Keyboard Immortal-Chapter 2541: Marriage
Chapter 2541: Marriage
While pondering about this issue, Zu An told the Mermaid Queen, “I intend to first return to Wu Mountain to inform the Kaiming Six Shamans and the Goddess of Wu Mountain about Bao Jiang’s death. They're Bao Jiang’s friends, so I reckon they should have a way to redress his grievance. The Celestial Court will have to investigate this matter, and they should figure out who Yi’s murderer is in the process. If the Celestial Court refuses to punish Yi’s murderer, I’ll do it on their behalf.”
By now, Yumen Beiqing was ready to make a move. Looking at Zu An from behind, she could tell that he wasn’t on his guard. He wouldn’t have time to unleash his bizarre Seven-Colored Divine Halo. If she went all out, there was a chance that she could kill him in a single strike.
But looking at him from the side, she was reminded of the time they had spent together, and that made her hesitate. The real Yi is dead. Do I have to kill him over a mere possibility? But why did I see him shoot the suns back then... Something must have gone wrong in history!
As she thought about her sons, her expression stiffened. She discreetly positioned her finger behind Zu An’s head, and she was about to make a move when footsteps suddenly became audible.
As Zu An turned around, Yumen Beiqing anxiously retracted her hand and pretended to turn around as well to look in the direction of the footsteps.
A group of people resembling the barbarians from TV dramas emerged from the nearby forest. Their bodies were mostly exposed, revealing their bulging muscles. They were far more muscular than most humans.
Unlike barbarians, however, their clothes were exquisite. Primitive tribes wouldn’t be capable of weaving such beautiful textiles.
They first assessed the three of them before their gaze finally fell on the Mermaid Queen. “Saintess!” They quickly rushed over and danced in delight. “We have finally found you, Saintess!”
When he saw them rushing over, Zu An was initially wary of them, but their words surprised him. He instinctively turned to the Mermaid Queen.
The Mermaid Queen looked back at him with an awkward smile as she softly explained, “They are from the Chang clan.”
Zu An nodded in realization. So they think that the Mermaid Queen is Chang’e.
“Chieftain, you’re mistaken! I am not Chang’e,” the Mermaid Queen explained.
The old man leading the group looked at the Mermaid Queen sternly. “Saintess, what nonsense are you spouting? How can so many of us mistake you for someone else? We took turns carrying you while you were younger. I know that you are reluctant to marry a fiancé you have never seen before, but this was a promise our clans made a long time ago. The Youqiong clan might have fallen from grace, but we can’t turn our backs on them!”
The Mermaid Queen was usually eloquent, but she had no idea how to explain this situation. Was she to tell them that she'd transmigrated here?
Putting aside whether she could convince them of it or not, she also had to take into consideration that this world had deities and the Celestial Court. If they were to learn that it was possible to travel across spacetime, they could decide to capture the group for research. It wasn't a risk worth taking.
Seeing her panic, Zu An took a step forward and said, “Elder, I’m afraid that there’s a little hiccup here. It might not be possible for your Saintess to marry Yi anymore.”
The old chieftain was stunned. “What do you mean?”
Zu An told him what had happened here together with his deductions.
The old chieftain’s orange-skinned face showed many interesting expressions. “Bao Jiang and Gu... Should we be hearing these secrets?! How did Yi get roped into this matter? We’re done for... It’s all over!”
Zu An was confused. Why is he reacting so dramatically? Is Bao Jiang so powerful that it frightens even a chieftain like him?
All of a sudden, the old chieftain kneeled on the ground Yi had died on and pinched some of the crystallized stones. His expression slowly turned grim. “This is...”
“Chieftain!” The other Chang clansmen quickly stopped him from speaking further.
The old chieftain raised his head and alternated his gaze between the Mermaid Queen and Zu An. He couldn’t help but notice how unnecessarily close they were standing to each other, and he narrowed his eyes. “Saintess, is he the reason you don’t want to marry your fiancé?”
“Ah?” The Mermaid Queen’s face reddened. There was nothing wrong with those words, but there was just something about the phrasing that felt off.
Zu An helped her answer the question, “Elder, we're good friends. I won’t let her marry someone she doesn’t want to. Besides, that’s not the point here. Brother Yi has already...”
Before he could finish his sentence, the old chieftain raised his hand to stop him. “Young man, do you wish to marry Chang’e?”
“Chieftain!” The Mermaid Queen stomped her feet shyly. “It’s not like that between us!” She was worried that big brother Zu would misunderstand that she was exploiting this situation to coerce him. That’s not my intention at all!
The old chieftain harrumphed as he closely assessed Zu An. “You eloped for him. Shouldn’t he do something for you too?”
“But...” The Mermaid Queen wanted to explain the matter, but Zu An stopped her and gently smiled.
“Of course I’m willing to marry her," he said, thinking this was a good opportunity to resolve the Mermaid Queen’s marriage issue once and for all.
A mini explosion broke out in the Mermaid Queen’s head, and she fell completely still. It was hard to tell whether it was out of excitement or shock.
Yumen Beiqing looked at Zu An in scorn. This fellow is so lecherous.
As she looked at the man she loved with adoring eyes, the Mermaid Queen blushed furiously. Regardless of his intent, those words were more than enough for her.
“Good, good!” The chieftain asked, “Which major clan are you from?”
“I’m not from any major clans.” Zu An figured it wouldn’t be easy to explain his identity in this era.
“Do you have any masters?” the chieftain further probed.
“I’m afraid not.” Zu An figured he couldn’t tell the chieftain about Mi Li when he didn’t even know her true identity.
“That’s wonderful!” The chieftain clapped his hand in delight.
Zu An was speechless.
The chieftain loudly declared, “What a coincidence! On top of finding the Saintess, we have also found Yi! And it turns out they have feelings for each other! What joyous news!”
Everyone was speechless.
Someone from the Chang clan whispered doubtfully, “Chieftain, are you sure he’s Yi? They don’t look alike.”
Not many people had seen Yi when he came to ask for Chang’e’s hand in marriage, but there were still a number of people who had seen him.
The chieftain nodded affirmatively. “Of course! I personally received him back then. There can be no mistake about this!”
Some remained doubtful, but they swallowed down their words of skepticism. The majority, who had never met the real Yi, quickly offered words of congratulations.
Zu An stared at the chieftain in absolute shock. “Chieftain, I’m not...”
Before he could finish speaking, the chieftain pulled him to the side and whispered, “This is the only way you can marry Chang’e. There’s an old prophecy in the Chang clan stating that the Saintess Chang’e can only marry Yi!”
Zu An was so shocked that he didn’t notice Yumen Beiqing’s trembling body. Her hands and feet had turned cold, and her eyes blazed with killing intent.
