lake City?" Xu Huo asked, "Isn’t the temple in the Holy Land?"
The woman chuckled and explained in a rich voice, "All five satellite cities have temples, but their scale isn’t as large as the one in the Holy Land. If you’re going to the Holy Land Goddess Temple, you must visit our temple because only those recognized by the Goddess can enter the Holy Land. Just getting a stamp won’t help; you will still be unable to enter the temple in the Holy Land."
"People from outside all aim for the Holy Land Goddess Temple."
Xu Huo bought a few cakes, surprisingly cheap. The woman noticed his confusion and smiled, "I am a believer in the Goddess; how could I do anything to tarnish Her honor? Rest assured, everything in Purple Lake City is top-quality and fairly priced. Under the Goddess’s watchful eye, no one dares to misbehave."
After saying so, she headed towards two players who were coming out of the government building together.
The taller of the two waved impatiently to dismiss her, but the other stopped him and asked the woman to buy a few cakes and inquired about the temple situation.
The woman was very polite, informing them of the temple’s location and the rules for entering it, "You would be considered not to have gone in vain only once you’ve obtained the Goddess’s recognition."
"How do we gain the Goddess’s recognition?" the shorter one asked, "Is there any sign of having earned it?"
"Reverence is enough," the woman said, "The Goddess is compassionate to all, and won’t demand money or other things from you. If you sincerely worship, as you leave the temple, the Goddess’s envoy will mark you. With this mark and the government’s stamp, you can proceed to the next city."
It sounded a bit contrived, but the two guessed it might be something like a government stamp, serving as proof that they had visited the temple.
"How troublesome, what kind of strange instance is this? I’ve never seen an instance you can’t even enter the place before!" the taller one complained.
The shorter one didn’t look pleased either, "Calm down, you should behave better, or you won’t even be able to get through the door. Haven’t you realized this is a game’s special power? Without going through a satellite city’s temple, you definitely can’t enter the Holy Land Goddess Temple."
"I got it." The taller one replied quickly despite being apparently discouraged by previous setbacks in other cities, but then added, "If they really don’t let us in, I might as well smash that worthless temple!" 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
The shorter one didn’t refute this time, "Let’s consider it as the last resort."
The two chatted as they walked away, piqued Xu Huo’s curiosity about the temple. After a moment’s pause, he wheeled himself toward the government building entrance. Before reaching the steps, a player quickly came from behind, lifting both him and the wheelchair, and with a few steps, carried them up and then said, "Brother, you really are determined despite your condition, doing an instance even like this?"
Xu Huo turned to see striking golden hair. He raised his hand to shield his eyes, "Even if I have to crawl, I must come."
Huang Mao laughed heartily, "True enough. But crawling sounds too pathetic, you wait here, I’ll help queue and get a stamp for you."
Without waiting for Xu Huo to respond, he patted Xu Huo’s shoulder, adding, "No need to thank me; I’m just a helpful person. Also, don’t refuse, making friends while traveling can be a great help! Don’t you agree?"
The wheelchair wobbled from his pats; Xu Huo glanced at his still-unhealed arm, "If you keep patting, my arm’s gonna be out of action for another half month."
Huang Mao quickly withdrew his hand, "Careless, careless, are you okay?"
Xu Huo thanked him for his kindness, "A friend already went to get the stamp for me; they’ll be back soon."
Upon hearing this, Huang Mao’s eyes lit up, craning his neck to look, "Who’s your friend? Let me tag along for the stamp!"
